Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! 👋
This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.
Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!
For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. 👇
Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn in 2020.
Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!
We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.
@csallen also puts out podcast episodes if reading isn't your thing!
There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.
Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.
This is just the tip of the iceberg! If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post in the Meta group or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.
Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! 🤗
Hi, I'm Mario, just left my job.

Welcome Mario! That's inspirational!
Hey welcome! Never too young or old to start up a business!

Hi.

I want to become a professional because I was programming like an amateur.
Hi everyone,
I'm Adlan. I'm a software engineer from Singapore. I've been mulling about side projects for a few years now. I've had some false starts in the past - spending lots of time building a MVP, and then failing to get users. Or building landing pages and losing faith in the idea. I've decided that for 2020, I want to make a breakthrough. Less consuming, more producing. Fail fast, move fast. Focus more on putting myself and my product out there. That's why I joined IH.
I think Patrick McKenzie says it best: "I will say that producing beats consuming in business and that many people have a tendency to hoard great information about B2B SaaS businesses without talking to potential customers, selling SaaS, or coding SaaS, but that collecting guides/interviews/etc has built precisely zero SaaS companies and talking/selling/coding has created many."
My current project is Acroble: https://acroble.com/ - a B2B managed SaaS to automate the update and creation of PowerPoint slides across the enterprise. I'm seeking idea validation and landing page feedback.
Cheers!
Hi everyone,
My name is Peter. A friend and I have spent the last two years building a VPN that we wanted. We have invested both time and money and sacrificed for the project. We will be launching into open beta in one month and wanted some feedback on our website and information found on it.
Regards,
Peter @ Oeck.

Hi there!
I'm Alex, a software engineer based in the UK with a love of TypeScript, Johnny Cash, and burritos.
I've founded a few startups in the past, as well as freelancing, but nothing really stuck - I've been a big fan of IndieHackers for a while, and thought it'd be a great place to start thinking about my next idea 🎉
My goal: Build a startup that makes £1000 a month in revenue before the end of the year - here's to a better 2020!
Hi Alex, fellow UK TypeScripter here. Hope you're doing well in these uncertain times. What project are you currently working on?
Hi! I have been working on a project to optimize resumes for candidates to pass automated applicant tracking systems 🤖. Although I wasn't planning to launch in a few weeks, I've decided to launch the MVP now to see if it can help candidates optimize their resumes to get more interviews in these turbulent times.
If you are in the job market, take a look, hope it helps: https://tenxresume.com/
I want to build the rest in the coming weeks with the learnings I get from the feedbacks. 🙏Thank you all!
Great

Hi everyone!
I joined to learn from and interact with like-minded individuals. I am currently a freelancer, but my long-term goal is to found my own startup. I also see Indie Hackers as being a potential place to find co-founders on future products. Seeing others do the same is inspiring and learning from them is invaluable - I guess I am in the right place!
Hi, I'm marco and I've been to the last IH meetup in Toronto and loved it. I've developed playmeets.com, a sports pickup and tournament platform , last year but decided to step back because it was an idea super dependent on 25-30 venues in Toronto so having 1 no means having -4%-ish of the market in my area. Now I'm ready to start something from the scratch, i just don't know what yet. Looking forward to meet you all!
Hi, my name is Sam.

I am looking to improve my skills and reach a whole new level because I aim for big things, because why not? right. And I really enjoy helping others who are starting out in this field because I know that it is not so easy.
I'm happy to be here, I already like the vibe of indie hackers community so I would contribute as much as I can to help others and even learn from others around here.

I'm Martin, 27, programmer and working remotely on .NET developer tools as my day job.
Looking to launch a few prototypes this year of websites or apps. Have a couple of ideas, not sure any is actually good :D
Launching is not easy, but getting traction and users is really tough in my opinion, especially when making all the decisions/tasks yourself...
Glad to be part of this community, will definitely share and learn!

Hi,
My name is Bojan, I come from Serbia.
Working remotely for a UK company for 3 years now as a web dev.
Not too happy at the moment with the situation at the company (using outdated tech, no sight on keeping up to date with relevant industry standards).
So I think on creating a SaaS business, or something in that way where I could one day work for myself, rather than switch to a different company.
Excited to join the IH community
Hey guys,
I own a small marketing agency in Toronto, Canada.
I frequently find problems that need solving as a result of working with a lot of clients. I also believe there are a lot of apps out there that solve some amazing problems, but do halfassed job and still have a decent MAU. So often, I see how apps can have better versions with a focus on ease of use. Given the marketing experience with a decent technical knowledgebase, I have always found SaaS interesting and on the look out for more.
About 3 years ago, I sat with someone who exited his startup in the marketing space and we both decided to work on an app. By no means was it a new category. But it was an app with about 5-10 competitors where we could have done a better job of usability. And when it came to the department of usability, we had only 1 real competitor. Problem was (is), the lack of time to create something meaningful because of my day job. And also a little more complication to the product than normal. Anyway, we kind of "drifted apart" and it didn't take off.
So yeah. That's my story.
-Mark

Hi Rosie! My name is Ahmed and I'm from Mombasa, a coastal city in Kenya. I've always loved computers and tech. I'm currently work as an IT staff however my dream is to work for myself and maybe build a successful business one day. I've had great ideas but I haven't fully developed them. I once paid for a domain twice and didn't get the website online (I still have it somewhere in the Xampp folders). I've only been on this site for a few hours and it is really motivating. 2 things got my attention. 1) Start with the problem and not the solution. 2) Simplify to the smallest product you can deliver to the customer right now and grow from there. I guess I have always overlooked the simplification part and wanted to start with a "Wow" product from the get go.

