Looking for partners to build a side project in 1 month! 🚀

Hey fellow indie hackers,

I'm David from Georgia. I'm starting a challenge to build 12 side projects in 12 months.

I'm passionate about building things and this is going to be an awesome experience.

I'm looking for partner for the first project. I will be crowdsourcing ideas from the community each month and partnering with people who proposed each idea I picked for the project.

Please post Ideas and lets build something great together.

If you'd like to follow the progress please subscribe to the newsletter.

Why not do 1 project well rather than do 12 average projects? Something to think about.

    1. 4

I think the 12 in 12 challenge provides a sense of urgency to build, ship, test, and try to find market-fit more often, more quickly instead of continuously working on one project or problem and rarely or never shipping.

    2. 3

you will get more experience in 12 projects

      1. 2

Nope. You will actually get more experience spending more time on less things and thinking deeply about the problem you're solving and focusing on that.

    Hey David :)

I'm a community manager of a student entrepreneurship club.

Each week I post a question that relates to the topic of the community (entrepreneurship), and the winner/s gets points and sometimes even a prize (usually a food delivery 🤤).

I update the scores, profiles pics and names manually in a Canva site that I created (see the picture)

I thought it would be cool to automate the process and promote it to other community managers. These posts gain a lot of engagement, and reach almost all of the group members. Communities are now booming, Facebook are going to invest a lot in that area, and engagement is everything.

What would the product look like?

    1. A community manager creates an account on our website via Google / Facebook.
    2. They create a new board game
    3. A simple webpage is created (like my Canva site) with all the group members at level 0. If they created the account with FB they can connect the community group to the board, and using scraping all the group members will be added to the board (at level 0)
    4. When an admin wants to give a member score for their correct answer they can just tag the member and add + number (E.g. @Leonardo DiCaprio + 15) and the website will automatically update their score and rank accordingly. If can be done via the board by clicking on the plus sign next to the member (only the board creator will have the option).

Other professionals could also benefit from this product: Office managers, teachers, etc.

After that is released and gains users we could limit new users to 3 rounds, and certain amount of comments in a group and then they’ll have to pay to continue using it.

Also, we could connect between businesses that would like to provide prizes in exchange for marketing in the group. I did it by emailing ones that I thought would benefit from marketing their business in our community / social media.

And at even later phase, suggest questions according to the topic + a fitting prize.

An example question that I posted with a prize: How many pizza’s does Jeff Bezos think should satisfy meeting members that’s sized well?

The winners received scores and one even a pizza delivery that I managed to get for free in exchange for the promotion of the pizza place.

There isn’t something like this, searched all over.

@davidmika Hi David, I'm happy to help build the website and apps. Do you have timeframe and budget?

  8. 1

Hey David, I have just started my WebDevelopment journey 1 year ago and I'm really looking forward to start my own business soon. So basically I have an idea in my mind :-

1.) One thing I really felt in these covid times is that there are so many other things that can be delivered to households in the city just like how uber eats delivers food from restraunts. An app that delivers items not just from restaurants but also from different shops around the city. Any business in the city can register in the app and deliver his product locally just like food deliveries.

    Hi David,
I have an iOT project that has multiple patents lodged and an MVP that has stood the rigours of testing. We need a 12 page app (iOS & Android) and simple SQL database built, both so small they could be done in a month.
If you are still looking for projects, happy to share behind an NDA and profit share. Note, the app and database are the last things needed, so would launch shortly after.
Ping me a message if you are open to discussing.

I am working on a symptom tracker for covid. It will also bring together the nutrition and medical world.

  11. 1

My name is Okhela Mbadamana and I am a young aspiring entrepreneur looking to change the dynamics of the food industry. We know business has been tough for restaurants due to covid and I aim to develop a platform that provides increased safety to leisure activities such as fine dining. The groundbreaking platform focuses on embracing the new normal (covid-19) as opposed to fighting it. A platform with distinguished features that will improve the restaurant industry even post covid 19 by cutting costs, increasing the customer base as well as customer loyalty, reducing managers workload, and simplifying management etc. I have refined the project with a few restaurant owners to make sure it suits their needs, My only problem is funding, how can you advise me.

Hey, I'm looking for a technical co-founder (CTO) to build a deep tech company powered by computer vision AI & body recognition. I have full E2E experience in SAAS, eCommerce, digital transformation, infrastructure and global logistics. I have delivered 38 ideas into projects through to operational excellence for the worlds biggest brands such as P&G, Honda, Nintendo, Mercedes, Nestle, Singapore Airlines and many more. I have also successfully commercialised and launched new technology in markets around the world.
I have also ideated and delivered a computer vision AI for my employer that's now generating millions in revenue.
Other skills I have include; pitching, client and stakeholder management, resource and budget management, risk management, operations management and a leadership award.

In my own time, I invest my disposable income in deep tech companies on the stock market and my portfolio is at 159% profit which is about 150% higher than the hedge funds managed by the big 4, therefore, I understand business strategy and what makes a valuable company for the market and also to investors, these skills will help me build a scalable, globally impactful company.

Please reach out if you have the right technical skills and also ambition and commitment to creating your own startup. I have a few ideas, however, I want to pick the final idea with my co-founder whilst also exploring your ideas if you have any.
I am currently based in the UK which is my co-founder preference, however, I'm happy to explore a remote partnership.

Hi @AirHorn! Thanks for the reply!

Congrats your our app looks awesome. But I don't have experience with flutter. And also main idea behind my project is to start from scratch and document the whole process.

Hi, I had this idea around building a social media monitoring project.
Basically brands companies can monitor lets say there twitter feed for interesting insights.
Eg - A product company can automatically be alerted when users tweet about a bug.

The project would monitor tweets to and classify them into topics. Weekly Reports can be generated about the user sentiment.

Hope you get the idea. Reach out to me if you think it's interesting

    1. 1

      Hi @gabber12!

Sounds interesting. If I understand correctly you are talking about something like
hotsuit or tweetdeck but with sentiment analysis or classification of mentions.

I will create a poll on Sunday with all the ideas and select one on Monday.
