Send me your product, I'll send feedback

Hello guys, I have literally just quit my job to focus all my energy on my venture. I am doing a little experiment where I want to try out three new products everyday for the next 30 days! Anything as long as it is not Top-down b2b SaaS.

Comment your project, I ll give you feedback in 24 hours.

NO WAY. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS DENNIS. Literally I just tested referrals last issue and wanted to set smth up professionally. Viral loops was the best option I found but I was deterred cuz it was crazy expensive 99$/month starting. so this is fire! I love it! Please support substack so I can get started. PLEASEEEEE. Happy to take this further offline.

Landing page is clean and simple + screams ur character brand (playful) I love that about it. The demo video while it does very clearly explain how to setup, it doesnt follow the same kind of playfullness of the entire site. Its a bit dull tbh(couldnt watch past 20 sec)

Your affiliate program seems very generous, and kudos for implementing that very early. Given that all your customers already have distribution (duhh they are newsletter) this can be 🔥. Very forward thinking from your end.

I have some trouble with the As seen in, i know for a fact that morning brew developed their own referral scheme (they talked about that extensively on twitter). Your wording here is a little deceptive. I would suggest something like "Inspired by" instead unless these are actually ur clients and I am mistaken.

      1. 1

Awesome thanks for you feedback :) Working on something for Substack right now but it will not be the same experience like with other providers because they dont have APIs or variables (https://www.firewards.com/kb/referral-program-for-substack). But I have an idea and I am working something out :)

Deck for Reddit - alternative Reddit client optimized for desktop.

    https://rdddeck.com

    Appreciate for any feedbacks. 😊

    1. 2

Soo this really reminds me of tweetdeck which i loved. It is def more optimized than reddit ( I hate their UX) and can see it growing rapidly once it catches the eyes of a few hardcore reddit(ers). I think this can easily be a 6 figure side hustle. EASILY.

The experience overall is very joyful. So much more info coming at me in a very organized way. Navigation is also very intuitive, which is harder than it seems given how many different tabs are there. expanding, and contracting comments and the back that appears on the top was very impressive. I enjoyed that and found it easy to understand. I usually struggle with navigation whenever I land on a new site. Here I really didnt.

You have three subreddits to begin with. May I suggest making it 4? Why? becuase with 3 when I click on any one of them nth happens. I didnt understand what these where for for a minute there. I got it obvs once I tried adding a few more subreddits and then pressing on them to see that it scrolls the page to the appropriate one. Neat feature there though

UPDATE: I am working my way through the list..thank you so much for all the comments..I ll hammer them all in the next 3-4 hours! If you think my feedback is of value please consider giving a shoutout to my newsletter (first1000.substack.com) on twitter or other social media platforms. I will provide feedback regardless, but it would be a nice gesture from your side 😊.

It's a Facebook Ads Targeting detailed video course. Cheers! :)

Okai so I am a big fan on gumroad. I wonder how was ur experience like? I never heard first hand from anyone who uses it? Would you recommend it?

So what you are offering is really cool. Specially the added benefits and support but I still wasnt sure what exactly to expect out of the course. There is a chart there that I didnt understand. U are having some arbitrary ROI on what i assume are campaigns u r running? I wanna see LIFT. % increase, case study that kind of thing. Also who are these people u r running campaigns for. I knw u cant say a name but maybe a one liner description "Saas startup with 1m in ARR...etc" so people can relate. I dont really get the point of ur ROI sheet. Also why isnt it in $$? are most of ur customers in India?

I also would love to see a preview, i get bombarded by similar messaging of people offering help to improve our marketing, why yours is the best?

      1. 1

Thanks a lot for this feedback. Putting out the revenues is a great idea actually, will tweak it. Also, I haven't put lot of info on the case study coz it would be too much to read. The charts are there to establish some credibility on my profile.

Noted on the preview part. Let me figure how I can do that :)

    1. 1

Okai so I finally got to Zubbit. Sorry it took so long. I am not a big fan of the animation u have throughout the site. Reminds me of the old powerpoint days.

