    Hello, Rosie!

My name is Siddharth and I'm a 20-year-old product designer. I've always had a thing for startups and entrepreneurship. Joined IH today and loving the experience!
Looking to connect with other members to kick-off my first startup.

    1. 2

I wish I started my indie hacking at such a young age :)

      1. 1

Hehe, looking at all the young creators on PH and other platforms, I sometimes feel I'm too late. :-p

    2. 1

Good choice in joining. How did you discover IH?

      1. 1

I was going through the great content on failory.com and they had recommended IH for networking.

    3. 1

Welcome! Everyone is keen to check out each other's startups, so do add your first "product" to your profile! ^__^

      1. 3

        Hello, Andrew!
I haven't launched or co-launched a startup/product yet(hoping to change this very soon). I'm a designer, you can check out my portfolio here: https://www.dribbble.com/siddharthkadyan
I've added it to my profile as well. Thanks!

          1. 1

Thank you, it means a lot.

    Hey!

My name is Gabe, I'm a software engineer in the Bay Area. Building new projects has been a passion of mine for several years. I got here after a recommendation of my friend @talflanchraych (co-founded Flywheel. If you're not following her, you should! She is amazing!).

Right now I'm working on Wonderbase, a CRM for small businesses (you follow our journey here: https://www.indiehackers.com/product/wonderbase). I've started last month and already made so much progress! This community has been really helpful! My goal is to have an MVP in 6-8 weeks. Let's see if I can make it!

Looking forward to hearing your guys stories as well! Cheers!

    1. 1

Good luck. Stay focused and don't let that 6-8 become 12-24 that becomes 24-48.

      1. 1

Thanks! That's a good point. That's why I think IH is great. It will help me stay focused :)

      2. 1

...And the lindy effect will take over!

        1. 1

          Interesting! Thanks!

    2. 1

Welcome to Indie Hackers, Gabe! :D

  3. 4

    Hey guys!

My name is Alan - I'm a 25 year old from Belfast, Northern Ireland. I'm a Software Developer in a Technical Lead role in my current company where we develop web applications for local government - We've recently went into app development as well for the likes of building inspectors on site, carrying out inspections etc.

In my spare time I am a huge gym fanatic, specifically in bodybuilding. I've competed before on stage however my love for development and other things took precedence over taking it any further, I still stay in good shape year round. I also delve into new technologies and development in my spare time and that's how I stumbled upon the indie hackers community! It's awesome!

I'm currently developing TrackMyLift (https://trackmylift.app) which is gonna be the #1 app for tracking gym workouts and scheduling your sessions / looking back on previous workouts. I'm determined to make it work as I've always dreamed of being my own boss (like most of us here 🤣

    1. 2

That's awesome dude. I am also into lifting weights and programming. Good luck with the tracking app. I just built a meal planning tool for a client and it was awesome doing both of the things I love on the same project.

      1. 1

        Amazing to meet like-minded people!

  4. 3

    Just aboarded!

Hi, my name is Dave, a motion designer living in Poole, UK (hardly a spring bed of startup activity, I know). I've spent the last 17 months on a little side hustle SAAS I call Dokyu Motion; a 1-click motion design tool in Adobe After Effects for drizzling on videos before publishing.

If you work with video and might be interested, have a look. There's a free version, too: https://3dmybusiness.com/why-use-dokyu/

  5. 3

    Hey!

I'm Jeremy, right now I'm working on Sizle.io, a presentation platform for sales and marketing teams https://sizle.io/

Looking forward to seeing some more posts in this thread :)

  6. 3

    Hi!

I am Vinicius, 26 years old bachelor of CS. I was really pissed off working for people who would do things poorly, then I found out about an article here of an ex-employee from Google who would make the same complaints that I felt working for a corporate company and this guy quit google to pursue his own goals and started an amazing Start-up, that started a fire within me and I needed to go my own way too, then I too quit and started my own projects.

Yesterday was the day that I launched my project on ProductHunt. YaY! (but not so fast :P) I got almost no traffic and now I'm in a low spot trying to figure out how to get there hahaha, but surely co-founding SmartForms was really an experience that made me feel way more alive than when working for others. Let's see if we can make a living out of it! Good luck for all of us!

PS: If you want to check out my product: https://smartforms.dev

    1. 2

      Vinicius,

Congratulations on your launch, man! It's all about getting started. I'm sure you'll figure things out as you go.

I would love to learn more about your business. Could you explain it to me what it does/offers in very simple, non-technical terms?

By the way, good to see another Brazilian out here. I just joined IH as well. Sou brasileiro tambem e escrevo copy. Me da um toque caso queira uma ajuda na copy em ingles ou portugues. Valeu!

