In the last 48 hours, about 130 people signed up on AiVideo.To. But none of them subscribed. 🤕
I wondered why. I thought price was the issue so I doubled the usage quota on all plans and sent a free video gift email to all singups.
Just an hour ago I realized there was a bug that failed the loading of the checkout page after signup 🤬.
This was the reason why none of the 130 signups paid. 🫠
I have fixed the bug now and it's working fine now. But I can't get over the regret of lost opportunity ☹️.
Even if 10% would have converted on the lowest tier, @AiVideoTo would have gained $500 MRR 😱.
The silver lining. 🥹
I now know that through my efforts some traffic is landing on my website. 🫣
My landing page copy is good enough to make them signup. 🤌
Also as per analytics a good amount of users visited the pricing page before signing up which means they checked the price and signed up with the intent to buy. 🔥
👉 So this leads me to my hypothesis.
Now that I have fixed the bug. I'll wait for the next 24 hours and hope that the traffic doesn't stop so I can validate this hypothesis. 🤞
If it does get validated, you'll see a chad post from me tomorrow. 🥸
If not a post on lessons and next steps. 🤓
Thank you for listening to me. 🙏
P.S. Shall I send an apology email to all signups so far with a discount code?
Imran, I totally get where you're coming from. I had a similar issue with Stripe checkout on my app, and it cost me users too—super frustrating 😢. But like you said, the silver lining is that your traffic and signups show there's real interest in your product.
An apology email with a discount sounds like a great idea—being transparent can help keep those users engaged. Hang in there; things will turn around. Thanks for letting me vent too! 😅
I feel you, bro! Let's keep pushing.
Oh, don't beat yourself up. That checkout bug stings, but good on you for fixing it fast. Silver lining - you identified valuable insights; landing page works, pricing seems okay, and users are interested enough to sign up.
And yes, consider the apology email with a discount code (optional): It demonstrates you care and can potentially jumpstart conversions.
rant away! its so annoying when we have no one to blame but ourselves. Yes, Send an apology but i don't think you necessarily need a discount code.
sent one yesterday. Let's see how it turns out.
I'd recommend adding Sentry to your stack. It'll notify you when your users encounter an application error.
Great Idea! Will setup shortly.
P.S. Shall I send an apology email to all signups so far with a discount code?I was just about to suggest this until I saw your PS. Showing to your users that you've actively seen a bug and taken steps to rectify (plus a discount for the inconvenience) would definitely raise the reliability of your product if I was a user.
Thanks for reinforcing the idea. I'll send out the emails shortly. Fingers crossed!
Danm, that sucks! This is why I tested my register & payment pages daily after launching my project - the fear that users I worked hard to get wouldn’t be able to use the site and lose interest. In your case I think a promo code or even a free trial would be a great way to get the, interested again!
This is definitely a indie hacker's worst nightmare. Be glad that this did not happen after running ads 🤓
I had a similar problem with my mobile app and they gave 1 rating and bad reviews, some of them offered a free 1-year subscription and tried to turn the reviews into good ones, but most of them did not even return. Good luck to you, maybe a good discount will attract the attention of users, but you may need a good apology message first
I see, so it doesn't always work out. It's fine I'll keep pushing and next time it'll work out.
