Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! ๐
This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.
Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!
For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. ๐
Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn.
Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!
We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.
If you prefer audio to reading, check out the Indie Hackers Podcast Network and find a show you like.
There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.
Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post a question in the Meta group, or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.
Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! ๐ค
Hello world ! :)
I'm Kevin from France. I'm finishing my master degree in business consulting.
This year I plan to launch one project per month.
Here the first : https://someonefor.com
I'd love to learn and share knowledge/ideas ๐
Hey, Kevin! I dig your plan โย love it whenever people set "N launches in X time" goals. Perhaps I should do it myself.
Life is too short to waste time. What is blocking you to start ? Maybe I can bring you some useful advices ๐
Mostly perfectionism and putting too much time into my day-job. But I'm working on one thing right now (just posted about it as well) โ Feedback/input wanted โ metrics app for indie hackers & startups
I completed your typeform. I hope I will be in beta users ! it's interesting
Thanks, appreciate the feedback!
Hi, I'm Vanisha! We are all going to be victims of covid in one way or another and I'm fortunate enough to say that I didn't get the virus but I did get made redundant from my job in advertising. That led me to get the wheels in motion for my start up, a platform which makes it easier to pick and send flowers to make someone's day. I've just launched an MVP and have limited the platform to just Auckland, New Zealand at the moment (https://bouqo.co.nz). I'm just looking to picking up some helpful tips on the start up journey from other founders :)
Beautiful website @vanisha9. So sorry to read that you lost your job because of Covid-19. Wish you plenty of success in your startup.
Cheers! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Really appreciate it :)
Bouqo looks super cool! I love the idea and the ease of use of the site!
Thanks so much! And thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, really appreciate it.
Too bad, you are not sending to germany right now. Do you plan to collaborate with other companies in other countries?
Definitely. The goal is scaling this to its maximum potential and Germany would be a perfect market for this. I'm bootstrapping at the moment so there's a few steps that I need to take before we can scale :) thanks for checking it out and taking the time to leave a comment.
Hi Vanisha! I'm sorry that covid took your job away. Good thing out of you started your own business! So cool! The website is very attractive, especially the hero illustration. I love the pastel color palette.
One quick nit-picky thing I picked up โย the "Get Started" button at the end of the home page ( and many other elements like "The colours {name} loves... ) are not 'focusable' using keyboard. Meaning if someone is traveling your website mostly through tab, space and enter keys, they'll find it hard to navigate through, because these elements will not be jumped on using keyboard navigation + there's no visual indication to see if an element has been focused over.
For starters "Get Started" can be a <button> html element, instead of a <span> html element, so that it'll automagically be focusable. Maybe you can give this feedback to the necessary person.
Cheers!
Hi Arihant, thanks so much for checking out the platform and for the feedback. It's definitely very much in mvp form at present and there are definitely a whole lot of little things like focusable buttons to work on in the future. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, I do really appreciate it :)
Hey everybody! I'm Jay from North Carolina. This year, I plan to launch a travel site, and will ultimately offer several products to my audience. Glad to be here to learn!
Duplicate.
Also wanted to add that I've been handling design for websites for about a year, and am wanting to improve my skills! Looking forward to learning from y'all.
nice i love north carolina!
Hey guys! It's Artem from Russia๐บ, currently living in Lisbon๐. I've made a simple Instagram CRM for my wife, because she was struggling to manage all her leads there (she sells Chinese courses). Now I'm thinking to adapt it for public access if it has demand, so I created the website on Carrd๐ (am I true indie hacker now?๐)
I guess you have qualified for an indie hacker ;) You also might think about extending some existing platforms, such as salesforce or microsoft dynamics. What do you think?
Hooray! :)
I thought about it, but first, they as I remember already have something like this, and second I'd like to keep it simple, like for small businesses, not so tech-savvy owners. Because those platforms are pretty complicated despite their aspiration to be user-friendly for all.
Yes that is correct! At the same time, your marketing efforts are limited, since you can go through their market place.
Where are you located?
Lisbon, Portugal :)
you?
Hey! It's Michaela, I found indie hackers through elpha (a similar community targetting mostly women), and wow, what a great "go down the rabbit hole" tool you have here.
I am a marathoner, and a triathlete, a feminist, a startup junkie. I advise at #BUILTBYGIRLS, Techstars, am a founding member of Dreamers // Doers and the Wing. I love the art of selling, the theory, the practice, I like everything about it. As my day job (but really the one focus for the past 4 years) I sell fulfillment for a 3PL called ShipMonk.
Starting there from the early day we went from$0 to $158,000,000 in 4.5 years, bootstrapped. We just raised a minority round of $290M (growth equity, private equity) and are bracing ourselves for some even steeper growth. ((Yes, surprisingly that kind of money comes with some aggressive expectations. )) (((who'd think, lol)))