The subtitles is also soo sooo large. It is distracting (in a bad way) and the descriptions are way too much. I am not ever going to read that if i randomly landed on ur website. These few things actually would make me shy away from the website. it didnt look "legit"

Same thing with the "why" section it is a huge excel-like table with every feature u ever offer. This is way too much. I dk how much ur session length is. But try to explore that as a thought experiment. See what the average session is. See how long it takes you to read everything on the website and then start optimizing from there. Make everything on the website "understandable" in less than the avg time it tkes for someone to bounce off ur website. This would be a good restraining exercise to go through.

The illustration on the landing also really doesnt fit the website at all. This looks like clipart and red and orange are not in ur color scheme! The first letter in the description as soon as u land is not capital. Again this is part of the "legit" argument. Try adding smth other than blue to ur scheme, it is too much.

I knw this is a bit on the negative side, but I really hope it is helpful.

      Love,
      Ali

      1. 1

Cheers Ali, I don't' class any feedback as negative. it's just feedback and useful data and opinions. Thanks so much for spending the time to take a look. Phil

Any feedback on zubbit.io would be most appreciated - thanks!

https://starboard.gg, thank you! It's more of a tool than a product right now though, there is no monetization.

    1. 1

Okai, so i knw u said its not a product but I had no idea what u do. This was a maze to me. What exactly is a cell-by-cell notebook?

Your play buttons are not very clear as the first call to action. I see a lot of code that i can run, i press the first section it prints hello world. again what does that tell me about ur product? nth. So i have to spend a good amount of time looking through the code, running every section trying to wrap my head about when in the world would I need this and actually i still dnt knw.

Maybe try pushing a demo on top, with no code and then the call to action be smth like "figure out how to build this" and it would scroll to the appropriate part of the code. I NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IT IS U R DOING IN 30 seconds. Otherwise I am out of this website. I wonder if this is a consistent thing with other users? How does ur bounce rate look like? Is it >70%? Cuz that could be a quick fix if it is.

On the plus side. UR call to actions are very clear. U have two big buttons at the bottom, that include a free tagline and summarizes what to expect if i click each. This sounds simple but was one the better CTA I have seen from all the products I have been reviewing now. I guess you need a demo that is a lot more intuitive and some sort of landing message that nails it in 1 or 2 sentences. Thats it

      1. 1

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this :). It's a pretty specialized tool used mostly by data analysists/engineers/scientists and I completely assume that one already knows what it is.

I'll need to really think about my tagline!

        1. 1

I dont think that really the pro

    1. 1

      Hellooo,
Sorryy it took so long. I didnt expect that many comments! Anyways I finally had a chance to look at what you are doing!

I think what you do a very good job with is that fact that there is not much going on. Like u explain throughout the webpage in layman's terms whats going, who is it for and what to expect. Becuase it wasnt too much, I actually was inclined to read it(which is not always the case btw). Thats def a fantastic thing!

What I was missing though is actually be able to imagine the solution. I didnt quite knw what to expect until i created an account. When I landed on the dashboard it told me to go to the accounts page. Why was that? Why havent i been taken there from the begining since I am a new sign up? while it seems straight forward from ur view, when navigating any new service the thing i hate most IS TO KEEP JUMPING BETWEEN TABS. cuz keep in mind i have no idea whats going on. i just want to get started ASAP. If you firmly believe there is value in landing on the dashboard, then at least add some "demo figures" there that will be replaced by real data when I add my account, and give me an option to add my account in the dashboard if it is empty. I dont wanna keep moving back and forth.

I also saw u only have chase? or was that a bug?

      Anyhow, great job here!

      1. 1

Yeah just Chase for now, starting small since I know Chase the best, would be hard to keep up with all of them. Thanks for this!

    1. 2

"Look through the catalogue to find hidden gems you won't find anywhere else" this def caught my attention. But i have no idea what u r referring to after interacting with ur website multiple times. Nevertheless for the website, I really liked the fact that u forgo the whole landing page stuff and went straight to the goods. I loved that cuz I was interacting with the value prop from the very start, i didnt have to go through a ridiculous sign up process before I even knw if that is smth I want.

