Paying $200/month for 6 AI tools, probably only need 2. Building a free quiz to help solopreneurs cut their AI stack — worth it?

Background: I'm a solopreneur running Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Manus, YouMind, and Spokenly. That's ~$200/month and honestly I spend half my time deciding which AI to open for a given task.

HBR 2026 research calls this "AI Brain Fry" — using >3-4 AI tools increases decision fatigue 33% and errors 39%. Checks out.

I'm thinking about building a free quiz:

  • 5 questions (role, budget, top 3 workflows, tech level, biggest pain)
  • Output: your minimum viable AI stack (2-3 tools) + what to cancel + monthly savings
  • Not "discover more tools" — the opposite: "you need LESS"

Questions for the community:

  1. How many AI tools are you paying for right now? Do you actually use all of them weekly?
  2. Is "too many AI subscriptions" a real problem, or am I alone here?
  3. Would a quiz like this be useful, or do you just ask ChatGPT?
  4. If I build this, what would make you share it with other solopreneurs?

Brutal honesty appreciated. Trying to validate before building.

This is definitely a real problem. I’ve gone through periods of paying for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity at the same time, and eventually realized the bigger problem wasn’t finding another AI tool — it was figuring out which ones were actually earning their monthly cost.

I like the idea of the quiz, but I’d make the recommendation depend heavily on the person’s actual recurring workflows. Instead of asking which AI they like, ask what 3–5 jobs they need AI to perform every week. Then recommend the smallest stack that reliably handles those jobs.

I’d also show the overlap. Seeing “you’re paying for three tools that you primarily use for the same two tasks” would probably be more valuable than another feature comparison.

The monthly savings at the end would give people a concrete reason to share the result.

Maybe a8k.me could help. It's for simple tasks, but flat-priced, private and mostly unlimited. Appreciate if would give a shot

AI Brain Fry’ is the perfect way to describe it. Most of us are paying for six tools but only actually 'working' in two. Helping people cut the fat is a much bigger business than building another wrapper.

Since you're trying to validate this quiz, you should build it and launch it inside the Validation Arena (tokyolore.com).

It’s a 30-day $19 entry sprint where the goal is to prove your idea has real legs.
The prize pool is at $0 right now, and since your tool literally saves people money, you'd probably be the most popular person in the competition.
The grand prize is a trip to Tokyo! 🏆