Previously, I worked in the financial industry. I involuntary exchanged the security of such a job (the challenges of immigrants in the U.S. are real) for a $40k starting salary and no roadmap -- The worst best thing that ever happened to me.
Nice Mich! I resonate with a lot of how you describe yourself. Would love to connect further!
I'm all about empowering and helping other beautiful women such as yourself grow!
Hello Indie Hackers Community!
My name is Erykah and I am from the Ivory Coast in West Africa. As a result of life's rerouting, I recently launched a social justice blog called Gold Ink: goldink-blog.com. Gold Ink is a blog that uses writing to trailblaze change. Proudly created from ;Africa, its vision is to build a community that challenges thinking, expands awareness, and widens angles of view. I would love for you to check it out at the link below!
Also, @tanohzana was an incredible partner in that journey and I am so grateful to have been introduced to this community by him! I am here to meet fellow creators and learn best practices to sustain my project!
That's amazing, Erykah! Your site is beautiful and I love what you're doing. (Also, Ivory Coast has been on my "visit" list for a while! Hope to finally check it out on my next trip to West Africa.)
Hey hackers, I'm Paul, and I'm primarily a software engineer, but I love building things in general. I'm an amateur welder, so I've designed/welded items such as a RetroPie standup arcade table just for myself.
But primarily I've been working on getting my time/expense/invoicing software out to the public. I've not been great about joining communities up to this point, so getting the word out has been a struggle.
But here it is: https://logspace.com/
Hi everyone!
My name is Ilia and I'm from Russia. Right now I'm working as a QA engineer.
This year I plan to get inspired from community and find some good ideas for side projects.
Best regards!
Hi, Everyone ! ๐
Ade here. Iโm from Paris, France. But currently living in Miami Florida.
Iโm a non-tech, solo founder with a knack for marketing and anything related to user experience. So if you happen to have any needs in that department, feel free to knock on my ยซย doorย ยป and Iโll try to make the time to review or help in any ways...๐จ๐พโ๐ป
I had to pause the launch of a product for restaurants that I have been working on last year but have decided to go all in this year : http://nudx.co
I hope to be able to interact with kindred spirits or maybe build mastermind alliances here ! ๐๐พ
Beautiful site @Fr3nchy! Non-tech founder here as well. I love Paris, btw!
Thank you very much @jayavery ! And nice meeting you. ๐ What are you working on, if I may ask ?
Hey @Fr3nchy check out builtinmia.com would love to support you and amplify your message with the #MiamiTech community!
Hi @jcalvarez ! Thank you for reaching out. Sounds cool. Iโve just subscribed...๐
Hi, I'm Eric! I'm an experienced Product Manager having worked to grow startups and mature SaaS products.
My goal this year is to launch a new automotive classified platform on a modern JAMstack arch (Vercel) that prioritizes user experience/page performance over everything else and incorporates AMP's Web Story format to improve discovery.
I've worked within the automotive software industry for several years where most platforms are handcuffed by archaic architectures (and attitudes!) and am eager to bring my ideas to life.
I'm currently finishing user flows, lo-fi wireframes, and rough data models. The next step is to find a likeminded technical partner to figure out the architecture to create a blazingly fast user experience.
PS. Any designers who are into the simple/brutalist aesthetic, I'd love to talk with as well!
Im Ramiro, from Argentina. I knew Indiehackers through a friend 2 months ago.
I started with a Digital Marketing Agency a 5 years ago working mainly with automotive and health industry in my country. It was successful, but sadly in my country those industries are very corrupt (among other things...) , so i've got tired of dealing with primitive people haha, so I've closed the agency and i've started to sell digital products. Now I have a few academys selling digital products on Latinamerica and im about to publish them in Flippa.
As a bootstrapper I've learned web design, graphic design, e-mail marketing, automation process, copywriting, sales etc. I've been using Facebook Ads and Google Ads since i've started, so I have a lot of experience with them, that's my speciality.
I will posting some content through this month. Im very happy of being part in this community! I would like to be part of some side projects! Hope to connect with other entrepreneurs
Hey Ramiro,
I came on the platform as a developer looking to learn the other skills needed, mostly marketing as that seems what many suggest working on first before coding, maybe we could help each other out!
Hi! Of course :) Send me a msg
Hi, I'm Gokul from India. I starter my career as a no-code/low-code developer. Really excited for the citizen development movement to grow and democratize app & web development. I am well versed in Webflow. Hit me up if you guys want to discuss about the future of no-code.
Whats up indie hackers!
I'm Hussien. I'm working on a product called gravity.so. We help product teams centralize their user feedback. I'm a long time lurker who has learned so much from this community that I feel a joyous obligation to finally start providing value and sharing lessons I'm learning as I build up Gravity by the bootstraps.
Hello Hussien, I love the design of gravity.so
๐hey all, I'm ben! just starting to learn about coding/no code ...and everything really. I'll be using this platform to document what I'm learning, and I'd love to learn and get ideas from all of you. say hi!
Let's build in public together!
for sure! I need some accountability to keep myself going...I like that you're doing the 30 days challenge with writing, I'm thinking of something like that with coding/etc to get myself moving!
Sounds great - I did it to build up a habit, and it's been working so far!
I totally recommend it - just do it :) In the long term, the things we regret are things we didn't do (as shared in my latest Twitter essay :P)
I'm Asim from the UAE. I have been working in forex trading for the last two years. Please follow this link if you are interested in investing in Forex.

