What are you working on this month?

With every new month comes a new chance to talk about what you're working on and meet other founders.

Here's how you can join the discussion:

  • First, respond to someone else who's commented, just to say hello or leave them some feedback!
  • Next, leave your own comment describing what you're working on (or aspiring to work on), and your biggest goal for May.

That's it!

Excited to hear from everyone and see what you're working on!

I'm dropped my job (because COVID 19) and trying to complete some personal projects (https://simplecheatsheet.com - one of them). life is difficult :(

    1. 4

Really nice site. Cheat sheets are great. A couple of thoughts:

      1. A lot of people like to print cheat sheets and leave them on their desk. Make them printable and "brand" the page with your URL so they know where to find the next one.
      2. If you can't think of any way to make money from it at least think about starting a mailing list / newsletter. Having a group of people you can send an email can be really valuable when you launch the next thing.
      1. 1

Thank you for your suggestion, very useful for me. Next, I will make the cheat sheet printable, selling cheat sheet paper is great too :D

    2. 3

Cheat sheets are very important. Keep expanding, there are a lot of non-software domains too which need this.

      1. 1

Thank you @braidn. I will find out and update more.

Sorry to hear about your job!

Love the site! I used to use a cheatsheet for my desktop background of whatever new language/framework/tech I was using :)

I'll be sure to share this around!

      1. 2

Thank @geoffchan23. Your comment makes me an idea to create an app for desktop. Hope it useful with you, Give me comment on the product page if you have any problem :D

    11. 1

Oh nice, that Docker cheat sheet will come in useful. Have you considered putting together some courses?

      1. 1

No @DanHulton. I just share the cheat sheet. Sharing some courses is great idea. I will try :D

        Thank sir!

    Preparing Dorik for the launch.

We are also planning to add Custom CSS, Rich Text Editor, and some other features before the launch. :-)

    1. 3

Looks great, the website is very responsive and flows well! I signed up for early access!

      1. 2

        Thank you. 🙌

I will send you the early access details soon. :-)

    2. 2

Very good work - how have you been able to achieve the tech product from a no code dev perspective?

      1. 1

        Thanks for your comment.

We are building themes/templates from 2014. And we have previously used third party website builders with our templates to give the users option to customize. Most of the ideas and decisions came from there. :-)

    3. 2

Looks great, recently I started using WebFlow to build my company's website. how is Dorik comparing to them?

      1. 2

        Thanks for your comment, Jamal.

Our website builder is much easier to use than Webflow (According to our early users 😁).

We are trying to give the flexibility and power of webflow but in an easy to use way. :-)

    4. 2

Sounds great and the landing looks amazing!

    5. 1

@mizan great work. What tech stack are you using?

        Hey @Hvitis

We have subscription form on the homepage. Enter your email and click "Get Early Access". We will send you early access soon.

Templates are not available for download separately. You can export them from the website builder (On premium plan).

      1. 3

        Thanks for your comment.

There are many differences. But I'll just talk about the website builder here. We are different in our approach to the website building.

We are more focused on visual building. We tried to give all the basic CSS control on an easy to use interface. On Versoly, I found the customization is mostly (not all) limited to switching between pre-defined/bootstrap classes (Correct me if I'm wrong) or you have to write custom code. While on Dorik, Users can add custom borders, gradients, box-shadow, etc visually. Also, we have drag and drop feature on our builder. Our main goal is eliminating the need of writing the code as much as possible while keeping it simple and easy to use. If someone wants to add custom code we are adding the feature to add Custom CSS and HTML.

Our main focus will be on our pre-designed templates and blocks. Templates are the reason we started building this website builder. And we already have 10 pre-designed templates and 120+ section blocks (More than Versoly). And we are just in private beta.

If someone doesn't want to use pre-designed blocks, they can add their own column structure and add custom elements and design them as they want without using any of our pre-designed blocks.

One of our beta testers explained it better before requesting for early access. I'm gonna quote:

I am using either Versoly or Webflow and I am looking for a better option.
Versoly doesn't have the flexibility that I want and Webflow isn't intuitive enough. Maybe Dorik is the one that I've been looking for.

