We cut pages instead of adding more — and SEO improved

Quick SEO update from Obolus.

We moved away from the typical “more content = more traffic” mindset and focused on curation and structure instead.

Key changes:

  • implemented strict index/noindex governance

  • reduced sitemap to a curated winner set

  • cleaned up canonical and redirect logic

  • reduced keyword cannibalization across core pages

We also improved our strongest pages:

  • clearer differentiation (tax vs cost of living vs salary comparisons)

  • stronger metadata and snippet targeting

  • more intentional internal linking

Early results from Google Search Console:

  • impressions trending upward

  • more consistent rankings

  • cleaner performance signals

Main insight:
SEO is less about producing more content and more about helping search engines understand what actually matters on your site.

Next step:
→ doubling down on topical authority for the winning pages instead of expanding blindly