      Parabens pelo lancamento!

      1. 1

        Thanks, man!

Basically, my product is something majorly for people hosting static websites (where there is no server to process data, only hosts static files to be downloaded and showed at your browser) and needs a little bit of input from the visitor, maybe feedback, contact for selling, etc. Without something like my product, this guy would need to rent a server($$) and deal with backend code(code that needs a server) to process this HTTP requests(this is what the browser of the visitor is executing when sending a submission), what I do is basically dealing with all the backend and server issues and then displaying these submissions in a convenient way, this is the core, plus, we have many ways of notification of new submissions to our user(Telegram, Slack, Push), developers tools for automatizing some process with our API, webhooks and Zapier integration, and a beautiful customizable response page for the submissions :P

It's basically that, I don't know if I explained in a very simple way because I have been living with these terms for some time, hahaha.

        1. 1

          Awesome! That's really cool.

Again, congratulations on the launch and good luck! I'll be following your progress!

    2. 2

Awesome work. Looks neat. Do you plan on adding drag and drop forms?

      1. 1

You mean like a form builder so you can build a stylized form with our endpoint and then return the code so you can paste into your webpage? This is a great tool that we think we can bring and I really think it would improve our features...

But I don't know if you were referring to this exactly.

Thanks for checking out our product :)

  7. 3

    Hello,

I just stumbled across this community yesterday and instantly fell in love.

I'm a full-time full-stack developer (React/Angular, AWS, node, mySQL, etc)during the day and constant dreamer in the evenings. I am just getting started on an app idea that I'm planning to build with Flutter. I'm going to add the app to my profile shortly.

In the past I founded and ran my own business for a couple of years. We never made much money but the experience was good enough to get me hooked. Now, I'm trying to figure out how to get back into the entrepreneur life.

Before founding my first business I worked in Natural resources and did a lot of really cool field work in the mountains of Montana and Idaho(mostly).

Like I said, this community is so inspiring! Yesterday after reading a few posts I was totally energized to get to work on my project. I even pitched the idea to own of my co-workers after work (he loved it). I'm looking forward to connecting with other indie hackers!

    1. 1

Hey Brandon excited to see what you make. Feel free to hop on another community I'm building (plus some other cool stuff) for makers but with more of a Marketing flair. were abotu 130+ now people tryign to help foster ideas and develop a place like a marketing sandbox for solo-makers.

      https://bit.ly/2Mq0D6Q

    2. 1

Awesome. Welcome back to the game.

  8. 3

I've been around for a while, but tend to lurk quite a bit :)

I'm a recent Uni grad with a hybrid degree between Computer Science and Business, and started full-time as a Software Dev/Consultant with a really cool regional firm here in town.

I've been trying to get back into the swing of things with maintaining side projects — I've found it's a tough feat to write code during the day, and come home and maintain that same motivation again. It's also been nice to take a bit of time to get involved in other hobbies like cooking, biking, volunteering, etc.

In any case, I'm trying to dig back into building out a few fun SaaS products, and potentially helping as dev support for a few other friends growing their startups.

    1. 2

I feel you. I code client projects from 10-6:30 then spend time at the gym and with my GF then code from 10pm-2am. Its hard and I feel like I am losing it sometimes. But fuck it is so rewarding. I am trying to make as much progress on http://storycreatorapp.com as I can.

  9. 2

Hi I’m Gaurav, working on mixcut.io. Collaborative online video editing. I got the idea from a friend and so far have built an MVP that is in private beta.

I know people just want to play with it but it’s not quite there yet. I’m hoping to have a public beta out in the next month with loads of features that make it a viable product. This community is new to me but love the atmosphere and vibe. Great to join in and wish the best to everyone on their journey!

    1. 2

Hi @gvkhna, If you want to give beta access to people interested and get their email Ids, you should probably change the toning of your call to action.

Change from Subscribe to our newsletter to something like "Get Exclusive Beta Access when Mixcut Launches" Something like that. And instead of "Subscribe" call to action, you can change to " I am in!". That's it!

Then check your conversion rates. I also recommend you to add some more content on your home page describing the pain points of your target audience and then asking them to join your beta program if you want them to give access. Your home page has very thin content which is not enough for conversions.

      Have a good day!

      1. 2

Thank you, will do very soon.

  10. 2

    Hey all,

I'm James, a marketing person in London. I've got a full-time gig as a Marketing Manager but I run a podcasting and video agency on the side. I've been using IH for about a year and have always enjoyed the support that it gives.