Hey, I'm a self taught dev looking for daily motivation to help me grow in my carrier
Hey everyone! My name is Gene. I'm a recovering business executive in the software industry. I left my job about a year ago to travel the world, but, due to the worst timing ever, I'm still stuck in the Seattle area. I'm hoping to hit the road again this year.
I really love technology, especially new, shiny things. I also love automating all the things that suck. Humans should never have to click for clicking's sake.
As a solo traveler, my current project is an app to help solo travelers find others that share similar interests. I'm excited to get some inspiration from the community and hopefully help some other folks out on their journey.

Hello everyone! I am Travis, a developer from Seattle. I'm looking to draw inspiration from the community and start building some fun side projects. Does anyone have any tips on things that help them when coming up with product ideas? And if anyone needs help with serverless or backend development I'm your guy ๐
G'day hackers,
Pete from regional Australia here.
I'm a 20+ year IT industry veteran who after working under a succession of crap leadership, has decided to leave my long term employer to try being my own boss.
Armed with a broad range of skills and experience across support, networking, development, projects and management with a sprinkle of graphics and game dev on top, the possible directions I could go from here is broad.
I've lined up some consultancy work to keep me afloat and plan to spend the other days working on products.... first and foremost I need to learn how to find a market and sell.
https://2strokemix.com is a little iOS app I wrote to learn some marketing, figure if I can't work out how to give something away there's no point building anything bigger.
Looking forward to sharing the journey with the hacker community.
Cheers,
Pete.
Hi all, my name is Lucy. I'm a newbie on indiehackers, and looking to connect with other innovators in the space of HealthTech and EdTech.
4 months ago, together with two co-founders, we have launched Manatee Mentor www.manatee-mentor.com with the goal to make mentoring accessible and affordable for all professionals from both high and low income countries. It is genuinely a super personal venture and I hope we can pay forward to professionals by sharing the learnings on the road of success.
Manatee Mentor has the goal to be the digital platform to match mentors and mentees by making mentoring simple, trustworthy and accessible to anyone. So far we have enjoyed good feedback: our prototype video attracted 500 sign up for 4 months, one strategic partner - Stage-Co and 40 Founding Volunteer Mentors from organizations like Amazon, Novartis, Google, WHO, MIT, EMCC, SwissCognitive and many more. Our Beta platform is launching as an Android app in 1 month.
We would love to invite indiehackers to sign up and share how we can be better - there is 0 cost for mentoring as long as you're ready to give back to others by earning Mana points - you can be both a mentor and a mentee: www.manatee-mentor.com

Hi I'm Victor! I've been freelancing / digital nomad with a background in tech and marketing but for over a decade have specialized in Excel consulting (yup, spreadsheets!) but during this grounding period I'm transitioning to a digital marketing agency while also productizing advanced spreadsheets made for financial pros.
I'm interested in meeting like-minded folks growing their businesses while living a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
Hi All,
I'm Flavio from Brazil (where I'm from and spent most of my adult life) / US (when I live now).
I've worked in management consulting for the last 13 years and started investing as an angel some years ago, closely advising founders in addition to investing.
I'm now quitting consulting to double down on investing and potentially starting my own company (TBC).
For the next months I'll dedicate a lot of time learning the ways into this new world (and posting lots of questions ;-)
Hello world!
I am Vlad. I am developer for last 7 years. I hope somewhere to left the job and have enough income from my own projects.
Hi World, I'm Jeroen and work as a freelance Flutter Developer. Really like to learn from you all here in this community
Hello friends ๐,
I'm Rafael, a software developer based in Brazil. Over the past few years I've worked on a lot of digital products, both successful and unsuccessful, and I was able to learn a lot about the industry. I'm looking forward to help the community and hopefully launch a new project in the near future.
Feel free to message me if you need any help. ๐
Hello Indie community :)
I'm George, a product manager from London, UK. ๐ I'm in the process of creating a community-based online service for when the pandemic ends. My vision is an app, but for now I am building a non-scalebale MVP to experiment whether there is customer demand initially (a newsletter to start with!). Would love to hear from people that have done something similar?
This is my first project outside of my job so I want to hear from anyone that has experience in the b2c space - and maybe find a mentor ๐
Looking forward to learning from you all!
Heyy nice to join the family

