Hi! I’m Guilherme Rizzo.
I’m 22 years old, from Brazil, now living in Taiwan.
I built CSS Scan because I always wanted to know what border-radius, box-shadow, or font-family an element I see has. So, inspired by WhatFont? I decided to create a tool that wherever you point your mouse over, you get the computed CSS of the element. That was the initial idea.
If you always catch yourself using Inspect Element to understand the CSS of some website you're seeing, this is like a Goodbye to "Inspect Element". You can check the CSS of any element you hover over, instantly, and copy its entire rules with a single click. It's the fastest and easiest way to check, copy and edit CSS.
To “validate” it, I reached out to some Brazilian Developers Facebook groups, asking if they would pay $1 for this extension, and the result was good enough, so I started coding.
After the 50 hours of work, which took like a month, I launched it on Product Hunt and it was a success (compared to my previous launches).
In the beginning, the pricing model was Pay What You Want (but with a minimum of $1.99). After seeing some people paying $5, $10, $25, I slowly raised the price. Until one day it was already $10, so I made it fixed pricing. Then my wife suggested that I add packages of licenses (2 licenses, 5 licenses, 10 licenses) and we kept raising the price. Now the extension costs $80 for a lifetime license.
Today, more than 7,000 people from 116 different countries use it, and it has made more than USD $100,000 in revenue.
This year, I also launched beachguide.co: a crowdsourced database of the best beaches in the world.
I’m here to help you with bootstrapped business, extensions revenue models, launch, or anything you want to ask 🙌
