A lot happened at NameRobot at the end of last year. Two of our founders sold the majority of their shares, and my long-standing business partner and I were faced with an important decision: should we take over NameRobot completely?
We have been self-employed together for around 20 years, so we gave it careful consideration. NameRobot is an exciting project with great potential, but the infrastructure is enormous. The administrative effort is high and the numerous components require a lot of maintenance. Despite these challenges, we ultimately decided to take over the company completely and take it to a new level.
The handover went smoothly and all the founders parted on good terms - a deal that felt right. But before things could really get going, the formal hurdles had to be overcome: Notary appointments, bank matters and lots of paperwork. This process took a whole five months, but last week we finally got the final go-ahead from the notary!
With the official closing, it was the perfect time for me to get a detailed overview:
What services are there?
How old are they?
What do the funnels look like?
What is the technical state of everything?
What dependencies exist?
At the weekend, I started analyzing the entire infrastructure and taking it apart piece by piece. I created an organizational issue for each individual service. The figures speak for themselves: we currently manage 23 domains (including subdomains) and 10 different services.

NameRobot has great potential, but there is also a lot to do! Many of the existing services are more than ten years old - so we need to modernize them extensively. I will document the entire process and share the progress publicly.
I'm looking forward to leading NameRobot into a new era! 🚀