Hit me up if you want to connect and talk.
Hi my name is Jack and i'm a software engineer in backend PHP
Hello Indie Hackers!
My name is Luciano from Dublin, Ireland. I am a fullstack / cloud developer by trade and a maker at heart!
I have been running (and failing) a couple of startups in the early days of my career. In retrospective I think I always had a big vision and very little experience and capital. Now that I have a lot more experience and small bits of capital, I am focusing some of my free time in creating small products and learning the trade to become a more serious indie maker.
One of the products i have been working on in the last few years and that has been giving me a small (but nonetheless rewarding) passive income has been the book Node.js Design Patterns (https://www.nodejsdesignpatterns.com).
Recently, I started exploring the Amazon affiliate market ecosystem and I launched a couple of open source solutions to help people maximise their revenue. A couple of months ago, I took a week off from work to work on a MVP for a SaaS idea that expands a bit on what I learned through the open source projects and I want to use this opportunity to learn more about the craft of indie hackers especially for what concerns the product design elements: how to validate an idea, how to find customers, how to prioritise features and how to find the right pricing strategy.
I look forward to interacting more with the people in this community and share learnings with you all!
๐
Hello!
I am in about 20 years into my career, have run a successful startup, but back in the corporate world, thinking about what could be next, looking at starting something on the side!
Really excited to be here as a Scot living in Australia!
Thanks
Andrew
I agree, that's too great

Hello Indie Hackers,
My name is David and I'm building a video platform with my partner that will allow users to practice their product / startup pitches with others. The product can be found here: www.pitchme.app and the community that we're building around it can be found here: www.pitchback.io (this is where we document our journey as well and will be realsing a lot of our findings and content for the public to help them impove their startup pitches)
Cheers
David
Hi i'm Neil from the Philippines. I'm currently freelancing as a full web stack developer.
Looking forward to be with the Indie Hacker community to learn, grow, and build my own SaaS someday.
For now, this is something I have made as a stepping block: https://theexpressiveink.com/

Hi, I'm Adam from Orlando and I've been blogging for about 11 years.
I decided to start a directory site for CBD companies a couple days ago to help people narrow down their search for the right products.
https://ohheymj.com
I've also been messing with this idea of sharing each company's affiliate program so that people can promote these brands on their socials while also making a few extra dollars each month, especially if they truly love the products.
Let me know what you think and if you have any other ideas, thanks!
Hi Adam,
It's incredible that you've been blogging for so long! I just launched Gold Ink (goldink-blog.com), a blog using writing to trailblaze change. Would you be able to support the project? I would love your feedback if you have any as well!
Hi folks, Shea from NYC here!
I have spent the better part of the last decade helping adtech/media companies scale their sales and marketing efforts. I also confounded a company that failed spectacularly along the way.
Now I am in the feldging stages of launching an ed-tech/peer-to-peer platform empowering musicians, artists, yogis etc. to scale their student base through virtual lessons.
Looking forward to contributing and learning from all you wonderful hackers.
Cheers!
Hello!!
I'm Matt, I live just south of Washington, D.C. in Virginia.
I joined after hearing about the community on Acquired. While I've mostly done freelance work on the side, I'm hoping to dig into it more this year, providing Biden doesn't impact the economy too much :/ (https://www.indiehackers.com/post/how-freelancing-will-change-under-president-biden-a755b122ab).
I've always loved the idea of having a side business that made $200k/year but never got much bigger. Cool to see that there is a community around it.
Hey everyone.
I'm Louis from a Software engineer (former) + UX Designer from the UK. I'm a long time lurker and serial listener of the indiehackers podcast. I've always had the entrepreneurial itch and dabbled in a few different ideas in the past but I'm going at it again in 2021 from a more informed perspective thanks to all the indiehacker/startup content i've binged on.
I'm focusing on helping Junior UX Designers break into the industry - which is proving super hard for many especially during Covid. Just in the customer discovery phase at the moment trying to make sure the target users and problems are well defined.
Looking forward to learning and building with lots of indie hackers throughout what will hopefully be a fruitful year ๐

Hello
I'm David and I'm working on one too many products. I'm also the founder of ThirstySprout where we help other startups assemble remote engineering teams.
Hi y'all. I'm Tommy and I'm an indie hacker! ^^
Hi all! I've been a bit of a lurker on Indiehackers for a while.
I'm a former diplomat and international lawyer, and along with a close friend and former colleague we're building a 'foreign affairs' media brand for the next generation of leaders.
We're currently using a newsletter as an MVP, but have bigger plans for 2021!
You can check it out at https://internationalintrigue.substack.com/
Mostly, I'm just here to learn how to acquire potential customers, and contribute as best I can, and make sure I never have to go back into the corporate world!
Cheers!
Hey John,
Thanks for posting, good to see another Londoner! I like the concept and have signed up for the newsletter.
I am looking to implement a newsletter as an MVP for my idea and would love to know how you make yours?
Cheers
Thanks Geo_tal really appreciate the kind words and response. Happy to share insights, anything you're asking?
Tech stack is landing page + substack right now, but we're absolutely considering options on that front.
Do you mean in terms of how we create the content?
No prob! For now was just wondering which platform you used to design the newsletter. Will give substack a browse ๐
Hi. I am Full. I just joined the community. Happy to be with you.
I am a computer science engineer. I am planning to start a side project as additional income, looking into passive income generation. I like "building and fixing" things in general.
Happy to start this journey.
Hi, I am from Germany and working with Wordpress. I launchend some homepages as sideprojects for some friends in the last years. Now, this year, I would like to create (small) own projects. I am working moonlight.
My first project is inspired by the famous book The Millionaire Fastlane. Author MJ DeMarco is using a WADM decision matrix to make important decisions. So I just created a WADM decision online tool.
I just launched it. Please check here:
https://fastdecision.app/wadm-decision-maker/
Any feedback is very welcome.
Thank you

