Hey IH π
After wasting hours on online image compressors (limits, watermarks, slow uploads), I built a simple offline tool for Windows that batch-converts JPG/PNG β WebP.
π§ What it does:
β’ Convert entire folders in seconds
β’ Quality slider + 3 presets (Web / Print HQ / Social Light)
β’ Dry-run mode to test before saving
β’ Auto-strip EXIF metadata (privacy + smaller files)
β’ Real-time log + progress bar
π οΈ Built with:
β’ Python 3.11 + Pillow for image processing
β’ tkinter for the GUI (no external dependencies)
β’ PyInstaller for standalone .exe compilation
β’ ~300 lines of code, fully open to feedback
π Try it here (launch price $5, pay what you want): [link]
β Looking for feedback:
β’ Does the 3-step flow (select β pick quality β go) make sense for non-technical users?
β’ Would you prefer drag & drop, rename patterns, or a CLI mode?
β’ Any edge cases I missed? (HEIC support, macOS, large folders >1000 files?)
π‘ Why I'm sharing it:
I built this for myself first. Now I'm curious: would other builders find it useful? If it saves you time, great. If not, I'd love to know what's missing.
No pressure β just building in public and learning. Thanks for any thoughts! π
