How we launched domain marketplace in a week and made a sale happen on our launch day

Hey indie hackers,

here is a story of how my brother @ivbran and me launched new side project with 0 lines of code.

We are both makers. As years went, we both accumulated domains for our projects that either never went public, or were simply discontinued.
We were paying renewal fees for something that we'll likely never revisit. Could we sell those domains (and their idea) to another maker who will bring them to life? And while doing so, return some of our renewal fees?

We decided to test this idea.

My brother was already familiar with bubble.is and he was able to pull up the marketplace quite fast. Bubble has great built-in concepts, like: separation of dev and live environments, commits of changes etc. I liked it as well!

We had to make some business decisions, and this was where we most argued and wondered how to go forward.
In the end, we decided to focus on domain names from makers to makers. We put an upper limit of $199 to the prices. Everything is free for our launch and we will not act as an intermediary between the buyer and the seller.

This made our MVP simpler, while also focused it on the exact market we know and understand.

The website was ready and we launched on PH on November 26th.
@ivbran hunted the product and he put the first comment, explaining it in more details.
A couple of hours later we saw that the product will be featured on the next day and we cheered in our Skype conversation.

The next day came and went. We finished in 8th place and had a bunch of positive comments and reviews.
I posted it with #unused-domains tag on IH, which also brought some traffic to the PH page (thanks).

One of our first users also made a sale on that same day!

This was all great news for us.
The SpareNames.com product was used, loved and needed.

We created it all while discussing it over Skype, in between other work.
We are now focusing on how to move forward, but in the meantime, we await your questions and comments below.