Hello @rosiesherry & IH community. New here and looking to expand my background and skillset by taking on non-tech projects (user feedback, surveys, training, content development, product market fit, testing mvp's, copywriting, quality assurance, piloting updates, editing, pitch support, etc.). I've gotten my feet wet by providing operations/biz.dev./PMF support to a handful of edtech startups.
Transitioning from brick and mortar educator/administrator to remote support for organizations of any size. Passionate about learning new skills that will add value to my skillset as well as your operations.

Hello winners!
I am exploring options to start a side project. Live in Houston, TX, Mechanical Engineer, with a Masterโs degree in Business, and knowledge of Business Analytics.
Hi all!
I'm Jose from New York and I am currently a business analyst in the supply chain/logistics industry.
I recently just joined a coding bootcamp and want to use my recently acquired skills to build projects. But I don't want to just build any project, I'd rather build things of value of to others as well, so looking to see what I can learn and also give forward.
Hey there everybody,
I'm Adrian, a passionate and experienced conceptual writer and impact innovator.
My co-founders and I are currently building 2 different ventures
Venture A Is setting out to eliminate burn-out syndrome forever by introducing novel technology used in the hospital at the moment to people's smartphones at work.
Venture B Is creating an innovative mobile platform to help micro-, small- and medium-sized businesses access strategic consulting for cheap in order to help them implement sustainable and socially fair business practises.
Excited to make new contact and hopefully find a co-founder (or two :P)
Hi everyone. I'm Nelly from the USA. I've been bursting with ideas for years, and even made dozens of mockups but have never launched something. I'm changing that this year. Hope you guys can keep me accountable.
Hello everyone,
I'm Kyle from Texas and I'm a mechanical engineer at a startup robotics company. My goals are to expand my software skills and start a side business in 2021.
Hello! Just came across this site today. In the process of creating a MVP for my business, using a "no code" software to create it, a real struggle to learn. Design isn't my strength. Looking to build an application for managers to efficiently track their remote employees and ensure they're kept focused on their goals and accomplishing tasks.
wow I'm also using a "no code" software, mind sharing which one you're using.
Also, your idea sounds cool.
Hi everyone, am Desmond Brown from Ghana. Hey guys,
I am Anita from LiveFlow, UK. Previously I worked for Revolut.
Our main goal is to make financial management for startups really enjoyable and fast instead of manual juggling of boring spreadsheets. :)
Here is our website: liveflow.io
We have just started out and are looking for beta testers and tips :)
Hello indiehackers! Max from Berlin here ๐ Working in product by day for n8n.io and then also afterhours in side projects, alongside some motion and brand design :)
In 2020, I spent a year building Stencil, a "custom template canva" product with little customer success. Our infra allows us to deploy custom after effects templates which can be consumed as an API endpoint or via our SaaS portal. That's not a unique idea but we spent a lot of effort on building it out with the potential of IaaS in mind. Ultimately, the product was too vague and startup cost for each user was high + very whiteglove - requiring a custom After Effects template design + scripting.
I really learned the lesson of adhering to a lean product lifecycle and validating early on. This year, instead of scrapping that infrastructure, we're going to attempt a disciplined approach to launching various video related micro-saas solutions on top of Stencil's video API. Niche personae, customer validation at Balsamiq wireframes stage - really validating before picking up any dev tools.
From there, we're embracing no-code tools like Bubble and n8n to build these micro-saas'. I've lurked on various forums like Indie Hackers for way too long, so excited to start the year with an account and to learn, connect and hopefully share some knowledge with this lovely community!
Hello fellow IH's!
I'm Ricardo, from Spain.
I'm a software engineer with more than 10 years working experience and I think it's about time to scratch the itch I've always had for being more independent and building something that fulfills me and over which I have more control.
I'm clueless about marketing and any other thing that is not coding (and sometimes not even that xD), so I have a fair amount of things to learn while traveling this road.
I've already got a couple of half baked Django projects which I plan to launch in this first quarter.
Helloo... I'm Daniel from South Australia. I've listened to the podcast for 8 months or so when I was developing and launching a physical product. Now keen to get into the digital space.
I've finally signed up because I've had an idea to solve the problem of wanting something hand-crafted but not having the skills to do so (basically a fusion of Freelancer and Etsy). I had this problem on the weekend wanting some hose bags made but not knowing how to sew. I solved that problem by buying a used sewing machine and watching youtube, but my idea still stands!
My coding experience goes as far as excel sheets (so nothing really lol). Trying to figure out if I build this with no-coding tools or try the best I can learning it all along the way.
Either way I'm really loving this community and the inspiration it all gives!!
Hi, I'm Max, 31 y.o. backend developer from Russia.
I don't have a big business idea now, but I heard from people that this place is a lot like old and gold internet with alive and bright community, so I'd like to lurk a bit here to get some inspiration and learn about this place more.
If you have questions about Elixir and Ruby - feel free to ask me!

