The most-used feature in my SSL management SaaS isn't what I expected
When I started building Vizze, I assumed monitoring and expiration alerts would be the most valuable features.
They're important—but while testing with real workflows, I kept running into the same problem before monitoring could even begin:
Getting hundreds of certificates into the system.
Most agencies and IT teams already have an inventory somewhere:
Excel spreadsheets
CSV exports
Internal documentation
Asset management tools
No one wants to manually recreate all of that.
So I built CSV import and export much earlier than I originally planned.
Instead of adding certificates one at a time, users can import their existing inventory in seconds.
It makes onboarding dramatically faster, especially for agencies managing dozens or hundreds of client domains.
The export feature ended up being just as important.
People still need to:
Share inventories with clients
Generate reports
Keep offline backups
Analyze data in Excel
I realized that users don't want to feel locked into a platform. Exporting everything with a click builds trust.
Ironically, making it easy to leave often makes people more comfortable adopting the product.
As founders, we often focus on the "hero" features.
For Vizze, I thought that would be certificate discovery and monitoring.
Instead, one of the biggest usability wins was making onboarding effortless and giving users confidence that their data is always portable.
Sometimes the features that reduce friction create more value than the flashy ones.
I'm curious—what feature did your users end up valuing far more than you expected?