^ That's the goal. Powerful and flexible but easy to use website builder. :-)

        1. 1

Yeah I noticed a lot of builders give you full control in a bad way, and it allows customers to make terrible decisions. Most of our customers are backend developers or marketers not designers.

I don't want them using 50 shades of blue for CTA.

That is the big benefit of Versoly compared to other builders we allow them to get into the HTML code, they can also import code that has been tested 1000s of times from stackoverflow etc.

Having to learn a new tool is always annoying for me, a lot of marketers know enough HTML so it works out well.

We're always working on the builder and improving it, but customers don't really care that much and are asking for other features.

"Versoly doesn't have the flexibility that I want" we're by far the most flexible builder on the market.

If you're looking to replace Wordpress we're one of the only builders at the moment that can.

June will be a big month for Zero to Marketing.

I'm approaching 1k subscribers and I still have a lot of things to figure out. The first on my list is coming up with a sustainable way to monetize my work.

I love doing these case studies. they take a lot of time to write but I want to keep them free for everyone. Maybe I could setup a Patreon for those who find my work valuable. Or launch a Pro version of the newsletter with extra content. Or maybe create some courses. I should take some time to write a "How I'd grow Zero to Marketing" case study 😂

    1. 1

It's funny that you should say that, I asked you the other day how you decide which case studies to feature.
I'm sure people would pay for you to consult on how to grow their business.
You could then use them for other case studies "how we grew XY", by showing how your recommendations actually impacted business XY.
On another note, is 1K to start monetizing?
Harry took 1 year to reach 20K and it's still free

      1. 1

        Yeah I remember 🙂

That wouldn’t work because with only 4 case studies/month I’d have to charge a significant amount of money.

Harry decided to keep it free and monetize through sponsors. It’s a different type of newsletter with a different business model.

    2. 1

I'm one of your subscribers and didn't read any email, if I am honest. I just don't like these email courses. I minimize my time in the inbox as much as possible. So I go through my inbox and reach zero by deleting, replying and archiving. Your emails are all in a reading IMAP folder with some other courses and I wonder if they ever will be read. What if I read and then a new email comes in. It's super distracting. I think I don't want to read in my email client. And this is the same problem with pretty much any email based course. It never worked for me. It clashes with my email habits.

Do you plan to put this content on a website so I could pick and read in focus?

      1. 1

Every 3 months I clean my list and delete all subscribers who never opened at least one email. So if you are still interested in receiving them open at least one every now and then 🙂

I’m still undecided about publishing them on the web. Someone told me that I should create a paywalled website with all the case studies and make it part of a premium monthly membership (that would also include extra content).

Hey there! These are all good suggestions.

I’m already talking with my subscribers. When someone writes me, I answer them and also try to bring up this topic. I’m also considering sending an email to my list about the future of ZTM to hear their thoughts.

I also briefly spoke on Twitter with Dru and I’m watching closely his progresses. He is doing a great job 🙂

Preparing Abyssale for our "official" launch.

    • New website
    • PH launch
    • New blog
    • Platform updates

A lot of work for the upcoming weeks...

    1. 2

      Awesome man all the best

    2. 1

Great landing page! I love the look & feel.

      1. 1

Thank you! We are launching our new website in a few days from now :) Will make a post on IH breaking down our process.

I'm currently working on a No-code project on Notion: Virtual Mojito - curated directory of 70+ tools for virtual events, webinars, mentorships, social gatherings, and Hackathons.

I’ve been collecting video conferencing tools and verticalized options since the beginning of the pandemic. You’re going to see 3 things immediately: 🔍 Searchable list of tools, 📆 Virtual event calendar, ⚡ Bi-weekly newsletter

    Excited to hear your feedback!

    1. 1

      Awesome !!looking forward to it!

  6. 3

I've been working on https://minimaps.io so I'm going to get it ready to launch on PH this week!

