This is not really an idea I want to pursue, but something I wonder whether it exists, and something I would pay money for, if it does (wink, wink to all idea seekers).
Support is the most stressful task of my IndieHacker-day for me. I used to get a ton of support inquiries early in my journey (unclear expectations, refund requests, angry e-mails) but that hasn't been the case for probably a year or more. Most e-mails I get are lovely or routine, some of them are almost funny, and yet I feel scarred when my daily task pops up to review my 10-15 support emails.
I was wondering if there was a playful, anxiety-reducing help desk software? Bonus points if it filters out the countless spam that I get.
I'm working on a simple customer support tool that prioritizes thoughtful, asynchronous messages and user privacy: https://letterbase.io/
I think the simplicity of the product makes answering support requests much more pleasant. Plus, it's not live chat, so it's automatically much less stress-inducing.
If you'd like to get an early access invite when it comes out, feel free to sign up for updates on the website :)
I think https://helpwise.io/ is a fellow Indie Hacker as well, and they have a 5-seat free plan. Haven't used any of these though so can't specifically recommend.
I looked at that, but seems like the big USP is about having support with multiple seats, not so much a better/calmer alternative to a simple e-mail inbox (esp. when working alone)?
@amyhoy & co are working on exactly this. It looks like it's not live yet, but from what I can tell it aims to solve for the kind of problems you mention https://charmhq.com/
I just signed up for the beta @amyhoy would love to get in :) It's not a fun part of my day
What playful features are you looking at?
Ps. Am a fellow indiehacker, building a helpdesk for small businesses https://helpninja.com
I am not sure, but raw e-mail feels very direct and there's a certain barrier (opening the inbox). I am not sure what the solution is, just aware of a problem (I don't like looking at my support inbox)
I love your project!
Big fan of products that integrate natively with GMail. I'd be one of your customers if you only had in-app chat capabilities.