I spent last 3 month doing application for image processing (jpeg artifacts removal / jpeg to dng converter) using neural networks and now I try to understand how to market and what to do next. Hi All.. Hope all well. Tough times.
I am Tania and I currently live in Dublin. A bit about me ..lived in 6, traveled to 35+ countries, experience in retail real-estate, brand strategy, startups & events.
Working on a business idea.. constantly fine tuning it. Not a tech person. So I constantly find myself pulling my hair to get my ideas to reality. Tried my hand at coding lessons (HTML, CSS). I love learning about tech to understand the process. Builds my empathy towards tech professionals I might work with. I don't think I want to be a coder. Would like to focus on my strengths - business planning, defining the problem, user research, design, brand strategy, pitch decks, project management, marketing and consumer behaviour. Looking to learn from and share with all of you. Would love to connect with tech people looking to work on fun projects so we can build something valuable together :)
Stay safe. Stay Home

Hi everyone,
Hello, I'm Kirubakumaresh. Software engineer/Data Scientist. I want to build a platform which will allow parents to get better insights about schools. Glad to be part of this amazing community.
Hi,
I'm Ayo.
I just built a pledge card generator(bot) to observe social distancing during this Covid-19 period. I'm due to begin a MSc program in Data Analytics in September this year. (I hope the world would be sane by then). I'm a fan of #NoCode. I found the first marijuana social network in Africa too, afrohigh.com.
I'm hoping to learn as much as I can in building products and growing them. I plan events in my spare time.
PS: You can check the pledge bot here https://re.tc/pledgebot

Hi, my name is Mark, I'm the founder of Giverrang, a new kind of discounts marketplace that employs a "hybrid" model of cash & points to buy products. Save cash, sell more!
I just launched my MVP https://giverrang.com, all done in no-code. Feedback always appreciated.
Looking forward to learning, growing, making new connections (hopefully finding co-founders) and contributing to others along the way.
I didn't want to bury the lead, but here's the addendum to my story:
I recently left a stable and well paying job at a nonprofit (well paying? I know right) in October to pursue my startup and bring great projects to this world.
However, to do that I couldn't completely unhook as it wouldn't be fair to put the financial burden on my wife. So I decided to use a skill I crafted over the past couple years and started a no-code web/app development and digital marketing studio called No Code Bros.
I've been able to build a small roster of domestic, and mostly international clients which has helped me make just enough to offset my expenses, and keep my hours low, so that I can try to hit the home run ball with the startup.
Loving everyone here with a similar mindset!
Hello Indie Hackers!

Hi, My name is Dubem Kizito Izuorah, from Nigeria.
I am a frontend developer working at a Fintech. I have been building software solutions for companies for a while now, but I found that it was easy coming up with tech ideas, but getting to execute them is rough. This 2020 I have decided to ship 3 of my own Saas solutions whether completed or not. I sole aim is to achieve financial freedom so I can fully express my creative freedom. I am here to learn from the successful founders and also to share what I know when I can.
I found this platform through a poadcast.

Thanks for letting me in this community!
I'm a techie and entrepreneur at a public library in the Washington DC-area. I am interested in starting one or more web service businesses. Looking to find people with complementary talents and diverse ways of thinking. I used to be a coder way back in 1990's -- ran my own small educational software company. Writing is one of my strong suits. I love open source anything.
Hey 👋, I'm Len. I've just launched my first side project - www.prenario.com
In my day job as an IP lawyer for the last 10 years, I've helped many clients who've found themselves confronted with seriously difficult and risky decisions.
I've never been satisfied with "gut instinct" approaches to decision making, so I started exploring the science behind decisions making. To my surprise, I found a rich history of learning and I ended up becoming fascinated with the topic. But equally surprising was the fact that so few people knew about the useful techniques of decision science!
Rather than die wondering, I decided to try my hand at building a tool (and learning to code at the same time) that anyone can use to access the power of decision science to help make difficult decisions.
And, so, here I am. Passionate, committed, and ready to see if I have what it takes to be an indie hacker! 🤗

I love learning new languages and making new friends, who have same ideals as me (same aged ppl would be a delightful experience)
Special thanks to Mr. Ali for recommending this community of ppl I share my ideals with.
Hope you are fine

Hey everyone!
My name is Eli and I've been working for about a year on an app that helps people with anxiety and depression release difficult emotions when they occur. I've been struggling with depression for most of my life myself and built this out of my own experience and my life coaching practice. Coronavirus increased the number of people suffering from anxiety and depression and also got me laid off from my job as a software developer so I can devote all of my time to this.
I'm happy to jump on a call with anyone who's struggling with mental health issues and a do a walkthrough of the app. It seems to be helpful in a wide range of circumstances and I'm happy and available to help.
Glad to be joining this vibrant community that I just accidentally stumbled upon.
Stay safe!
