Notix: Building an advanced Notion Web Clipper

Hello Indie Hackers community,

I'm stepping into uncharted territory today by not only publishing my first post here but also starting my journey of building in public. It's been a year-long endeavor, where I spend my weekends and whenever I could find a spare moment building Notix, an advanced Notion web clipper. While it's far from perfect, I believe it's time to share it with the world and seek feedback.

Introducing Notix

Notix is a web clipper for Notion, and my attempt to make the Notion experience even better. I started Notix because I felt the existing solutions were either lacking features or unreliable. Furthermore, I also wanted to add some AI capabilities.

Here are the features that make Notix unique:

• Page editing directly within extension: You get a similarish editing experience as in Notion directly in the extension, so you don’t have to leave the current context.
• AI: Summarize, translate, find tasks, explain content from a website and store it directly inside of Notion.
• Screenshots and Videos: Capture and insert visual content into a page.
• Predefined Blocks: Save time by easily inserting predefined blocks to streamline your workflow.

The challenges

Marketing

I'm a developer and designer, and, to be honest, marketing isn't my strong suit. So, I'm faced with the challenge of getting Notix into the hands of users who can provide valuable feedback. I'm not entirely sure where to find my first users, but I'm eager to learn. My initial strategy involves investing in SEO to make Notix more discoverable. I also plan to reach out to online communities that might profit from Notix. So, if you have any suggestions or want to be one of the first to give Notix a try, I'm all ears.

Pricing

Notix is completely free to use at the moment. This allows you to test it out and provide feedback without any barriers. However, I do have plans to introduce pricing in the future. The idea is to offer different pricing tiers, starting at either 3 or 6 Euros per month, depending on the features you need. I am not sure though if that is too high or too low, or if the tool even provides enough value to users to pay for it.