    1. 1

This looks pretty cool. I've been looking for an easy to use road map tool. I signed up to try it out.

    2. 1

I saw this over on the Bubble forum. Very simple, sleek, and easy to understand. Let me know when you launch so I can go give it an upvote!

    3. 1

Looks nice. I signed up to give it a try. How can I try the voting / requesting? No easy way to give feedback from within the site. Ok so I can try it for your road map, but not for mine. It doesn't make sense to me that I can request features for in progress. I would collect them in a community backlog or the general backlog. It's not clear how to close the expanded state. A no login roadmap for voting and requesting would be cool for low traffic and starting sites.

    4. 1

I've been looking for something like this!

  7. 3

Working on pwainside.com, directory for PWA apps

    1. 1

      Nice concept!
You could add a section on describing features usually present in PWAs to help explain what a PWA is

      1. 1

Thanks for the suggestion.. makes sense..

  8. 3

    Hey!
Just opened for beta registrations yesterday! Been working on https://www.MyDaily.email
It's a service inspired by Google calendar's 5am daily agenda email, but it lets you build your own emails, and fetches content from varied sources.

    1. 1

      Nice domain name 🙂

    1. 1

What XaaS are you going for? I love the Trends he talks about.

    2. 1

Nice Yoofi. What will the service be?

  10. 2

tractific.com- First automated data analytics platform on the planet :) Preparing it for the beta version. You can be a beta tester too!!

    1. 2

Very interesting product! Can I ask what database are you using on the backend? How much traffic can you handle per site?

      1. 1

We use mongo, for the time being, to optimize queries and documents to the fullest. We can handle as much traffic as a medium-sized (like 150.000 daily pageviews) saas can get. Though we will definitely move on to aws once we get the first few paying customers.

        1. 1

AWS can get expensive quickly, check out our database-as-a-service here: www.hyprcubd.com. I can give you a demo - [email protected].

One of our features on the roadmap is to run container functions (such as your AI modules) right next to the data to drastically reduce latency from processing data.

  11. 2

Aiming to launch an alpha version of https://bookcamp.app to a handful of potential power users.

I also hope to double the number of early access requests.

    1. 1

Woww looks really good product, I just subscribe. Website looks awesome. Good luck with your project!

  12. 2

Currently waiting for my Instagram Analytics platoform to be approved by Facebook (https://heartanalytics.io/). I've had to jump through a lot of hoops so far so I hope I'm getting close!

My side (side side) project whilst I'm waiting is to develop my first Shopify App. I'm creating an app that will offer customers a discount when they share products on social media. If anyone here runs a shpoify store I'd love to get in touch :)

Also my other side (side side side) project is https://socialmediajobsnow.com/. I've automated the curation of social media jobs in the UK and set up a twitter account to tweet them out automatically. Once I've got a few jobs on there I'm going to work on growing subscribers to the mailing list, I'm kind of thinking having more people on that list will be the attractive thing to companies who want to advertise. Also going to put a bit of work into SEO.

    1. 2

I find the text on heartanalytics a bit hard to read, not enough contrast between the background and the font.

      1. 1

Fair point, I'll update that. Thanks!

    2. 2

Your Instagram Analytics looks pretty neat. I'm curious what database did you go with on your backend?

      1. 2

        Thanks! It uses MySQL 😀

  13. 2

I'm working for a mentoring platform called APY: https://getapy.com/home
There are business mentors for any type of industry. If you are an expert in any field, you can join for free and charge what you want to help people online :)

    1. 2

Nice work! I actually tried building such a product a few years ago, but could never get it off the ground. In particular, I could never figure out how to get experts into the marketplace. I'm curious how you solved that.

Also, personally, I'm more interested in finding experts in very niche businesses. I can use my personal network to arrange an intro to accountants, marketers, salespeople, etc. But I would not be able to find someone who knows a lot about say construction permitting (a real example of a subject area I tried to investigate for potential business opportunities).

    2. 1

I like the charge what you want part, it makes it accessible for anyone. Nocode mentor does something similar for the no-code space.
Don't you think going too broad will make it hard for you to market it?