I think there is value in what u r doing, discovery is becoming hard, and the streaming services are more than ever. I dk where smth I want is anymore I have to keep searching 5-6 different websites. Also adding pirate bay was a smooth move opens up a whole new set of audience. Problem is, I dk when I ll visit the website again, the "hook" to keep me coming back is still missing cuz i dnt check for new movies every day not even every week. maybe after a couple of months I would want to find smth new but to have poppedcorn on top of mind when that happens is a little bit difficult. If this would be primarily driven by SEO then thats a different story, a longer path but a lot more sustainable over time.

The website itself is very neat. Beyond the vague tagline (not a big fan) I liked everything else about it. The donate button could be bigger though, it feels tiny for some reason but other than that GREAT JOB

      1. 1

        This is great feedback.

Your note on only using the site once in a while, and that SEO is an option to help drive sustained traffic - well I didn't even think of that.

Thanks, I'll rework this to optimize for SEO, and I'll try to see if there's maybe some feature that'd interest people to use the site more often.

Hello, a different (weird for many) kind of stuff:
    Mowned.com

    1. 2

I like the idea. I was actually talking about that with a buddy of mine a couple of weeks ago. I dont know still what to do after I create my timeline, it takes up a lot of time and I am not sure what I ll do with it. Maybe share it on my group chat but thats a hella time to invest to share a post with my 6 friends.

UI is great but UX is a bit confusing. The big ADD button changes to a cancel button(yet has the + sign) while I am adding a new phone. I just presumed that this was the "add more phones" buttons and kept having to restart my journey until i figured it out. "Used until" "primary" and the different values you are using are also not clear. I put 2008 in used until and it wouldnt allow me to continue. I think you may need to dumb it down a lot. Just make the whole thing a lot simpler and faster to do.

Would be cool to create a few timelines on homepage maybe like Obama or Kevin hart to demonstrate how it works/show the value of the end product.

      1. 1

        Hehe.. Thanks!

What I've observed is that people use the site, beside sharing on social media, for tracking their phones or for forum signatures (yes, there are still some forums there). Me personally, the day i got a new phone, i go to my profile and i add it. This way i know exactly the day I've got the phone (for whatever reason)

Funny, that "+" button should convert to a "x"

        photo

I agree with used until, primary - need to work more on those (i've tried different iterations, yet need to improve more). The idea of used until and primary is that you cannot have the phone as primary if you're not using it anymore. Meaning "used (it as main phone) until" is for past, primary for present. WIll definatelly have to tweak this more.

I got a a link to a demo showcase right in the second section of the homepage. I was thinking to hire a video animator that can tell the story in an interactive way.

Ah and one more thing - all the other stats from the site (most owned phones in a particular year for eg) are build based on people's timelines.

Thank you for the feedback - really the most in depth and on point feedback i got so for!

    Hey,

We are working on Wicked Templates.

Some feedback is always great !
    Thank you for doing this.

    1. 1

      Okai first off congrats!
I have seen quite of few CSS templates, yours specially stands out i guess it has something to do with the background design. Its really cool I LOVE IT

The sign up flow is also really smart...where I make a purchase and then it prompts me for a password to sign up. One click into creating an account i didnt even realize it! Hats off to you my friend i think you are capturing a lot of missed opportunity that other people just dk existed.

Same goes with the "Free" -> "Name a fair price". Smart simple hacks! I love your whole approach.

I had a bit of trouble with the purchase. It didnt automatically start downloading. I have to go to "View content" then download. This wasnt very intuitive as i closed off the tab right after purchase.

You also made really good use of the footer/ "bottom" real estate...a place that is also usually under utilized.

As for the templates..I think they are really reaally well designed...I dk if populating a template in the "View" offering would lead to better conversion. like creating a fake website rather than placeholder text and images...maybe smth worth experimenting.

Great job Michael and best of luck!

      1. 1

        Hey @ATA!

Thank you so much for your review, you made my day.
When I started to build Wicked Templates my main focus was the UI and UX.

Mostly because I have seen UI's with poor UX and I really wanted to have an easy fluent UX and be different in that aspect.