Well, @rosieherry, it looks like I did this initial post almost a year ago, and spent 2020 learning a great deal while continuing primarily in my day job. I'd like to redouble my efforts and actually follow through on some things on the side this year...
I run Cups and Undertow Podcasts. I have a wife and three awesome kids, so I have to hack my hacking hours around family.
My goals for 2021 are to launch actual revenue generating products/services in these areas:
Community Goals:
Active Goals:
There's other stuff, but this is a healthy beginning!
Hiya! My name is Rebecca, and I live the barren wasteland of Ohio, USA. (Just kidding, it's actually a great place to live.)
I work for Postman and we've just announced our first virtual, global hackathon. There are significant cash prizes involved, so I figured I'd join and share a bit about the hack to see if there's any interest. Thanks and look forward to participating in the community!

Hi everyone,
I am Tobias from Cologne, Germany.
Currently I am super bullish on no-code SaaS tools and exploring different solutions in various verticals. Looking forward to connecting with early stage founders as my main profession is being a pre-seed VC. I guess I disappoint some folks here when I add, that my focus is entirely on Germany. So if you know someone that knows someone (and so further and so forth) building some cool stuff, let me know :)
I am also regularly exploring private opportunities to start light-weight projects myself. Will keep you posted if there's any progress on that one.
Hi everyone!
My name is Sani. I set out a goal for 2021 to create more content than I consume, but I hate writing so...

Hi. I am Chinenye from Nigeria. Just got to learn about indiehackers. I am currently working on a new startup an Edtech marketplace/SaaS. Looking for a co founder that will handle the technical side of the startup. If interested you can chat me. [email protected]
Hi I'm Prasad, I work as a Data Scientist for a emerging startup. Other than Data Science, I'm interested in variety of topics.
Hola a todos! I'm Daniel, form Venezuela. I'm a Computer Engineer but my interest and professional experience is in the Web Development field. I have 3 years working with startups, all around the world, it is pretty interesting to take a sit with business people, learn from their experiences and absorb as many knowledge as you can.
I made a list of things I would like to do in this new year, one of those is to read tech articles and create my first company/service.
Tell me, what drives you crazy?
Hey everyone!

Hi, I'm Colin.
Just launched my first app JiffyCV - https://jiffycv.com after around 2 years of building apps outside of my day job for others for free I finally decided last year to execute one of my own ideas.
As I've played every role on this project it's been a really interesting experience and having read Lean Startup really gave me insight into the non-technical feedback loops that need to be set up.
I also realised that my professional circle needs more product focused people so I can learn more from people who haven't got their heads buried in code!
Hey, I'm Fadi! I'm a software engineer, I earn really well my life thanks to my job but I feel that something is missing to make me happier.
What I like the most is helping people, this is what drives me, that's probably why I found more satisfaction in my open source projects than in my day to day job.
My goal this year is to launch my first side business. I have to build an entrepreneur mindset and I know that it will be a long journey to reach my goal. I expect to learn a lot from the Indie hacker community.
Hi, I'm Xin Liu from China, now living in California. I have been working on my project V2EX.com for ten years since it launched on Apr 25, 2010. It is a community of Chinese-speaking programmers and designers. It's kind of like a Reddit with only geek/nerdy subreddits. Ask me anything! :)
What is the stack for the site?
Hello beautiful people
I'm Dave and I'm 2 weeks away from starting a brand-spanking-new job as an Affliate and Brand manager in the Bitcoin space. My goal is to hack growth hacking (finally) and get my company to 10x more traffic and conversions in 6 months. Can it be done?
I'm also brushing up on my web dev skills by building a site for a local charity, and I hope to get it to a level where I can start pushing out projects and helping them grow.
My speciality is in content writing and data/statistical analysis, so if you need any advice in any of those fields, feel free to hit me up.
:)
Aloha. Thank you for the warm welcome, @rosiesherry.
We just launched a new call management/ivr solution (https://blacklab.app/) in India and are excited to share it with everyone.

Hello IndieHackers!
My name's Anthony. I first learned of Indie Hackers a few months back and have been lurking ever since. It's become my go-to morning read and I've finally decided to take the very small leap and sign up.
Looking forward to being part of the discussion ๐
Hi everyone! Recent COVID college grad, worked in EdTech all throughout college and now 9-5 at a private equity firm focusing on SaaS software and services. On the side, I run an essay review site with a former college roommate (veritasessays.org).