I'm involved in the IH community in London, with a great bunch of guys and gals coming along to our Indie Beers and Indie London meetups. I'd recommend anyone in area to come along.

As with most Indie Hackers, I have loads of other side projects going at the same time and I eventually want to pursue one of them to quit my full time. My agency (Striqo) is most likely to do that at the minute, getting £500-1000 a month but it's not regular.

I also run a podcast called the Marketing Mashup (https://marketingmashup.co.uk) which has been a really fun project of mine for a few months.

I love chatting with other IH who are looking to grow their side businesses, happy to help with any marketing things.

  11. 2

Hi guys! My name is John and I provide graphic design services to businesses and personal brands. I stumbled upon Indie Hackers while looking for ways to increase my revenue and expand my client base.

I would love to connect and learn about scaling my business to the next level. In return, if you need any design-related questions, feel free to send me a message or leave a comment and I'll be happy to answer them. You can also view some of my work at http://johnery.com/

    Cheers!

  12. 2

    Hey folks!

I'm Walt. I'm a software engineer who used to live in the bay area.

These days I live in Taiwan and I'm working on the maker thing.

I wrote an article about the experiments I did last year if you're curious.
    http://walt.fyi/my-2018-year-in-review

    I'm about to launch Storytool

    Good luck on your projects!

  13. 2

    What's up IH community! 👋

My name is Michael Aubry https://twitter.com/michaelaubry https://www.instagram.com/michaelaubry/

I just moved to San Diego from San Francisco. I worked at startups for the past 5 years in the Bay Area and am happily working on my own agency currently https://ultradigital.design where I code client projects. Then at night, I code https://storycreatorapp.com/ - about 4-8 weeks from releasing an MVP.

I have my blinders on currently. My main focus outside of product development is to talk to people and collaborate on a solution. I have a public trello board if you want to take a look at the progress https://trello.com/b/CYjwnLHZ/story-creator

I would love to connect with you awesome people and help in any interviews you may have and if you would like to have a quick 5-10 min chat with me. Then please feel free to get in touch. Also if you're in San Diego and want to grab a coffee ☕️, then just simply ping me.

    Cheers 🥂

    1. 1

Sick! I love that you have your work open to the public on trello, that's fearless man 💪

  14. 2

    Hey!

My name is Anurag - 28 year old from India.
I have a full time job and devote my free time to my side project: Curatemails (https://curatemails.com).
Curatemails is my attempt to work for myself. Like many others here, it has been a long lasting dream.
I have taken a small step towards it.

  15. 2

Hi guys, my name is Giancarllo, I'm a Brazilian software developer and product maker.

Been lurking for a while, this community is incredible and actually inspired me to quit my job and pursue the founder dream.

So far without much success, worked 3 months with a co-founder in a project, then, in the end, we dropped it because we realized we didn't actually know anything about the niche of the project(sales). Yesterday launched a product in PH and had basically no traffic.

But I feel like I'm learning more every day and I'll be continuing in this path, love this community!

    1. 1

Good luck with your journey. One tip you should always plug a link to your product. I am actually curious to see what you're working on.

If you're up for it. Share a link here and Ill take a look :)

  16. 2

    /wave

I've mostly been lurking. I'm hoping to be a bit more active in the near future.

I've been a software eng for around 15 years or so (professionally). I've tried to build something in the past with some friends and it didn't work out. Now that my kids are a little older I'm making another go of it with https://www.indiehackers.com/product/never-second. I've been building for a while, but halfway through completely rewrote the api side from Go to JS on Node. I recently "launched" the closed beta for the app and am excited for where this can go. Still a ton of work to do, but I'm happy with where it's at right now.

I'm eager to connect with yall here rather than just continuing to lurk. :)

    1. 1

You're a vet. 15 years is solid. I hope you take that knowledge and build something people need. Cheers

  17. 1

    Hey all!

My name is Danny and I'm a developer currently living in Seattle. I've had a thing for entrepreneurship for as long as I can remember. I've been lurking here for a while but joined today to start participating! Step one complete! :-p

    Hello Indie Hackers!

My name is Dave, and I started Holstee with my brother Mike over a decade ago (can’t believe its been that long!).

At Holstee we are best known for our Manifesto (https://www.holstee.com/manifesto), our monthly Membership, and we recently created the Reflection Cards (https://www.holstee.com/cards) — a deck of cards to spark meaningful conversations and deepen relationships.

Ten years later, I feel lucky to still be able to work on what I love, with people I care about, every day, it has definitely come with its challenges and tradeoffs.

We started primarily as a product and design company, physically based in NYC.