    3. 1

Wow, I really liked this idea...

Do you plan to add cross selling or some partnership program where other sites/startups may resell mentor/consulting services from your marketplace?

    4. 1

really cool idea! Almost like a marketplace for mentorship?

  14. 2

I'm currently coding https://airvoute.com to let makers and freelancers create a secure vault of instructions for a relative in case something happens to them.

    1. 2

Subscribed. The idea looks awesome, really

  15. 2

My main project is http://kogram.io/ and I have another community site I'm working on the side https://indiestack.org/

I love working on my projects!

    1. 2

Hey @yaroslawbagriy, kogram looks interesting and the website looks great!

      1. 1

@vsuresh5 thank you! Please sign up for early access to support the project :) We're working on getting it out as soon as possible!

    2. 2

Yaroslaw, I looked at kogram -- nice idea. I think the mission statement -- Newsletter publishing done right -- needs to be the very first thing people see.

      Other than that, good work!

      1. 1

Thank you @Joe118 for the feedback! Is "Become an independent publisher" not a hook enough? My main targets are independent publishers who have a paid newsletter.

    3. 2

Nice project @yaroslawbagriy! I'm pretty good with one of the founders of https://www.getrevue.co/. I know they've gone through some ups and downs, might be interesting to reach out and have a chat to learn from :)

      1. 1

@franklagendijk wow that would be amazing! I'll shoot you an email :)

    4. 2

      Your websites look nice! :)

  16. 2

    Hello Indie Hackers! 😃

June is a special month. After I spent 9 month (600+ hours) of building https://pingr.io I finally started looking for beta users & actively fixing bugs.

Even though this is quite a big challenge for me to make yet another uptime monitoring, and people say that there is no chance to get something out of this, I just cannot forget how much effort I put there.

So my aim for this month is to get first users, learn a lot of things in marketing, figure out some features which could differentiate me from others (any help is welcome!)

Always happy to test your app, especially when it comes to UI/UX, since I'm kind of UI nerd which feels when it should be 6px margin instead of 8px 😅

    1. 2

Your attention to UI/UX really comes across in your landing page! I'm the exact same way! (I always feel bad when I give that sort of feedback to other devs because I feel like I'm nitpicking at the most trivial thing).

Love the product! Gave you a follow :) looking forward to see your progress!

    2. 2

Site looks good. Good luck on getting your product out there.

    3. 2

Hi Victor! Your entire marketing site is gorgeous. It's clear that you invested a lot in the front-end - it definitely paid off.

Did you build the site manually, or did you use a tool?

Hope the validation process goes well for you. Best of luck!

      1. 1

        thank you! :)

I did everything manually. Vuejs as frontend framework

        1. 1

          You're welcome. Nice work!

    4. 1

Wow! Great job on the landing page, looks amazing.

    5. 1

Nice work! Very well designed marketing page!

    6. 1

Great product! but I'm wondering about 9 months for a product. Are you working solo?

      1. 1

Yes, frontend + backend + landing (except the landing was made by designer, I've only coded it)

    7. 1

Cool product (might use it) and awesome website. About pricing: I'm wondering if the pricing for 30 websites couldn't be more expensive given the pricing for 2 or 10?

      1. 2

I'm still not 100% sure about pricing, but this is my logic:

        1. basic - 1 site costs $5 (2 sites = $10)
        2. standard - 1 site costs $2 (10 sites = $20)
        3. pro - 1 site costs 1$ (30 sites = 30$)

kind of the more you buy the cheaper it is. but I'm still researching what the best price would be. Some alternatives asks a lot, some way too cheaper. I'm trying to get something in the middle

        1. 2

Makes sense! Maybe a flat price per website instead of bundles? Just throwing the idea out there :)

Hello, I can't get you a full feedback because I didn't try your software with a video, I wish import from an URL haha. so far the landing looks so cool. The software I didn't like the UI , the new project button looks ugly for me. Anyway I will try it later and I will do a better feedback. Good Luck!

