Another first for me. It took longer than I expected but finally got my first launch on Product Hunt out.
If y'all have any suggestions on launching and launching again on Product Hunt, I'd love to hear about it.
Hey, seems like you really made it count! Congrats on this milestone!
Thanks! Gonna need to launch again and again still lol.
Amazing. Out of curiosity, What's the tech stack for this tool ?
I'm using a MERN stack. Mongo, Express, React, Node. But some of the things used for offline ML stuff were done using Tensorflow, Python, R, and then some TensorflowJS on the server.
Did you get any insights from the community to help drive your product forward?
Yep. Every time I've made some kind of public post about it I've gotten at least some good feedback. I get feedback from the customer calls I make as well. One paying customer for example only purchased after I added the 'related link' feature which turns your AI FAQ into a 'mini-Google search' for your business.
The idea was if a customer asked about x or anything related to it, the business owner wanted the AI FAQ to automatically convert/upsell/link that customer to a specific page on their website; i.e. increase customer awareness of the business's higher value offerings.
You can see that in action by asking the question "Can I link to other pages to improve conversion?" on my website's own AI FAQ here: https://www.frequentlyaskedai.com/
I'm planning on doing a PH launch myself, but I guess there's a lot to do in terms of preparing for the launch. Did you get any paying customers?
I do have paying customers but I don't track from where (yet) so I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what source they came from. That being said, at this early stage, I'll point out that the value of launching for me was the information/feedback I got. E.g. I've had concrete feature requests considered 'dealbreakers' which have helped me prioritize the most important things to work on. I fully expect to launch many times over as I learn/build more.
PS. You'll notice I have a 'coffee plan' for a dirt cheap $5 a month, but not a free plan. Honestly this was really helpful to separate good feedback from just cursory feedback.
You're right, feedback is super useful. I don't have a great channel for that myself at the moment.
Some of the absolute best feedback I got were from cold calls. I'm not going to say this is efficient, or even the best way to do it, but I personally got a lot of value out of that. That includes how to conduct myself in customer conversations at all.
Very interesting. what's your next step after launch ?
Marketing, what else. Jokes aside, I do actually need to replicate my first customers and help add value there. That potentially includes Indie Hackers :) so if any of y'all have questions about it, let me know. Here's the pitch from the launch:
"Build an AI FAQ and answer any customer question in seconds, improve conversion by routing customers to what you want them to see, and discover what they want to know. No more cluttered websites, no customer support mazes, no frustration."
Haha not bad. If I was your co founder i would probably suggest change your pitch to " Stop losing customers from slow responses, start engaging in seconds by AI FAQ. "
Or something simple and clear. What's your goal of this product ?
Yeah I am thinking about how to refine it over time. For now, got some new customers with feature requests. More international interest than I expected.
Awesome, congrats !
Congrats! That’s my next step.
Thanks! Let us all know how it goes. I'm always curious to see what everyone's building and how we can help each other.
