Product launched and landing page feedback - would you pay for it ?

Hello all, I've released https://www.getdatapipe.com/ this week, in private beta - it's been in the works for the last couple of months. It was initially built for my needs but have pivoted a lot of times since then.

I'd like to get some feedback on the following:

  • does the landing page says what the product does ?
  • do you think you will use the product on your next or existing project ?
  • would you be interested in becoming my private beta users ? if so reach out anytime - would be highly appreciated

thank you!

I think I would totally be a customer, assuming:

    • My rough understanding of your product is correct (expose data buried in various services in a uniform way)
    • Datapipe can act as a connector in Google Data Studio

      hi @omneity

      • you are correct, expose / deliver data via an API
      • I just had a look at Google Data Studio and thank you for introducing to this new service from Google. This is doable, the connector just need to be built - I'll keep an eye on this

would you be open to becoming one of the IH beta user ? otherwise drop me an email richard [at ] getdatapipe.com thank you

Nice product, would pay for it if I had a use case.

Thank you, in hindsight there’s a lot of use-cases for this simple product.

      to name a few

      • kiosk api
      • workflow extension
      • FM station playlist for DJ for a website widget
      • TV/Movie scheduler API for website widget/ticker
      • billboard ads

All can be managed through Google Sheet. Cheers

Looks good) BTW, better question is “would you pay for it?”

Ahah nice one! thank you, will change it

It was clear to me within seconds what you do, without having to read too much.
I really like that you have a demo as well, that would increase my confidence. I think if someone makes the effort to try the demo, they're probably half way to converting!
I don't need this at the moment, but my one concern from the start is WHERE my data would be resting. Your text says "stop worrying about servers", and I know what you mean - but as a data custodian I always have to worry about it :-) If you're hosting on AWS, I would put that clearly - that gives some immediate trust. Or some other cloud provider that would be known to technical customers.

Hello, this is another great feedback.

few things on top of my head:

      • yes, the whole infra is on top of AWS.
      • i will provide multiple api endpoints based on your location, if you’re concern about your data moving outside of the country / territory eg. If you’re in US, then you’ll use api-us.getdatapipe.com, api-eu.getdatapipe.com, you’ll get the gist.
      • i will update the website to give more emphasis on data protection and where will your data will be at rest
      • the pricing plan is not yet up but another option - enterprise account - you host your data, or run the whole infra on your premise.
      • if not running on premise - enterprise user - I’m open for having a 3rd party security evaluation to satisfy your data protection requirements

      Thank you for your feedback!

      Cheers

    Hello all,

Just a couple of heads up on what happened 4 days after asking for a feedback. Overall it's been great so far. I've written a short blog: a quick summary and what has been done so far.

    A super quick summary:

    • exposed 4 API endpoints on major AWS regions,
    • updated the landing page with emphasis on where and data is stored.
    • sent private beta invitations

    See more details at

the bottom left "json data models" : why is it there? Does it imply the service will deliver all data in JSON?

    1. 1

hi, thanks for looking at it. yep I initially thought of just JSON response, at least on this release - but if there's a demand for other formats like XML, GraphQL or RSS Feeds - should be doable.

what are your thoughts on that ? thanks

      1. 2

that's cool. All I am saying is that it's not clear why that json bit is there. Maybe change the wording or remove it all together.

        1. 1

Great feedback. Looking at it again, sounds like limiting the functionality of the service - will change it or remove it . Thank you
