List of newsletter directories

Growing your newsletter can be challenging. Especially when starting out and few know about your work.

Having your newsleter listed in specialized directories that attract potentially interested readers is a valuable discoverability opportunity.

These directories are databases that let readers search or browse the entries by category. Sometimes the directories share the newsletters to their social channels or in email updates. The continuous flow of subscriptions coming from directories, even if small, adds up.

Below is a list of directories you can submit your newsletter to. I included only those that approve all or most submissions. I omitted some highly selective directories that focus on the largest or most influential newsletters.

Maybe it's just an impression. However, I’ve been noticing a small but steady flow of subscriptions since submitting my newsletter to several directories. It's just a trickle right now. But noticeable.

I'll keep this list up to date.

This is insanely helpful. Thank you so much for sharing this! Also, what according to you are some required points that need to be considered before launching a newsletter from scratch?

    1. 1

      Thanks, much appreciated.

I'm starting out and my experience with newsletters is still limited. But I'd say setting up your infrastructure correctly is a required point.

Be sure to set up SPF, DMARC, and DKIM and double check the configuration works with no delivery issues. I learned it the hard way as all the mails of one of my issues bounced because I had screwed up the DMARC/DKIM settings.

As for launching, I shared my experience with launching my newsletter on Product Hunt.

Thanks for featuring Rad Letters! I recently created a similar list with a lot of newsletter tools (including directories) that you can find on GitHub.

    Hope you find it useful.

    1. 1

      Great resources, thanks.

  3. 2

Thanks for sharing InboxReas Paolo! Glad you've gotten some traffic. If there's any feedback you'd like to share I'd love to hear.

    1. 1

Thanks to you, InboxReads was the first newsletter directory I discovered. And you help authors by sharing their newsletters on your channels.

      1. 1

        Appreciate the feedback 😁

  4. 2

Great list Paolo! You might also want to check out:

Indie Mailer - Not technically a directory but useful community to engage in

    1. 1

@mrrventures thanks for the suggestions. Letterlist is actually one of the highly selective directories I omitted. And, as you noted, Indie Mailer is a comunity and hence outside of the scope of the list.

      1. 1

Definitely agree, though Indie mailer might deserve it's own category. 🤷‍♂️

    1. 1

      Good catch, I've added it.

  5. 1

Thank you. Really interesting. I've been publishing a newsletter since 2008 called The Eleven. I've never seen such a list before.

  6. 1

Hi all, you can list your newsletter through the multi lister from Duuc.com/directory list once and your newsletter will be shared with the top directories.

  7. 1

Submitted to most of them - will see if any spikes pop up. Such a great resource, thank you!

    1. 1

You're welcome. I seem to get a few subscriptions from directories but it's difficult to quantify them.

  8. 1

    Cool, thanks for submitting!

  9. 1

This is amazing, thanks so much for pulling this together 🙏

  10. 1

Great list! There’s also InboxStash https://inboxstash.com/

    1. 1

Thanks, I hadn't noticed Inbox Stash also offered a directory. Added.

  11. 1

Thanks so much for this! Unless you know people who talk about a specific Newsletter (it seems to be word of mouth a lot of the time) you’ll never really know so this is great :)

    1. 2

You're welcome, directories seem a little known and untapped resource.

I have a blog discovery process that works for me also for newsletters.

      1. 1

They really are. This is great! Grazie Mille Paolo ✨

  12. 1

    Thank you Paolo!

    1. 1

Thanks to you, I hope the list will help your newsletter grow!

  13. 1

thanks, didn't even know newsletter directories is a thing!

    1. 1

      Me neither 🤷‍♂️

  14. 1

Hi all, I've just updated the list with another directory, Newsletters.

  15. 1

@PaoloAmoroso This is an awesomely helpful post!

I found many interesting newsletters and submitted mine too.

I'm also thinking to improve my content, keen to hear experienced advice!

    1. 1

Thanks, I'm actually at the beginning of the journey myself as I started my newsletter around 6 months ago.

What I recommend and can have a long-term impact on engagement, however, is to welcome each new subscriber with a personal email note 2-3 days after they subscribe, letting them know they can email you at any time.

    1. 1

      Thanks for the appreciation.

  16. 1

Thanks a lot, Paolo! Just submitted my newsletter https://knowledgeartist.org/ to all of the above 😅
Will report back in a bit if I'm receiving any traffic from these sources

    1. 1

You're welcome. The more directories you submit to, the better.

  17. 1

This is so weird, I was just thinking about creating a site for people wanting to submit their newsletters and calling it something like "Newsletter Support" or "Newsletter Network". Then I thought about creating a group here, but it seems like this post is exactly what is needed. Thank you.

    1. 1

Thanks, I'll do my best to keep the list up to date.

  18. 1

Thanks Paolo! This is very helpful. Here are some others that I've found!

    Newsletter Hunt
    Newsletter Stack

    1. 1

Newsletter Hunt seems more an aggregator than a directory. And, as an author, this feels uncomfortable. Like Stoop, they take away the relationship with readers as social platforms do. You no longer own the relationship.

Email Love looks interesting but seems highly selective and I'm not sure whether they accept self-submissions. I didn't include Newsletter Stack for the same reasons.

  19. 1

🔥Sweeeeet. Just submitted my newsletter PodBytes to all of them.

    1. 2

Hi there. Are you in for cross-promotion. I have 417 subs only.

      1. 1

Just sent you a message on Twitter.

    2. 1

All the best for your newsletter.

  20. 1

    Thanks @PaoloAmoroso didn't know this was a thing :)

    1. 1

Directories are relatively new to me, too.

  21. 1

Thank you Paolo, I had missed a couple of them.

    1. 2

I've started collecting links so that I don't miss any.

      1. 1

I should do the dame but I keep forgetting...

  22. 1

Just what I was looking for! thank you for sharing, super helpful

    1. 1

Thanks, best wishes for your news📬.

  23. 1

Hey Paolo, thank you for sharing this. This is super helpful :)

    1. 1

You're welcome, I hope these directories will help grow your newsletter.

  24. 1

    Awesome list, thanks for sharing!
