Ideas and Validation is one of the most active channels on IH
So many makers are trying to validate their idea, problem, product etc
What would be your advice to help the community conduct validation effectively?
Pick 10 people you know should be interested in your idea.
If you can't think of 10 people, you probably are not niche enough, or you are trying to build something for a field you don't know anything about.
Talk to those 10 people about their problems. Ask them what they do, what is hard, what they wish were easier.
Then create an idea from that.
Smart move @joshdance - this is purely any makers should do. Thank you!
Make your potential customers pay as soon as possible. “Cool, I’d pay for that” doesn’t count.
Hey @andreboso - I had posted a question today about exactly this. I am having trouble understanding how to do this - could you help me understand your approach in getting pre-payment?

Thanks a lot :)
Sales is definitely not my thing but maybe @royledoyle could give you some tips!
Hey @adithyak! Recently put up an IH post on this, linked here.
The mindset to go in with is not "I am pre selling people on this idea," rather, it's "I'm looking for committed partners who'd be willing to help me get this off the ground."
If people pay you money in that context, your idea is worth building.
Yea indeed! Not until they should their card, any payment intents cannot considered as a validation
Find competitors and research how much they makes
Yes! We’ve to humble enough to compare and learn from our competitors!
Focus on one customer segment as you start
Totally! Many products failed without a focus
Talk to your potential customers first then decide how you can solve their pain points. Once there's an MVP, show it to them, be open to criticisms, update your idea and do iterations based on those feedback.
Wonderful advice. So much more to learn from this process
Don't try to fit a problem to a startup idea you've already come up with, Validating the problem always comes first.
Absolutely! Celebrate a problem instead of an idea
