I have like 150 followers but want to start building in public, does anybody have any tips for getting initial followers?

So there's no magic, just hard work, especially at a very early stage.

I grew from 90 to 1,000 followers in 4 months on Twitter while building in public, what I did was:

• Show up every day
• Engage with 20-30 people having the same interests as you
• Post 3-5 times a day

It requires consistency and patience, nothing else.

Throughout about half of 2022 I was building a small game project in public however my best post last year was when I talked about how to join Mastadon (a twitter competitor).

I think some core principles for growing on twitter are:

Don't overly talk about yourself or what you're building. Instead try to educate people about problem and solutions or ways to build things themselves.

Make sure to comment and like on other active people's posts so that they'll check out your profile.

Usually Videos > Pictures > Text however this can depend greatly on content/context

In addition to all the other good advice in this thread… I’ll share my one tip for growing followers that rarely gets mentioned: Proactively follow more people. When you follow people, many of them will use that as opportunity to decide whether to follow you back. And a certain fraction of them will.

• SEO, Paid PPC Ads, Social M, Content, Cold Emails, Offers & Discounts, Referrals, Influencers, Find Demand/Survey, Analytics/Metrics, Compete, Partnership, Integration. Viral Marketing.

Consistency is the key, Post consistently, automatically the algorithm helps you to reach your audience :)

Many people seem to put a lot of effort into getting followers. Followers should be something nice to have and the focus ought to be on real users who could one day become paying customers.

What I noticed with Twitter is that you need to give people some value. F.e. if I say like look what i've done (this will have terrible engagement). You need to show and then give value (Look what I've done and here is my 5 tips that I learned from doing it). Think how you can implement this idea to your content creation. Good luck, brother
