Made my first $10 on Medium!
Woohoo! I made my first $10 in passive income today and it came from publishing articles on Medium.
I know this isn't a founders story per se, but it did earn money and it is something that I am quite proud of.
Back story--I started blogging for fun at the start of this year and wrote about 15 tech related blogs that garnered over 100,000 views. When I saw that number, I signed up for the medium partner program and published one more afterwards on 'The Startup' publication. This article only has 180 views so far, but it's earned a little over $10! Imagine if I monetized my writing since the beginning..

Wow, Im not trying to use it as a source of income - just use partner program to increase reach.
On about 5k views I earned <$10 with a read % around 50%.

What about claps? Are you also publishing on any publications? I read that you only get money if paid subscribers read and give you claps.

For the partner program, just do it! It's easy to sign up. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
For tips, I would recommend publishing in a popular publication and make your heading SEO friendly. This would help with organic traffic.
For example, my most popular blog is #1 in result when people search for "how to restart kubernetes?"

Right now it has 82k views and 40% read. Over 90% of my traffic comes from Google.
It's also published in a devops publication "faun" which helps with establishing SEO authority.
Medium has kept changing their model so often it makes my head spin. That’s a crazy good return on 180 views though. 💪
Any pros and cons of joining their partner program that you could share?

Not sure how Mediums model was before--I've been with the partner program for a little more than a week now, so take this with a grain of salt.
Pros - I get paid for writing!
Cons - you need to be able to withdraw money from Stripe. Many countries can't set up account with Stripe e.g. (Thailand) while US & EU citizens can.
I also thought that my viewership count would drop since my stories are behind a paid wall now, but I did not notice any difference in terms of traffic.

Yep 180 views 100 reads and 10 claps.
AFAIK medium partnership program distributes paid members views & claps to you. Not sure how their algorithm works. In other words, if all those views, reads, and claps were NOT from paid members, then I don't think I would have earned anything.