Oh the button is transparent, and you have a picture of background, It is so hard to see this button at first, and I got confused wit another orange icons. I would suggest to have a UI with a great contrast. For example very similar to your web page, a white background and an orange button.

I don't have windows =\ But I'm glad to give some comments about landing 😈

        1. When I opened the site it looked like the video is disabled or somehow highlighted, like imagine you select the whole site with mouse and all elements get highlighted. Not sure if it's me, but I'd remove gray overlay from video. Same for other videos.

        Btw great videos!

        I would change this https://prnt.sc/srtshy
        To this https://prnt.sc/srts4t

You got many space. Your text is a bit condensed and there is no desire to read it. Also since it's free in beta I'd highlight it.

And the images are a bit blurry. So I'd definitely remove https://prnt.sc/srttmk this

        1. https://prnt.sc/srtu2x these arrows confused me a bit, since the one on the left looked like a background abstract figure for me, like you know, https://prnt.sc/srtul3 these objects looked similar. But maybe it's just me

        2. https://prnt.sc/srtv1i More padding near + signs: https://prnt.sc/srtvic

        3. https://prnt.sc/srtvpo 😈

This month I want to test how it goes with selling digital goods on gumroad. I wanted to start small so I get the general impression.

Yesterday I've launched a self-teaching course for docker. Prepared a decent PDF version and put a price tag on it. I wanted to go through the whole flow. From uploading that file till someone buys it. And guess what, first payment was already there.

But, it's not about making money as it is about generating some nice feelings. And also setting up playgrounds such as Twitter ads, Reddit ads, etc. I need something small to play with. Something to experiment.

So, if you're into learning docker or you want to support it, just reply, I still have those discounts codes for fellow IH.

Won't put a link so it doesn't look like shameless plug 😅

    1. 2

Same with me actually, I created some free courses for marketers and a paid copywriting course that I'm collecting feedback on from students. Integrating suggestions, adding more resources, etc.

Since the beta launch of Dytto 4 weeks ago, we have been talking with people, both potential customers and other makers. Well, mostly @aktasoguzhan did the talking cause he's a natural and I like typing on a keyboard 😄

With the addition of very extensive researches, we have come to the conclusion that designing the app for and marketing to freelancers don't make a whole lot of sense for us.

The first reason is freelancers usually don't earn a lot, and the second is they don't send much offers/quotes to begin with. Both being compared to some other businesses, of course. We are thinking about pivoting our target customer base to SMEs like architectural agencies, engineering offices and other service providing businesses.

So June will be the month to talk to a lot of architects, engineers, designers, agency owners etc. Let's see what we will learn!

I love doing these case studies. They take a lot of time to jot down but I want to hold them unfastened for anyone. Maybe I should setup a Patreon for folks that locate my paintings treasured. Or launch a Pro version of the e-newsletter with greater content here https://grillsnsmokers.com/.

Love doing these case research. They take a whole lot of time to jot down but I want to maintain them free for all people. Maybe I could setup it https://playwheresult.com/ for folks who discover my paintings treasured. Or release a Pro model of the publication with more content material.

I'm working on developing a twitter bot, this is my first time working on one but i hope the youtube tutorials and stack overflow will help me out😂

Moving all my sketched out designs into Figma with a designer I hired for a new stealth project!

I hadn't heard of Figma before (Was using Invision) but the process has been incredible. Excited to show you guys the designs once they're ready!

Preparing my site https://qurated.io for its official release on PH.
Qurated is a platform where you can discover curated lists of content feeds from popular sources like Instagram, Reddit, YouTube, Twitter or even an RSS feed.
The main reason I built this is to make it easier to discover theme specific content feeds

I'm working on a plugin for JetBrains IDEs that lets you access your Evernote account from within the IDE. Since I use Evernote as basically a knowledge repo, I thought it'd be cool if I could get at that information without having to leave my IDE and break focus while I'm working. I actually didn't realize how much I needed this until I started working with an early alpha version of the plugin a few months ago. My productivity has most certainly jumped since I started using it, as I'm spending less time in the browser searching for notes and what not.

