Is my Twitter app idea viable?

Hi everyone, I’m working on (yet another) Twitter writing tool, centred around the idea of Twitter being ephemeral by nature, i.e. whatever you post, gets lost after a (very short) while.

I am trying to create a writing app that would make it easy to categorise tweets/threads belonging to a specific “journey” of yours. One example of this is: building something in public and tweeting a lot about it over a longer period.

My assumption here is that it would be valuable to have the entire “journey’ in one place. This way, your audience can easily see it and engage with your past content more.

If it’s not too much to ask, I've created a landing page and I’d really appreciate if you could stop by and leave some feedback on this post:

  • Is the idea clear enough on the landing page?
  • Is this something that you think would be useful, or perhaps even use?

If it’s something that interests you, feel free to sign up to the waitlist as I’ll be sharing more updates soon!

Interesting idea! I am not a Twitter power user so not the target audience but I do understand how this could be useful. I have used Wordpress a lot and it occurs to me that this could maybe also be a useful Wordpress plugin tool so you could pick a "feed" and show it on your Wordpress site. So an entrepreneur with multiple projects could install the plugin on different websites, connect to the account and then show the feed of the relevant product story automatically on the right site. Just a thought.

Design-wise I think the whitespace could do with a little work. The padding around the paras and the line-height all feel a little tight. I would increase to give the words more space to breathe. Likewise the final section looks a little jumbled. You could spread things out a little so they aren't running into each other and so it's easier to read.

I think you should try and find some Twitter power users (and their assistants) and find out what tools they use and where their pain points are. This may be what they need but I would ask first before spending time developing it in case Hubspot or something like that does this already.

    Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the feedback! You’re right about the design and general messaging. I’ve got lots to change there!

Not sure about the Wordpress plugin as I have no experience there, but it could be something on the roadmap!

Hi! Here are some of my first impressions:

    • I kind of understand the idea. Yes, tweets do get lost after a couple of days, never to be found again. And your product offers to turn them into a story. But I don't really understand how you're going to do that?

    • I wouldn't use the word "ephemeral". Admittedly, I am not a native speaker, but this is the first time I have ever heard of this word :D

    • I don't think the subheading explains what your product is about. When I read "Your story is unique. Why not share it on Twitter?", I just to think to myself that I'm already doing this by tweeting.

    • The About/Join at the top right don't seem to work

    • I'd make the CTA button a unique colour to the rest, to make sure it stands out more.

    • I would also add some more whitespace, elements do feel a bit too close to eachother.

    Good luck :D

Really valuable insights, thanks a lot Yosif! I will definitely look to make some UI tweaks based on what you've said.

      To answer your first question:
I'm going a little bit through how I intend to turn the Tweets into "Stories" at the bottom of the page but perhaps that's not very clear. My idea was to have the option to create a "Story" inside the tool and then either:
      • Categorise tweets/threads to this story as you go through your journey, or;
      • Categorise tweets/threads from previous experiences or projects;

You would then have the option to edit them together into a story by: adding notes, adding things in the middle to make them link better, or just leave them as is. Finally, you'll have the option of sharing this story by:
      • linking to your TweetSaga profile
      • linking to the story directly
      • creating a new Thread with all the subtweets inside and share that again
      (still brainstorming the best ways)

Does this sound like something useful?

Yeah, I think I get the idea now.

So basically, I can add tags to my tweets, and then I can share all tweets that contain this tag.

I mean it sounds interesting, but I don't see myself using it right now. My twitter account is pretty small, so I don't think I would get a lot of value. I reckon if you were to contact some bigger twitter accounts you could get a better idea though :D

That's interesting to hear! I always assumed it would be serving smaller account more, since it would help with having your entire journey in one place, which would make it more visible to your newer followers. I'm struggling with this at the moment, feeling like my progress tweets are just going into the void and will forever remain there :D

          1. 1

It is definitely handy to have your tweets visible for new followers, and followers in general, I agree. The thing is that these big accounts would get a couple hundred followers/month, while I'd get way less :D

Now that I think of it though, I like the idea of, for example, starting a buildinpublic that lasts a couple of months. And I could pin a link to this story, so people can see how it has started. It'd be a pretty cool way to show credibility

This is exactly one of the reasons why I’m building this. I’d love for people to feel encouraged to start something new like a build in public project.