Hey Mate!
I am Sharuk, trying to grow a new sect of interest in me for programming. I'm doing web designing sort for two months now. Looking ahead a year to improvise me and my work, and to and create some jaaaams!
Hey,
I'm Gavin, and I'm a web developer looking to learn and grow with some ideas I have! My idea I'm pursing now has to do with web software for small in home daycares, as I grew up in a home with one, and my main proposition is to create something lean and super affordable for those with small daycares that can't afford software, even as cheap as say $30 and up that many larger daycares can. Obviously selling something cheaper than that will be hard to get enough income from very soon, but hopefully this will at least be a learning opportunity for me.
I need the most help learning how to market this idea.
That being said I'm in research mode currently and willing to scrap this idea if doesn't seem to be able to work.
Hi all, my partner and I operate an affiliate marketing platform while we are actively working on developing integrations for Klaviyo users.
I'm happy to finally join this community after waiting on the sidelines for so long.
Hi, my name is John and I am working on Scrutinize. We build anomaly detection software for accounting systems that identifies patterns associated with clerical errors, third-party integration issues and potential fraud.
I'd love any feedback on the product or main site, so fire away!
Hi, I'm Faraz, ๐
If you're familiar with Agile, you probably have heard of sprints and retrospectives. One of the things I miss most about working in the office is the retrospectives. It provided us a way to critique our processes and we could commit to making improvements in our next sprint.
We've tried holding them online, but we've felt that the focus on improvement is lacking. Google Docs, Trello, and even some dedicated online retro tools operate solely as a place to track information.
The reason why we love retros is the focus on continual team growth vs writing down how the sprint went.
So I decided to build Retro - the retrospective tool that will turn your team into winners. ๐
Planned launch for end of Q1 2021. I joined Indie Hackers to learn from other founders and to share my progress as I work towards release.
I'm Basim. I am an engineer at a video making platform (typito.com). Here to learn from you all and probably pick up a side project.
Hi all! I'm Marko. Long-time builder, first-time poster. I'm an engineer-turned-product-manager by day. Now, over the holidays, I started building yet another product โย a tool for indie hackers and startups to track their metrics, all in one place โย taking away the annoyance of checking many different sites and the complexity of most traditional BI tools.
By the way, as the Acquired podcast was my intro to Indie Hackers, I feel like I should do the reverse intro here as well. It's a fantastic podcast about (mostly) tech companies if you're not already familiar.
Hi, I am McKay. I like the idea of starting something on the side, but don't know what that takes. I am here to find out. For work, I write a lot of code and hope to leverage that skill into some extra cash.
Hi, I'm Yan. Living in Belgium and founded a fun startup: StickerPet.com after working 6years for tech start and scale-up companies here. I'm also super geeky about blockchain tech. Hit me up if you wanna talk about pet stickers or blockchain/crypto :).
StickerPet is tempting me. Do you ship to the United States?
Hi, thanks man! Not yet :) but happy to look for partnerships there.
Hi, I am Biling.

Hey, I'm Serge (zserge.com). I have successfully made a number of open-source projects, but this year I would like to try my luck in building small profitable products. So far the biggest challenge is finishing things and overcoming the fear of launch, but I'm sure these will go away once I fail one or two launches.

Hey! I'm Shaun from London.

Hi, I'm Andy and I'm excited to try and build 2+ revenue-generating products in 2021 (even if it's small!). Formerly worked in consulting, marketing, and analytics and now re-learning to code.
Hi, I'm Tim. I've been doing software consulting for start-ups for much of the last decade, rescuing many from code disasters, but I have a few business ideas that I'm working on in my free time.
I have the technology down; I can write code fluently in a dozen languages and platforms, from mobile to desktop to IoT. The only trick is to find the time and energy between contracts that pay the bills to work on one or more of my ideas. Well, that and choosing WHICH idea to work on. :)
Hello I'm Josh. I'm venturing on a new journey creating a startup called Hyper. Hyper is a platform where users can capture and share their greatest, most memorable moments in gaming with the rest of the world. Hi. I'm Joe from California. During my whole career, I have always been a cog of big tech machines. But this year, I want to try something different and build something.
I am a full-stack engineer and am interested in developing business insights. I just finished a website called http://www.canstats.net (WIP).
While I am experienced in finding tech solutions, I am weak in finding the correct business demand. Hit me up if you want to chat.
Hello Indiehackers!
Thanks for being the glue between us @rosiesherry. I'm Arihant. I just quit my job because I realised I could learn something I learnt at job in 2 years in 6 months, and while doing something which I'd care for more and love making on my own.
I'm a primarily web front end developer/engineer ( pateto/patato ). Last time I worked on something of my own was 3 years back ๐. I started working on a desktop editor for instagram poets which I never finished. But it's still pretty useable ( I think ? ) โย https://poetry-editor.now.sh
I stumbled upon indie hacker podcast network while browsing through podcasts in google podcasts and was inspired by Jordan's Closet Tools https://www.indiehackers.com/podcast/187-jordan-oconnor-of-closet-tools
I am also a short fiction writer and poet and dream of running my own literature publication like electricliterature.com and theparisreview.com. For now, I've started working on making something similar for my alma mater's literary magazine team ( using NextJS and sanity.io + wordpress )
Lately, I've been very intrigued by what https://humu.com/ is doing.
I like to read open source code and make videos / write about it, explaining it in detail. I intend to write more about code and personal essays at arihantverma.com
I've an idea I've had for a while, and I think it'd be really useful to the world especially in this covid induced working from home, screens everywhere scenario, but I'd really need some guidance on it. The app would enable people to worry less about dispatching necessary information to their loved ones, so that they can stay away from screens a little longer. I'd love to discuss about it with the community. I've decided to make the app of this idea on my own using Flutter/React Native and Firebase ( things I know few things about, but can ramp up quickly ).
What I need help with โ
Looking forward to receiving and giving back to the community :)
Cheers

