Real talk: I used to think professional user research was the only way to really understand customers.
Hired a firm. Paid $2,000. Got back a beautifully formatted 40-page report that I skimmed once and never opened again. The insights were there, but they were buried, and by the time I tried to act on them, I couldn't remember the context.
The actual problem: It's not that we don't want user insights. It's that:
Traditional methods (surveys) give shallow data
Professional research doesn't scale and takes forever
We're all too busy building to conduct hours of user interviews
So I built Sinthax (www.sinthax.com) to solve this for myself.
The concept: What if AI could have those deep, exploratory conversations with users — the kind that actually reveal why they do things — but do it at scale and organize everything automatically?
How it works:
Describe what you want to learn (like briefing a researcher)
AI generates a conversational interview that adapts to each person
Users respond naturally, AI probes deeper when needed
Get digestible insights, not 40-page reports
What surprised me: Completion rates are insanely high. Turns out people actually enjoy having conversations more than clicking through Likert scales. Who knew?
For indie hackers specifically: This is built for people like us who need real user understanding without the enterprise budget or time investment.
Currently working with early customers and iterating based on feedback (meta, I know).
Would genuinely love thoughts from this community, especially from those who've struggled with the same problems around user research and feedback.
