Launched Vindra — a private, offline journal

I just added Vindra to Indie Hackers. It's a journaling app built around one idea: your private thoughts shouldn't need an account or a cloud connection to exist.

The idea started when I found a stack of my fiancée's old journals — years of entries, never digital, never synced anywhere, just hers. That's the feeling I wanted to rebuild digitally. Vindra works fully offline, no sign-up, and nothing ever leaves your device.

As a solo dev, that decision also simplified everything on my end — no backend, no auth flow, no server costs, no data breach risk to lie awake about.

The offline-first decision is interesting because it removes a whole category of friction.

Curious whether users are choosing Vindra specifically for the privacy, or whether the simplicity of not needing an account is the bigger draw.

Good question — honestly not sure yet which one dominates, but my guess is privacy is the emotional hook and no-account is the practical unlock that gets people to actually try it.

That makes sense. I’ll be interested to see which of those shows up more clearly once you have enough usage data.
