Is ProductHunt worth it (actual traffic?)

Hey guys,
What are the recent experiences with Product Hunt? I get the impression that getting higher listings is "pay to play" there.. but I don't know..

Do they drive real traffic and sign ups?

What's the best way to launch something there?

Haha, I literally just posted a post about the results of our launch and what it actually brought us. I can definitely tell you that it's worth it.
Regardless if you launch your product or just a content project, the quality of people on PH is nuts.

Read about our launch here: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/we-hit-7-on-producthunt-here-are-the-results-traffic-signups-tips-2056ebbeab

Yes! We've gotten Top 10 on Product Hunt 2-3 times, and each time it has brought us a significant amount of traffic.

I think it usually brings in a non-zero amount of revenue as well. $200 - $500/mo from our last few launches.

Hi Andrew. You can find many pages on how to launch in Product hunt but I think that the way is to have a community before.
I receive messages over Linkedin and Twitter to support products from people that I don't know and then there is the "pay to play" ofcourse
As much I like Product Hunt and I think it's necessary, I think to be really successful you need more than a great product a great community behind

I have personally never tried ProductHunt with its full potential. What are the other platforms available out there to launch SaaS products ? I have joined Twinr, https://twinr.dev recently.

Yeah, I'd say it's worth it. Very good exposure, even if you don't make it to the top #10.

As you'd expect, you'd have to have a good product to get better results. And I think they should be a bit more thorough with product selection (many people just try out half-baked ideas instead of listing actual products). But overall worth it.

PH was definitely worth it for me! I think having other launches on other channels, i.e. BetaList, etc, can help.

Not for me unfortunately. I followed a couple of guides and tried to follow PH best practices but I only got around 10 visits. I think this is because of the subject matter though (a checklist for selling used watches). If your product/resource is more focused to a tech or startup audience then I think PH still has a lot of potential.

ProductHunt is a great way to generate traffic and interest in your product. However, it's important to note that the traffic you get from ProductHunt is generally quite high-quality and engaged, so it's not necessarily a huge volume of traffic.

There are a few key things you can do to grow on ProductHut:

    • Make sure you have a strong profile and cover image. These are the first things people will see when they visit your page, so make sure they're eye-catching and represent your brand well.

    • Start following other users and groups that are relevant to your interests.

    • Engage with the community by asking and answering questions, and leaving comments on other people’s posts.

    • There are a few key things you can do to grow on ProductHut:

    • Be helpful - offer advice and insights, share your knowledge, and be valuable.

    • Share on different Flatform about your ProductHunt launch, so that you can get more traffic.

I think these tips will help you out, and if you find more interesting articles, add them in the comments. thanks
