I just added Macro by Mark to Indie Hackers.

I’m building it because I wanted a better way to learn and work with macroeconomics. When I was starting out, the subject felt fragmented: textbook models in one place, data portals somewhere else, charts in another tab, forecasts in notebooks, and news moving faster than the material could explain.

Macro by Mark is my attempt to connect those pieces.

Right now it includes economic indicators, interactive macro models, dashboards, forecasting workflows, watchlists, country profiles, release calendars, and learning surfaces. The goal is to help people move from concept to indicator, from chart to model, and from forecast to interpretation without losing the thread.

It is still early and pre-revenue. I’m trying to validate the strongest wedge before monetizing too aggressively.

The possible wedges I’m testing:

  • students who need macro explained in a more visual and applied way

  • educators who want classroom-friendly macro tools

  • researchers who want cleaner paths between data, notes, and models

  • analysts/investors who want economic indicators and interpretation in one workspace

  • serious learners who want more structure than headlines and less friction than scattered portals

Stack: Next.js/TypeScript, Supabase, Vercel, Tiger Cloud/Postgres, Trigger.dev, Upstash, Stripe, and public economic data providers.

I’d appreciate blunt feedback from builders, educators, data people, finance people, or anyone who has worked with economic data:

What wedge sounds strongest?
What would make this useful enough to return to?
Where should I simplify the product first?