I just recently completed work on the v1 build and I'm currently working with the JetBrains staff to release the plugin in the new JetBrains Plugin Marketplace. So if you use any JetBrains IDE products and you're looking for a useful notes plugin check it out - https://www.getspellbook.dev

Hoping to release in the next week or so...

I'm doing a "Live Class Sprint" for the month. I taught one live class in May as an experiment. I went from idea to profit in 11 days (https://getitbuilt.substack.com/p/from-idea-to-dollars-in-11-days), so I'm iterating on what I learned and trying to scale out.

I have 12 live classes scheduled on 6 different topics that founders, indie hackers, and no-coders would be interested in. Since I'm still in experimentation mode, I'm providing a 50% off coupon to all Indie Hackers for any of the classes, or all of them, you might want to take. You can see the class list here, coupon already applied: andrewgassen.io/live?coupon=INDIEHACKER

I'm working on a personal finance app and this week I finally got my domain sorted out and somewhere to put the blog https://www.looponce.com

Still a fair bit to do before launch but it's exciting to see some interest in it already. I've been chatting with a couple of people on twitter and email and the feedback is really helping to focus the direction of the app.

Hey! I'm working on amicu.app - Reminders to keep in touch

    • More statistics
    • Pricing change

June is my birthday month and I'm pumped :)

I'm working on Vidfilio, it's a live call affiliate marketing platform; think video call product placement.
We help content creators monetize their video calls by leveraging AI to embed a CTA in the video.
Still debating on the name though vidfilio or vidboosters?

    Side project 1: "Money I won't Miss"
    It's a poor man's (woman) Dragons' Den/Shark Tank
I'd like to help out people who have great ideas but need a nudge to either start or grow their business.
The idea would be to have a panel of 4-5 seasoned entrepreneurs jump on a call with you, hear your idea and if they like it they'll invest in it 5-100$ : Money I won't Miss
The kind of money you'd pay for a cup of coffee or a pair of sneakers.
A tiny investment with a huge impact on someone's life or business.

The IH community has been amazing in more ways than one, the advice and support is truly unbelievable <3

    1. 1

June is my birthday month too! :)

Love the sound of the "money I won't miss" idea. It could be tricky getting it to work but I think it has potential.

Currently working on a side-project, a simple web scraping API: ScrapingMonkey!
Get elements by id, class, tag, cssSelector, submit forms and much more.. just with a POST call.
Already had my first subs some days ago and it was amazing!
    https://onipot.altervista.org/wp-content/sm

Launching BETA of ScrapingProject API. Scrape any website without worrying about Proxy rotation, CAPTCHAs, and Headless Browser with just a simple API call.
    https://www.scrapingproject.com/?ref=IH
GIve it a try and please give your feedback. Happy Scraping :)

    1. 1

Just because I've tried a ton of scraping tools and never know what I'm doing, can you explain how this is different? Is it like point and scrape?
I wish something like that was possible :)

      1. 1

ScrapingProject API help in scraping any webpage with just an API. You can provide any web URL and the API will return you with RAW HTML data.

    Hello everyone!

Thank you Rosie for starting this every month. I am working on a business challenge that a lot of post-MVP stage companies face and would love to hear everyone's thoughts.

Businesses constantly invest in building internal tools to manage their data - Customers, Payments, Shipments, Registrations (multi step onboarding), Verification, Moderation, Content management, etc. These tools are need by literally every software/data driven business, particularly B2B.

I am working on dwata to solve these issues. I have vast experience in building internal tools (or admins) for many startups over 14 years.

    • dwata works with any relational DB (MongoDB coming soon)
    • gives you CRUD (Create/Read/Update/Delete)
    • custom actions (Mark user as Seller for example)
    • plugs into existing backend with APIs
    • has built in notes/documentation
    • advanced visual queries (no SQL knowledge), etc.

