🖤 Intercom vs ChatWoot 💬

Has anyone any experience migrating from 🖤Intercom to 💬ChatWoot?

  • Did you complete the transfer? If not, why not?
  • What did you learn?
  • What did you lose?

Our Intercom pricing jumps from $99/m to $800/m next Friday. 🤦‍♂️

Thanks 🙏

Testing ChatWoot as we speak. Love that it's open-source and they let you self-host. Looks promising 🙂

Re. this comment here 👇 - how comfortable should we be with how tawk.to is monetised?

        Oh-oh, I didn't know that, to be honest 😕

I use https://Crisp.chat and it does the job for me.

You could also try the https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot as they claim to be an Intercom alternative 💪

Thanks for mentioning Chatwoot, it looks like an interesting product. I've always had an eye on Intercom but the price was always too high for me, especially now.

Now one problem that I see with Chatwoot, is the lack of the "can I help you" popup which seems to be important for conversions (https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot/issues/1209)

So while chatwoot seems good on paper, for now I'll probably go with another solution which supports that pop up, either tawk.to, or sign up for intercom for a short period to see whether it helps my conversions.

After researching some more, I settled on LiveChat, which is much more user friendly than Tawk.to , and seems to offer more customization options than Chatwoot. Also has API support which I plan on using in the future.

Hi @lucw - thanks, I'd not come across tawk.to before. It might seem like an odd thing to say but... they talk so proudly of being free because it's monetised off the back of their Filipino agent team - and talk about everything about their business - but nowhere is there any discussion of their recruitment or employment practices, there's no modern slavery statement etc. It makes me feel a little uncomfortable that any discussion of their working practices seem conspicuously absent. Is that weird of me?

LiveChat looks like a great in-between. I will take a good look at that. 👍

Does chatwoot provides crm with marketing automation?

    1. 2

Ah, no, not as far as I'm aware. There is a "Coming Soon" on their feature panel but I've no idea what qualifies as "Soon"

I'm really after the integrated inbound comms from various channels into on customer-service flow (webchat, tw/fb, email etc)... I guess I've overlooked making that clear in my question @johndeo, sorry.

The project in question (OneSub) is built atop to our our old in-house EMS and sibling to another project (twiDAQ) which is fully gamified... so between them it has inherited all the outbound comms, onboarding journey tracking, triggers etc that Intercom's Series (nee Campaigns), ProductTours, Segmentation & Outbound provides... although it's all very convenient and the UI make things quick & simple the only bit of actual functionality we're missing is the web-chat... which ChatWoot should provide adequately.

I guess, for most people, they would need more than just ChatWoot if they we're replacing more than just the Intercom "Inbox"...

cool. i just checked and see a crm but never see in features. I think crisp qualifies better. But Saas.