Hello,
I am currently a college student and is interested in the indie hacker space.
Nice to meet you.
Hey All,
I've been a member for 2 years but I'm usually more of a lurker than an active contributor but in 2021 I want to work on that and this is a start :p
I've made/helped made a bunch of projects that you can see here but they were usually more geared towards being funny or going the traditional VC route a lร go big or go home and mostly in the consumer mobile space that has limited options of monetization and or require massive scale to be successful.
I've enjoyed building stuff in my spare time and also participating in hackathons from time to time although I feel like I'm getting to old for that (my sleep has become sacred) so I got together with 2 friends that also work in consumer tech companies to work solely on projects that solve problems for either us or for our friends on the side and that have the potential to produce small to medium returns and maybe enable us to work on them full time in the future.
Our first real project will be an app to unify all your sources of work notifications and group them by company, project, feature you name it. Mostly to help us with the different projects that we have and create a clear separation between full-time work and side projects. Feel free to reach out if this sounds interesting to you and I can share a Figma Prototype :)
Hi, I am Marcus!
When I was younger I wanted to become a Movie-director. Since I was young I always had a strong passion for movies and cinema. Originally from Sweden, I enjoy crime-shows (nordic-noir), as well as psychological thrillers (David Fincher Favourite!) as well as Wes Andersson movies and funny comedies. Love discussing the latest movie or tv-show with my friends and family. My background lies in art, design, sustainability and business development.
Have you ever encountered the problem of not knowing what movie or tv-show to watch? CLAP is an early stage start-up with its base in Berlin, Germany aiming to solve this problem. We aim to solve this problem by connecting users with the people they trust the most, their friends and families! Through a social peer-to-peer platform CLAP connects your friends and family to create and exchange movies and tv-recommendations.
I'm here to learn more about starting-up a tech-start up, to gain connections, insights and new friends.
Nice to meet you all!

Hi All,
Jeroen here. I am a data/ business analyst at a scale up in The Netherlands. Just signed up, with the goal of connecting and learning with people who have the same goals. My goal is to do side projects in order to learn more about bootstrapped growth outside of work, while aiming for a more flexible lifestyle due to additional income streams.
To get the ball rolling, my first project is to blog on data analysis for growth and startups, mostly to document my own learnings while helping other data analysts and founders to make better growth decisions as well.
Would love to connect!

Hello All, weโve been working on websites that aggregate the business events in major cities across the US. Our goal is about 50 cities and we currently have 20 up. We know how important networking and meeting people is for business owners and professionals, so that is why we started these hyperlocal focused calendars. Our first calendar was for San Antonio Tx, where we are based (SABusinessCalendar.com). The situation with live events due to the pandemic, as you might imagine, has made us pivot. We used to list the local in person business events. Now we list mostly virtual local events (focused on local organizations in these major cities). Looking for some feedback on some of the ways we are delivering the free and paid product we offer as well as suggestion about getting the word out about these sites. Full list of current cities at citybusinesscalendars.com
Thanks Michael
Hello Indie Hackers, I'm a senior dev and want to start a side business. I really appreciate to become a part of this community to connect, talk and get inspiration.
Hey everyone!
I am James Dobry, a software engineer from Chicago. I am a serial entrepreneur since the age of 14 and have done so many startup ideas it's hard to remember them all, haha.
For over the past year, I have focused my free time on my part-time startup, Just Pick Something. If Spotify's Discover Weekly playlist gave you tailored recommendations for places to go and activities to do, that would be us - Spotify, please don't steal my idea.
I have participated in the past in other communities like YCombinator's Startup School and Pioneer. I am hoping Indie Hackers will give me the boost and knowledge I need to push my part-time project into something that can support myself and open the doors to what is possible with my 5-year roadmap.
Hello, Ami here.

Hey everyone,
My name is Ansh, and I would love to interact with all of you, listen to your ideas, collaborate and more.
It is so interesting, I am a believer that change lies in accounting for our thoughts and realizing that few thoughts are communal and most are individualistic. We may live in a community and in all our life in that community our thoughts are individualistic. We have to realize this, and start thinking about being community and being communitarian, and where to be is in the sum of our thoughts. Rosie thank you for your communitarian thinking
