Hey Indie Hackers,
I’ve been hacking on a small project over the past weeks called ChartFromText. The idea is simple:
Paste your data in plain text.
Choose a chart type.
Get a clean, ready-to-use chart instantly.
No Excel, no Google Sheets, no heavy BI tools. Just text → chart in seconds.
I often found myself needing quick charts for presentations, blog posts, or even brainstorming. Opening Excel felt like overkill, and online tools were either bloated or locked behind paywalls. I wanted something dead simple, so I scratched my own itch.
Supports pie, bar, line, doughnut, floating bar, and more chart types.
Instant preview + export as image.
Clean, minimalist design (no distractions).
Works on desktop & mobile.
Students & teachers: Quick visuals for assignments or lessons.
Startup founders & makers: Create charts for investor decks or product updates.
Writers & content creators: Add data visualizations to blog posts in seconds.
I’m considering:
CSV import
Custom colors & themes
Embeddable charts
API for devs
Would love to hear your thoughts:
Is this something you’d use?
What features would make it more valuable?
Any use cases I haven’t thought of?
