I have 15+ years of branding/design experience. What are your current design-related challenges I can help with?

TL;DR
I’d love to help you radically improve your product and branding. Im creating resources/templates and I’d love to know what would be most helpful.

I’m a first time founder (timewell.io) and I have reviewed product design and brands of a number of startups.

I’ve seen a number of common trends like websites not converting visitors due to unclear positioning or an app feeling cheap because the design is kinda bleh.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

I have a standing offer on twitter (@scott_bair) where I’ll provide a detailed recorded Loom of your product or site for free to founders. I genuinely want to see you succeed.

I’m on a mission to help founders who aren’t designers to create beautifully designed products and marketing material to help them stand out and 🚀

Please let me know:

  • if you had $100k budgeted for design, what would you spend it on first?
  • what tools/resources did you wish you had earlier?
  • what design related things do you feel are holding you back?
  • if you could have a free hour consulting session to review your product or design, what would you hope to get out of it?

Thanks!

Oh snap, I’d love to get your feedback on my project!

if you had $100k budgeted for design, what would you spend it on first?

I’d probably spend it on custom illustrations, photography, curation, and finally, maybe just maybe, a designer 😂 but I’d really focus on getting something unique and beautiful

what tools/resources did you wish you had earlier?

These resources. Also a subscription to the Baymard Institute.

what design related things do you feel are holding you back?

Time. It takes time and practice to return to design, since I’ve been focusing on development lately.

if you could have a free hour consulting session to review your product or design, what would you hope to get out of it?

30 minutes of your honest feedback for my idea. 30 minutes where I would give you honest feedback for your idea. Fair’s fair. A call is a two-way street.

Awesome! Please send me a link to your site on Twitter @scott_bair. I'd be happy to send a Loom.

Good to hear on the 100k question. Do you think those are important at this stage to appear more polished?

Those resources look great! Thanks for sharing. I'd love to see if I could make them even more digestible and accessible.

Re: time, are you primarily a developer? What's one thing you want help with?

Happy to share a recorded Loom over Twitter! :)

        Hi Scott,

Unfortunately, it’s not quite at the design stage yet and won’t fit your format. I say that despite having spent my freetime over the past few years validating the experimental AI tech behind it. I’d love to get your feedback on the idea over a call, and would be glad to return the favor by giving you feedback too. Let me know if you’re still interested.

Do you think those are important at this stage to appear more polished?

My target market is designers, freelancers, and marketers, who prefer to have polished products and are more attune to design than developers. I also plan to target B2B as well, and they prefer fully fledged products. So, I’m not approaching it with the regular MVP style.

Re: time, are you primarily a developer? What's one thing you want help with?

I was mainly a React Frontend Engineer over the past year. I liked it and have no real complaints.

Though, going the freelance route with my own company led to more overhead from managing my own business.
