WebP Batch Optimizer
Convert 100+ images to WebP in 1 click. Offline. No subscrip
Hey IH 👋
After wasting hours on online image compressors (limits, watermarks, slow uploads), I built a simple offline tool for Windows that batch-converts JPG/PNG → WebP.
🔧 What it does:
• Convert entire folders in seconds
• Quality slider + 3 presets (Web / Print HQ / Social Light)
• Dry-run mode to test before saving
• Auto-strip EXIF metadata (privacy + smaller files)
• Real-time log + progress bar
🛠️ Built with:
• Python 3.11 + Pillow for image processing
• tkinter for the GUI (no external dependencies)
• PyInstaller for standalone .exe compilation
• ~300 lines of code, fully open to feedback
👉 Try it here (launch price $5, pay what you want): [link]
❓ Looking for feedback:
• Does the 3-step flow (select → pick quality → go) make sense for non-technical users?
• Would you prefer drag & drop, rename patterns, or a CLI mode?
• Any edge cases I missed? (HEIC support, macOS, large folders >1000 files?)
💡 Why I'm sharing it:
I built this for myself first. Now I'm curious: would other builders find it useful? If it saves you time, great. If not, I'd love to know what's missing.
No pressure — just building in public and learning. Thanks for any thoughts! 🙏
About
I kept losing hours manually converting product images to WebP for my own projects. Online tools had limits, watermarks, or privacy concerns. So I built a lightweight offline tool that does batch conversion in seconds —
