Made 4k π΅ with Job Board Search π
Built it with a single PHP file, vanilla CSS & JavaScript!

Why?
How?
I tweeted about the slots, and right away Phil from 4 day week job board acquired a slot (Luck) and it was the 1st ever money made π€
Inspired by Guilherme Rizzo from CSS Scan made a post on Reddit and it went viral (Randomness / Luck) and got a lot of feedback, traffic, exposure, and awareness, it was a blast π
I've made a single comment on @csallen post at Indie Hackers about the curated list of job boards and right away a moderator commented down (Randomness) and suggested to make a post so I did, and the post was featured on the homepage
Our Reddit post got 793k views π₯ in less than 48 hours thanks to the support of another Indie Hacker.
From here on I mostly was adding features, sharing on daily basis transparently, building in public is very powerful as you help, promote, get feedback.
I barely did any outreach but since I put the paid slots every month was SOLD OUT
As you can see there is a lot of Randomness and Luck involved π, but also a lot of time on the laptop:
Promoting
β’ Twitter (Mostly)
β’ Hacker News
β’ Reddit
Coding (in public)
β’ Features
β’ Automations
β’ Including job boards
β’ Programmatic SEO
I don't see it as a win but a really small one! Sure there is luck involved but don't forget π
βLuck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.β - Seneca
Keep it up πͺ and enjoy the ride!
Hope you liked the story (sorry a bit long π¬), thanks a lot everyoneπ
I am Rod (@rrmdp on Twitter) , building multiple projects in public and always happy to help and answer any question π
Looking forward to hearing from you...
Great point. I've been building a Notion system
for job searching and the biggest game changer
was tracking interview notes alongside applications.
Most people only track where they applied but forget
to document what happened in each interview round.
Congrats! Taking advantage of a dying platform has always played well for many products. The level of luck you experienced is one in a lifetime.
Thanks so much. Still a long way to go @kelche I am trying my best π
interesting journey :-)
Thank you :)
