Welcome to Indie Hackers! (Week of Jan 2nd)

Channing here from Indie Hackers. Welcome! 👋

Here's how to get the most out your time here.

Make the community a better place

Indie Hackers is for connecting with like-minded people who want to build profitable online businesses.

To get the most out of the community, try helping to make it a better place. You can do that by starting and participating in interesting discussions.

If you start by giving, the community is designed to reward you in return.

How to start discussions

Head over to the home page and click the "New Post" button.

If there's something on your mind that you think will get people talking, simply type it out. The shorter the better. It helps if you ask a clear question in the title, or if you express your opinion.

Alternatively, if you read something elsewhere on the internet, you can start a discussion around that, too. Try submitting it as a link post. Indie hackers love discovering interesting new articles.

Good luck!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you need help submitting your first link post or starting your first discussion, let me know in the comments below.

Otherwise, I'm excited to see you the forum! Feel free to introduce yourself to everyone below. 🤗

Hi all, I am very excited to join the Indie Hackers' community. Honestly, I came across the IH site very recently and I am totally hooked. I thought I was alone in this world :). No seriously, I've been exploring all the resources and discussions from this community and this is gold. About me... I am a full-stack dev with a current daytime job, but I've done a couple of side projects along the way. I currently have a profitable one, but still not enough to support a living. I do have to learn a lot from you guys and I hope that things I'll share can help you too. I have high expectations for 2022 and I wish all the best to your projects in this new year. Cheers!

Hello everyone, really happy to join Indie Hackers today! To introduce myself shortly: I'm Marie, working from the middle of France as a data manager. Formerly data scientist & CTO. I've always had small side projects but in 2021 they grew a bit bigger, so now my hope is that in 2022 I can start building something stable and recurring 🤞🏼 Let's see! Can't wait to meet some of you :-) Cheers

I learnt this community exist through PwnFuntion - YouTuber. As soon as I started exploring about IndieHackers, I see... ambiguity of their vision and sharing their life experiences, inspired and motivated me to be a part of this community.

          1. 2

I actually came from the same YouTuber! How awesome.

            1. 1

              Indeed, all the best.

Hey everyone, excited to connect with the community. I'm based in London and have been working in SaaS sales for the past 3 years for a publicly listed social listening company. I've learnt how to close large, complex seven figure solutions and have a passion for technology, so I'm looking to learn how to build my own SaaS company - would be great to learn from those of you who already have experience doing so!

Hi everyone, hope all of you had a great start in 2022

Hi, happy to join this community... I have experience with several ventures being the main tech guy - most failed miserably, and a few succeeded.
Recently, I have been working on a new project where I am challenging myself beyond the scope of the tech-realm. First time I am not only implementing but also building a business model, presenting and getting a lot of rejections. I am happy to discuss and learn from others.

Hello Everyone, finally I’m here, it’s been a while I’ve been trying to join the indie hackers community but no invite code. I’m here now and I’m excited. Looking forward to the awesomeness this forum brings 🤓

Greetings. After twelve years and a successful exit I’m pondering my next steps. I spent a long time totally focused on that company so right now I feel a bit like an unfrozen cavemen trying make sense of a strange new world.

I think I’ve been tainted by startup life and entrepreneurship has wheedled it’s way into my blood. Big company life is certainly not for me. B2B SaaS 4eva!

I stumbled across the indie hackers podcast and have been listening to it a lot while walking my dog. Pretty much every interview resonates with me, so I decided I just have to check this community out.

Looking forward to sharing the experience I learned growing my company and learning as much as possible from this great community.

    Hi All,
I was only a reader for the last two years but I decided that it’s time to create an account here. That’s why I’m happy and excited.
I’m a software engineer and I built few web apps in the past without any success.
All of them taught me that building without any community is super hard.
This time, I want to try building in public.
Hope, during this time, my product will be more fruitful and I will meet a lot of interesting people along this way :)
    All the best for you.

Hi Everyone, I'd just like to say that im very excited to be on here and I hope to gain a lot of knowledge from the group and maybe give a little as well. Thanks

Hi all! 👋 Very excited to have joined Indie Hackers today. I'm of the "lurker" personality type normally, but after reading some of the posts here that might change now (you're reading exhibit A). I'm a first time founder from Amsterdam building an analytics SaaS. Also, I love challenges! I've build and launched a product in 24 hours before, and planning to do another one soon! Oh, and always happy to help :) See you around!

Thanks for inviting me! I've got some exciting stuff in the pipeline that I'm looking forward to discussing, and many questions for the community. I know very little about the business end of things, so I really appreciate help from people with experience with that kind of stuff, and also discussing tech issues and sharing my experience on that front. I'll post more soon!

As someone who is new to communities I was searching the web for information on the subject. I was encouraged by some friends to look up Rosie. They said a great many good things about Rosie and her community development skills. When I saw Rosie tweet about this experiment I jumped at the chance to join. I already love the conversation as the members are truly skilled at their individual crafts and it is going to be awesome to see how this goes. Specifically because I was so put off by these large communities I joined before this. Thanks Rosie!!

    Thank you, Channing.

I'm Mighil, currently working on heyform.net with a small team. It's a drag and drop online form builder. The free tier doesn't restrict users on how many questions they can add and has no restrictions on how many responses they collect. We ship HeyForm with a built-in spam filter and ready-made form templates also.

Stoked to join the community and hear/read insights from makers, developers, designers, writers, and other cool folks in tech.

Wish you and the community a great year ahead.

nb: Mad props to @thefedoration for inviting me.

As a first time founder, I am super happy to join this community. Hoping to learn more for other founders

Hello! New year, new me as they say. And therefore, new Indie Hackers start! I've had an account for a long time but yep - got cold feet last time around. Anyways, a little about me: I was an early engineer at a YC security startup. I quit my job last year, and have been on a journey to do things that I care about for people I care about - and learn more about what those are! I'm currently working on something pretty far out of left field, but I'm making a fictional podcast that tells a story to explore Asian American generational division. I'd love to make something that makes even just a few people say, "I want to talk with my family."

It's so cool to see this active community, I've been building and rarely releasing. I love the idea of "Building In Public" and people's ideas to go for 12 projects in 12 months, yallah, let's gooooo!

  22. 1

Hello! 👋 I'm also looking forward getting into this community. I have known IH for some years (via 30x500.com) but now as my job/freelance project ended I thought this could become my primary "work community". Something I could relate to, contribute and discuss about things I'm into.

Now I'm taking 6mo off to focus full-time to my startup idea that I have worked on in a way or another a good 10 years 😬 . I have learned to code because of it, studied lifestyle business, startup things, content marketing etc. along the way. But never got far enough to gather an audience or anything... But now it's time to either get it off the ground (or shut it down and do something else 🙄)

Let the quest begin! Nice to have so many others starting this week in here too! 💪

Hey there 👋 I'm excited to have bumped into this community via the "How to brainstorm great business ideas" article. I'm currently an engineering manager at a pre-IPO company, but prior to that I launched and shutdown a small social media/commerce product with a small team. Looking forward to getting back into creating in 2022, hopefully armed with some more wisdom this time around! Happy New Year everyone!

Salut à tous ! Je me lance aujourd'hui sur cette nouvelle plateforme, je pense que je vais découvrir beaucoup pleins de nouveaux moyens de communiquer sur le réseau !
