Improving our 20%+ Conversion Rate

Hello Indie Hackers!
So we deployed our landing page around 5 weeks ago and more than 20% of visitors sign up to our 4-5 step Typeform.

---> http://www.Trailit.co <---

Looking for feedback on how to improve our landing page even further.
The copy has been experimented with quite a bit, however, with limited traffic, about 600 visitors in the last month, it's hard to get any statistically significant data. I feel like the copy is too long.

MailChimpStats!

GoogleAnalytics!

140/600 = 23%~
Some of our sign-ups are internal/testing, it appears we have over 20% signup conversion rate.

Any suggestions on how to improve the value proposition or make it clearer about what we're doing?

Our goals are to accumulate 1000+ on our waitlist and then do a coordinated launch on Product Hunt in a few months (August)

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly:
In your opinion, how much of our business model should we discuss on our landing page?

The core service is to curate "Trails" of websites saving followers a bunch of time by providing video, audio, text commentaries for Context at the original source, highlighting the important parts.

(Check out the landing page first to see if we're clear about what we do: https://www.trailit.co)

Trial Guides can get paid by followers for curating the best content on specific topics, giving followers the 80% gist in 20% the time.

We envision Trail Guides to have 1000s of followers micro-subscribed at like $1-3/month. (Small payments like this are enabled with Blockchain - we already have working prototype of it). Our core business model is a margin on these transactions.

For the record, the first 500 users to actively join when we launch will receive our platform life-time no-charge. So get on our wait-list ONLY IF THE VALUE-PROPOSTION speaks to you though :)

Also, we're giving out custom "Lit" masks in our 2nd follow-up auto-responder email, so feel free to grab one by joining our waitlist #Mask4All

So when I say our first 500 active users will have life-time no charge, it means we won't charge our normal margin on transactions you generate.

Think the business model should be mentioned more on Trailit.co?
And if so, where? New page perhaps?

Thanks all.

    Hey Josh,

Some ideas you might try out even with low traffic volume:

    • remove competing CTAs in the hero section (move demo up to replace the visual?)
    • value prop - agree, the hero section paragraph can be more concise / benefit-oriented
    • I also wonder if you get drop-offs when people realize that "Get started" actually means "Fill out this form to get into our beta"
    • business model mention -> I'd say Y on the landing page. If you add a "what you can do with Trail It" section, this would be the right place to break down follow / trail / guide parts and what it costs

For value prop / hero section messaging:

    • "80% gist in 20% the time" from your description is pretty good :)
    • you can also reach out to your existing subscribers and ask them "Now that you've joined beta /whatever else works with the welcome message you've sent them before/, what do you plan to achieve with Trail It"? -> gather this VoC, see what's the most common theme, test using it as a value prop
    • and/or ask this question on a thank-you page for new subscribers.

ok so... this is what we did for today's experiment:
we moved the Video to the top!

The rest is fundamentally the same, but adjusting the design did require some other changes.

      --> http://trailit.co/ <-- check out the updates

(p.s. you can see the original page here: https://www.trailit.co/home-down/ )

      Let's see which performs better!

Since we don't have too much traffic atm (as you can see from the screenshot in our post its under 50 uniques per day), we are only really testing 1 thing (aka the Video at the top instead of the slider of the product mockup)
as opposed to testing multiple variables.

Will report back in if this seems to convert better. Give me about 2 more weeks.

Re: Adding info on the business model, in autoresponder email #3 we discuss it. I wrote it today. Will likely turn that text into a 2nd landing page.

More to build! Appreciate the feedback, will continue to iterate and report in.

        Awesome!

And yes, absolutely makes sense to test 1 thing at a time.

Look forward to finding out what happens :)

Thanks for the feedback! Will look to incorporate some of these suggestions and then will let you know when they have been implemented! Appreciate it.
