I started building ReflectRise to fix my own journaling consistency problem (now preparing for Play Store)

Hey Indie Hackers 👋

I’m a Computer Science student and over the past ~2 months I’ve been building a product called ReflectRise.

It started as a personal problem. I struggled to stay consistent with journaling and goal tracking. Most tools felt either too complex or didn’t encourage daily reflection in a simple, sustainable way. So I decided to build something I’d actually use.

Current state of ReflectRise:

  • Fully completed web app

  • Daily journaling

  • Goal tracking

  • Streaks to encourage consistency

  • Clean, focused UI designed for reflection

  • Actively used and iterated on

The web version is now complete, and I’m currently testing the Android app, with the goal of releasing it on the Google Play Store before the end of this year.

What I’ve learned so far:

  • Solving your own problem keeps motivation high

  • Shipping a complete version beats endlessly iterating in private

  • Consistency in building matters more than speed

What I’m focusing on now:

  • Polishing the mobile experience

  • Final testing for Play Store release

  • Gradually introducing insights and premium features over time

I’m not chasing aggressive growth right now. The focus is on building something useful, learning from real usage, and improving it steadily.

I’d love to hear from others here:

  • Have you built a product primarily for yourself?

  • How did you approach launching beyond web into mobile?

  • Any lessons from preparing for app store releases?

Happy to share progress as things move forward 🚀
