[Update #4] Setting up payments and user dashboard modules today

Yesterday, the day was all about marketing and sales.
Which means today is the day for development.

Target Items for today

Starting the day now, so thought I will list down some of the things I am targeting to get done in the next 8 hours or so.

Setting up LemonSqueezy

In past I have always used Stripe.
But I have been curious about LS for a while now. I have to admit that the prospect of not having to personally deal with taxes etc. seems intriguing. I think since LS would be the Merchant on record, they take care of a lot of that stuff for the business.

Setting up elements in the user dashboard

I have been onboarding customers 1-1 as of now. Which means, I set everything up for them. But the system needs to be self-serve. So today, customer dashboard is going to be a big focus.

Customers should be able to:

  • Add a new help center to their account
  • Connect their Notion workspace, page, and database where the helpcenter articles would reside. This database would essentially act as the CMS for their help center / knowledge base.
  • Set up the SEO settings for the helpcenter. Title, Meta description, Canonical Url Structure, Og Image, Favicons etc.
  • Divvy up their helpcenter content into easy to manage categories
  • Connect their helpcenter to a custom domain or path (support.example.com or example.com/support)

For the last part, I think I am going to use a similar approach as I just noticed for LemonSqueezy
LemonSqueezy's "add a custom domain" section

The same usecase is applicable in my case as well. No point reinventing the wheel. Their implementation is intuitive enough.

I am not sure how much of this customization I would be able to make automated today, but let's see.

Will update at the end of the day how much I was able to accomplish.

I intend to share my daily progress building the business here. If you have any feedback, advice or suggestions on how I can improve my process, I'll very much appreciate it.

Cheers
