Post your landing page and let others describe what your company does!

Does your landing page describe your project well?

  1. Visit someone else's landing page for 10 seconds, then come back and tell them what you think their product does.
  2. Link to your own landing page, but don't say anything about it.

I honestly don't understand what you do in 5 mins spent on your site

    3. 1

The only clue I had about what this offers is the SSL cert mentioning mortgage. The landing page doesn't say what you do, who for or why they should stay.

    4. 1

Your hero section is extremely broad/general. I just understood what you offer after scrolled the whole page down, in the last phrase: "Get pre-approved for a mortgage or to refinance in less than 20 minutes.".

    5. 1

Mortgage I think. The main place I notice that the name was "Better Mortgage Co." was from the little HTTPS lock to be honest.

I don't think so. You can get a general idea from just looking at the titles. Just the name of your site gives a pretty good idea. Plus I think you want people to start clicking around and figure it out for themselves by experiencing the content.

This is an interesting challenge - you absolutely can't tell what my product does after spending 10 seconds on the landing page...

But it doesn't matter. Because the landing page performs insanely well anyway.

    Why?

Because you don't need to understand what the product does in the first 10 seconds...

You just need to want to carry on reading.

    1. 3

      Ok. I am still reading...

      1. 1

There wasn't a conscious decision to actively not tell you what the product does in the first 10 seconds.

It's just that it's counter productive to tell someone what your product does before you get them engaged and excited by understanding how their life will be better after using your product.

Sometimes that involves explaining a pain you'll fix for them.

Regardless, it's rarely possible to achieve well in under 10 seconds.

You build mobile app prototypes cheap for startups. I'm guessing it is build on a template but probably has a decent amount of customization.

      1. 1

Yep! They are fully custom but we do use UI kits to speed up development and ensure the apps look great whilst making the offer feasible.

        1. 1

I feel like you would need to charge a lot more for them to be fully custom. Will you only take on apps that aren't super complex? Seems like there could be a lot of variation in how long an app takes.

          1. 2

            That's right...

Right now it's very early on, so we're adjusting the exact scope of service as we progress.

Currently, the main limit is the number of screens, so limited to 10.
We're also excluding certain functionality such as AI, ML, VR, AR, Bluetooth connectivity and the like which are quite complex to develop.

Using UI kits lets us do the frontend development pretty fast whilst making sure the UI looks great.

Also, as we go on, for functionality like Login/Signup, we will have a set 'template' API to integrate super quickly and effectively.

This leaves a lot of room for almost any kind of startup app/MVP.

            Hope that helps!

It is an analytics service like google analytics but with some advanced features ?

    1. 1

It took me about 20 seconds to parse the tag line.

"API driven content management ("Isn't most content management API driven ? Does this mean what I think it means ?") combined with conversational analytics for voice apps ("Wait what ? What are conversational analytics ?")

I'm off-brand here, I think. Maybe show me something other than words and bright orange to indicate that this is a place for voice app developers ?

    1. 1

Create a link that can be used to receive BTC, LTC or ETH. I got totally refocussed by the animated cookie announcement box and stopped reading to wonder how "No, customise" is even possible. I mean, if it's no, there's nothing to customise, right ? What other options are ... time's up.

Also I misread the domain by transposing two letters to get bitchrage.co, which left me wondering what the heck does this do !?

Back up folders from your Mac to Google Drive or Dropbox, in an encrypted format. Questions: are regular iCloud and Dropbox backups not encrypted? How is this different/better than using one of those?

      1. 1

Thanks, Corbett. No, your files are uploaded to Dropbox and Google Drive as-is, meaning that those companies can access the contents of your files if needed. The transmission is protected with SSL, of course, and the files may be encrypted at rest on their servers, but they still have the encryption key. Rebel Backup stores a secret key locally and securely on your computer, and only you have access to it (and can decrypt the files).

Captures everything I type on my computer and saves it to find later. Not sure I want everything I type to be saved though... and I worry about privacy + where this data is kept.

      1. 1

Everything is stored locally! Also you can go "incognito" any time you're viewing something you'd rather not be saved.

Looks like a platform for creating shareable (medical-info-oriented?) quizzes. One thought: I didn't know what an "MCQ" was, and you don't spell it out anywhere on the page that I see.

      1. 1

Yep, that's correct! That's a really good point regarding MCQs, I'll write out "Multiple Choice Question (MCQ)" in full at first, then switch to the abbreviation. Thanks for the feedback :)

First thought: installing plugins/software (kind of like plugins on wordpress but for your website)

After reading the subheading: a tool for managing things like google analytics tags and other tracking codes

I think the "apps" part was a little bit confusing for me while "integrations" seemed immediately clearer

      Website looks great!

      1. 1

Thanks @benm! I've been wondering about using the term apps vs integrations. Maybe the term apps have a too strong connection to native mobile apps?

        1. 2

I might be bias because I use "apps" all the time in my wording for my product and because of that I hear app and I think: web app or mobile app

It might be different depending on who you're targeting too. If you're targeting less technical folk then "apps" might be the perfect word for it. Ultimately it depends on what words your customers use

      A thesaurus for product descriptions

      1. 1

It's not just synonyms which is what a thesaurus would do.

We give suggestions for adjectives, fix your spellings, provide similar words, and give you suggestions for triggers i.e. word associations that people make with keywords in your product title or description.

E.g., if your product is a "Blue coat", it might suggest "Royal Blue Coat" because Royal Blue is common word association.

    2. 1

Content creation for product listings - Of those 3 sentences at the top of your page, I'd bold/increase font size more. I wasn't sure which one was dominant.

      1. 1

It isn't exactly what you suggested but I did take your idea and gave it a bit of twist. Basically, I wanted to avoid focusing too much on the mechanics of ChicShop and highlight how it can help the user.

        1. 2

          Oh - got it.

To be honest, I didn't get the "Teamwide awareness" at first - I'd try to be more direct:
          • Know what your team is working on
          • Get a unified view of your team daily tasks and progress. Keep everyone on the same page and know your whole team work status in an instant.

          1. 1

Good point! Thanks for the great feedback. I can see how "teamwide awareness" is kind of a meaningless set of words and doesn't really talk about the problem/solution.

I'll try to be more direct like you said - I appreciate the help!

            1. 2

              Glad I helped! 🙏

      1. 1

Pretty much hit the nail on the head! Where do you think I could be more clear in getting that across?

        1. 2

I think it's really clear to be honest. I personally don't suffer the problem myself as a solo founder, so I can't speak for people on teams who would find this useful
