I'm a dev, so not the target market, but I am mostly intrigued by the contents of the book.

I wonder if you could make your opening paragraph more punchy and more direct with the value proposition. Something like:

This book will teach you the fundamentals of software engineering, how to become proficient in Swift, and take you on the path to creating your own iPhone apps.

You’ll learn everything you'd learn in an introductory computer science college course, such as variables, loops, and conditionals. You'll also learn respected industry professionals about their experiences learning to program. Finally, you'll complete exercises that will help you develop into a professional engineer.

This is great copy! I implemented a lot of it, thanks for the feedback! And actually, non-devs are the target market, so I'm glad you were at least intrigued :)

You're welcome - happy to take another look whenever you'd like!

I think you misread my comment, I'm actually a dev 😀

One quick thought: do non-devs know what Swift is? Maybe the 'create iPhone apps' should have higher priority than 'learn Swift' value proposition.

Learn how to think like a programmer with variables, conditionals, arrays, loops, functions, and more!

Wouldn't you bold the "think like a programmer" vs the terms your audience might not know?

The header image for me feels like wasting a lot of space that could be used to deliver a message

I took your advice on bolding selling points instead of terms, thank you! And I'm definitely going to have to put some thought into the header image