I had a bit of trouble with the purchase. It didn't automatically start downloading. I have to go to "View content" then download. This wasn't very intuitive as I closed off the tab right after purchase.

Me too actually, I had exactly the same issue, and we are going to see what we can do next week with that...

I love footers, they are so underrated...and you can do so much.

As for the templates. I think they are really really well designed...I dk if populating a template in the "View" offering would lead to better conversion. like creating a fake website rather than placeholder text and images...maybe smth worth experimenting.

I had the same suggestion a couple of times before actually.

But there is a reason that they look like plain Jane, let me explain.

When I send a template, I send exactly what you see on the site, this is the way I avoid the CSS file.
Also, If I would customize them, and then they open the file and see is completely plain, it would be awkward, from my point of view though.

I don't know if I explain myself but I gave it a go.

thank you ATA. Have a great day !

        1. 1

Yeah definitely makes sense on the template side. I dont think it was a deal breaker cuz as you explained there is value in seeing what you are getting. I dk your conversion numbers or what you are optimizing for, but I just thought its smth to A/B and see if there is a lift in ur rate. But i completely get ur point of view now that u explained it and i think it makes a lot of sense.

Great work, one of my favs so far 👋

          1. 1

            Yaay! On the fav list.

Well, I started my myself around a month and a half or so, I did the Front-End, then I found a Co-Funder

We are not doing paid marketing, just by letting people know a out it and Twitter...

            By now 18 free downloads

Hey, I'm working of Portabella](https://portabella.io), you can think of it as a secure alternative to Trello, but already I'm encroaching on the feature set of Asana/Jira.

Let me know what you think!

    1. 1

Okai I must say WOOOW!!! I can totally see this on TC or equity podcast. As A16Z would say this has a very strong zeitgeist market fit and really hits the nail on whats happening.
      What I love

      • When u said secure..I wasnt convinced..when I onboarded I was like "holy fuck they take this very seriously" I love that about what you did specially with the login password thing that I cant remember its naame.
      • The fact that you make it a point very early on that it is an easy to migrate to solution
-And of course the hacks carousal...THIS IS MY FAV

      Some easy wins.
-In dark mode the color of text while typing on white is so light i can barely see what i am typing

      • The landing page is "too white" i can not tell sections apart.
      • A lot of different font sizes and colors throughout the landing pages. Throws me off a little bit
      • You have a mix of square and rounded edges in the cards detail pages...again throws me off a little bit
      • I found it a little bit difficult to go back to the 1 project i created. Took me 5-6 clicks cuz i wasnt sure where the "home" button is
  8. 1

congrats on taking the plunge @ATA ! My project is xoxo.vc. It's a 30 day challenge for makers. We put people in small groups of 5-10 people and help each other build!

We're only 7 days old and are just starting another group (free) today if you want to join us. Would be fun to have you in there documenting your progress!

The animation on the right gets the job done in terms of value proposition. Without having to read any of your copy, I already understand what the whole site is about. Color scheme for some reason also really stands out. Gives it a lot of professional feel. This feels legit. The copy and call to action are also very clear. I am not having any trouble converting. There are a few underutilized spaces that can help with conversion, first off the bottom of the page. YOU NEED TO ADD A CTA there. I think it was 20-25% of the time spent on a website is at the bottom. I think if you add an anti-spam message under every email capture, might also help with conversion.

Overall, I do love what you have done here. Specially the fact that you keep pulling people into the platform through different Call to actions "request a particle" and a fucking awesome demo. Just cuz its short, annotated and broken up in simple steps.

      💯

So i dont have a windows pc so I couldnt get a chance to actually try it out. I can give you my feedback on your landing page and product offering though

Whoever designed the landing page deserves 11/10. Love it!! Copy is clear so is the value proposition... "i instantly got it" which is surprisingly not the case for 50% of stuff i see. However being "Free" is hidden along the landing page, try to make it more prominent and see what happens to conversion. Also videos take a long time to load, i dk if there is a way to load lower quality content or if that makes sense to u. but in my case it took a good half a minute to play then a bunch of them played together since i kept pressing random videos on the page. That was the only drawback I had using it.

      Cheers!!