A few years back we launched a monthly print subscription with monthly guides and art based on mindful themes. More recently we launched a digital version of the membership. (https://www.holstee.com/membership)

We are now fully distributed (Amsterdam, California, Barcelona, Colorado, New Hampshire) and with the growth of your digital membership, we are leaning more towards digital with our product development.

I joined Indie Hackers, as we we are working on a new app (very aligned with and inspired by our work at Holstee) to help guide people through a meaningful reflection and self-discovery process. It's a bit daunting as it’s our first time building a consumer facing app, but I have already learned a lot from the great conversations and past learning’s of other Indie Hackers!

If anyone has questions about remote work, physical subscriptions, product design/production, or self-reflection let me know — happy to share our learnings from the last 10 years.

I am excited to share the journey of our new reflection app with the community here and learn from each of you.

    Waving from Amsterdam,

    Dave

    Hey everyone,

My name is Carlos. I'm a 25 year old Jr. Full-Stack Developer at a startup in Los Angeles. I love building useful things. I've always been fascinated with entrepreneurship and my dream is to become a founder.

I stumbled across IH while looking for inspiration for my next side project. Regretfully, I've always been a lurker rather than a participant when it comes to this stuff. I'm really excited to break that habit and become a part of this awesome community.

  20. 1

Hi, I'm Moses. I just started Indie hacking about a month ago and I totally love the community. No jokes. I've made quite a few friends and that has always been one of the reasons I joined.

I made my first chrome extension, http://devscreen.online . It's a chrome extension that gives developers daily updates from top developer blogs and also customized search engines to search google, stackoverflow and youtube from their new page tab...

    Hey Everyone

    Steve here...

Aside from being a proud father and husband, Im also an entrepreneur.

Was in the event marketing space for years...Moved some real estate also. This last year I’ve been kind of in a rut. I ended up taking some time off and traveled with the fam.

Recently, I invested in the cannabis space. I love the opportunities in that market. I also want to get going on something new - a side hustle.

Hopefully soon I will zone in on it. Find it hard to decide on what I want to do. How do you cut through analysis paralysis?

Lol never thought this was a real thing...

    Steve

  22. 1

Hi everyone! I'm Daniel from the U.S., but moved to China after graduating college in 2011. I recently got back into coding and am now working on a website called Readlist (https://readlist.io). It's a community for people to share lists of books they love, and earn money from affiliate links. So Kit.com, but for books. I love books and love sharing my recommendations, so I'm kind of building it for myself, but can definitely see it turning into a full time project one day!

  23. 1

    Hello Rosie, and everyone else!
I am Misha, and I am putting together a content series of women building profitable businesses.

I got so inspired from indiehackers(Courtland, Channing) starterstory(Pat Walls), that I knew I wanted to read about stories of women I could really relate to.

I look forward to learn from all of you :)

    Shameless plug: https://womenhustlers.com

Ah, nice to see Women Hustlers!

    hi,
I'm wynton. I joined sometime august I think. It's been awesome looking at all the work everyone is doing. Very motivating. I spend my time working on wftutorials.com. It's a hobby. I found most tutorial websites are too bloggy. I wanted to create something cleaner.

  25. 1

    Hello,
Recently joined Indie Hackers.I found about the community from Hacker News.
I am a 20 year old Informatics Engineering Student and in this summer i have been building an eCommerce SaaS.My goal is to be the one stop shop for all online sales.Be it physical goods or services/appartments/cars.
It's a website builder like Shopify but i plan to add blogging capabilities also.
    I am currently 40% done.

    Hey my name is Sully.

Not a CS grad, but teaching myself how to code (I come from an IT background but no formal education). Starting off by learning Python and hoping to work on some side projects to generate a little revenue from. Been following the podcast, Pieter Levels on twitter and a few other forums. I think I am starting to get in the "now you just need to do it phase" of this. I have listened to so many starter to hacker podcast and read so many I think I am over doing and procrastinating at this point.

  27. 1

Brand new to the community. I love it!

Hey, my name is Mateus. I'm 24, born and raised in Brazil. But currently living in Cleveland, OH. Anyone else from around here? Let's grab coffee!

Anyways, I left my home country when I was 17 to pursue my dreams in the US. So here I am today...

I currently work as a Geologist for a small engineering company and write copy on the side. I stumbled across IH on Spotify looking for good podcasts. And oh boy, am I glad I found it! How I Built This and My First Million are part of my top podcasts as well. What's your favorite?

As of my journey, I'm looking to start a membership-based copywriting service. For a fixed fee per month, you'll get a certain amount of writings/content done. That includes blog posts, emails, sales pages, press release...you name it. Would love to hear ANY advice/tips on this.

Thanks for having me, Indie Hackers Community!
