Revue teases newsletter subscription from Twitter profiles

Revue tweeted a few screenshots of the upcoming option for subscribing to newsletters from Twitter profiles. The feature was hinted to shortly after Twitter acquired the platform.

If a user has a Revue newsletter, their Twitter profile will show a section featuring the title, thumbnail, description, and a prominent subscription button. In a related tweet Revue said the feature is coming "soon" and will help writers turn their Twitter audience into newsletter subscribers.

    Hey @PaoloAmoroso great feature right!

Sadly I'm using Encharge myself for sending out newsletters, though.

Made a little script though that syncs your Revue subscribers to your Encharge mailinglist, so you can use the native feature, but still use Encharge as your go-to newsletter platform.

Are you using Revue yourself or are you using another provider?

Thinking of reworking the script to be used with Mailchimp too.

    Curious what you think.

Thanks but I shut down my Revue newsletter, so I no longer use the platform.

What was the reason for shutting down and did you migrate to another platform?

The idea behind the script is that you can use another platform and just keep that native subscribe box as a way to get people to your newsletter hosted somewhere else.

I posted a postmortem to explain why I mothballed the newsletter.

Although now I have a blog hosted at Write.as that lets readers subscribe via email, thus doubling as a newsletter, I have no interest in keeping the Revue subscription box around. As the postmortem notes, I got zero growth or engagement via Revue and Twitter.

This experience motivated me to do a fresh start with the new blog and Mastodon, and it's paying out.

Ouch sorry to hear that my man. Building an audience can indeed be though. Wishing you all the best building an audience on your blog 💪

Thanks, I'm having a lot of fun. There's life beyond mainstream platforms.

Of course! And having fun is a big motivational driver to keep on going, and people will see it in the way you write your content.

                Enthusiasm is contagious!
