Platform for devs looking to join a startup?

Is there a platform where developers can find startups to join as co-founders or early-stage hires? I've used CoFounders Lab in the past but it wasn't helpful, as everyone had their own idea and didn't really seem interested ditching their idea to work on someone else's.

Have you tried AngelList? Lots of startups primarily from the Bay Area looking to hire there

Thanks for the suggestion @pv1. I'm actually the opposite side of the coin; a startup looking for a platform full of developers who don't have ideas of their own but want to join a startup.

I'd join the next Startup School batch (starts tomorrow, everyone gets in). Will be somewhere around 20k people participating. Tons of people looking to partner up there. https://www.startupschool.org

Thanks @Gabe! I'm actually already signed up for Startup School but appreciate the suggestion 👊Aside from learning anything new, I'm definitely hoping to meet some devs looking to partner up 🤞

Nice! I’ll be there as well. Hope you find someone to partner with.

Hi Travis, I also tried CoFoundersLab without success.

I've also been thinking about building something like this, so if you want to team up, then my email is on my profile page.

I wish I had enough time to build this idea too but I have to stick with my current idea, https://www.indiehackers.com/product/cartsaver. Thanks @jaakit 👊

Yes, stick with it and good luck!

    It's not a platform problem.
If you are looking to be a co-founder and work on someone's idea it's an ideal place (and IH btw too).
If you are looking for someone to join your startup it's definitely a wrong place. But the problem is if you have the money you can hire a developer easily. If you don't have money, it's hard no matter which platform you use - because nobody wants to work on somebody's idea for free.

although this is a good idea. Work on ideas for free. Probably wouldnt work though.

Yes, a lot of people work on somebody's idea for free. If the projects are free too :) and called open-source :))

I'm also looking for startup opportunities. If anyone is looking for a solid full stack web developer, hit me up! My Github: https://github.com/dcmox

@dcmox - Are you looking for opportunities to join as a co-founder or a hired dev? If the former, check out https://www.indiehackers.com/product/cartsaver and hit me up at [email protected] if it's an idea that you would be passionate about as well.

I don't have a good answer for you, but I had the same experience with CoFounders Lab.
There is starthawk.io , formerly startbee.io that came out of YC Startup School last year. It seems to have the same issue.

Thanks @Blake_Emigro. Yeah, I've heard of them also but, as you mentioned, it doesn't seem very effective. I'd love to find a platform full of only developers who are wanting to join someone on their startup. Contemplating building it to scratch my own itch 🤣

I forgot, there is also "The Pond" app for co-founders, not specifically devs. I installed it many months ago but there were not many users so I didn't do anything.

Make the app and then let me know :-)

Thanks again @Blake_Emigro! Hadn't heard of The Pond. I'll definitely check it out.