If you are planning to build admin on Django/Rails/Laravel/Express/etc. I would love to talk and see if dwata can manage these without you writing code. I am happy to provide attention to things that block your business.

    Thanks a lot, Sumit

Great topic @rosiesherry. I wanted to steal the start and begin researching June's project. Here's my project: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/call-for-proposals-would-you-pay-for-this-023766ebbe

Would you pay for this? will aggregate project/start-up ideas and compile them in a way that will make providing feedback about the pricing structure very easy. Stay tuned for more updates :)

Working on a stock trading journal and insights app called Sluicebox. Trading stocks is a hobby I enjoy, but I'm a developer by trade, so it scratches several of my own "itches" at once.

My goal for June :) is to gauge interest, hone in on where my target market hangs out, and get some email signups! Would an app like that be something you would use?

  34. 1

I'm working on a web application "Digital Business Card" called Card360 🗂️ https://card.forbiz360.com/

Here you can create a digital business card for your business, share with others using a unique shareable link, or using a QR Code.

I was about to try it and it asked me to login using facebook, shouldn't it be Linkedin?
I think it would make more sense for your target audience.

      1. 1

Yes, that is a good suggestion, we'll be adding some more social media including LinkedIn as stated by you.

For now, give it a try using Facebook and share your feedback & suggestions.

        Thank you in advance :)

    This month, I'm focused on

    • Improving the marketing strategy for my eBook, Mobile App Mastery

    • Growing my Twitter following! If you're on Twitter, I'd love to connect

    • Trying to cross 100 sales of the eBook, so lots of work to be done. Focused, and ready to get it 💪🏾

I'm working on CRUU, a React development tool.

Imagine if you could design your UI in a Figma-like design app and have this design automatically and magically show up in your React folder. Well, that's what CRUU does! Try it today!

My goal is to get 10 beta users. How we will do that? I'm not exactly sure yet lol.

    :)

Hello, I am working on MVP Maker(https://mvpmaker.co) . I am working in this since Februrary, but now I just re launch with a different approach . I am so excite about this . I am looking for learn about my customers. I am focusing in non-technical entrepreneurs looking for an IT team.

  41. 1

Getting the beta of Tractific up and running. Hopefully will be able to offer it free to a few IHers by the end of June :)

  42. 1

More integrations for StaticForms. Close is next.

Also, I'm hoping to get an MVP of custom auto-responder email formatting out.

  43. 1

Still planning out the big initiatives for June for Reflect (https://reflect.run), but over the next week we're planning on closing out the remaining items we intended to do in May:

    • Add Lifecycle Emails: We've done a number of things in May to improve the onboarding experience for free-tier users. With lifecycle emails we're hoping to educate new users who may not have fully grokked the tool in their first session, and also hopefully give them more reasons to come back into Reflect and create more tests.

    • Targeted outreach: We've identified a few new niches that we want to try and target. We're planning on automating some of this outreach for the first time, so should be interesting to see if the wider reach increases the number of demos we normally book.

  44. 1

This month is all about continuing to deliver great content with FlowCraft. We have grown from 1 to 50+ subs in 2 months which is amazing.

In terms of content, Twitter threads, Insta posts and delivering value in the platform has contributed to this.

I look to connect with more of the Music Marketers that I am serving too

    Browse AI Logo
I'm launching Browse AI this month. My primary goal is to get as much user feedback as possible to be able to plan for the upcoming months with more confidence.
If you think you can benefit from:

    • Aggregating/Scraping data from the web
    • Automating workflows on the web. Especially on sites that don't have an API.
    • Monitoring sites for changes (any site. could be your competitor's site or any e-commerce site, for example)
    • Setting up automated end-to-end tests for your web apps in a minute

Then Browse AI could be a life-changer for you. Give it a shot!
We'll be giving out free credit to anybody who signs up before we launch.

    1. 1

I love all things AI, was browse dot ai taken? I think it's better than the dot com.
Do you plan on monitoring anything else and not just websites?

      1. 1

re. the domain: I agree! I contacted the owner of that domain. They had a 5-figure price point in mind which was way above what we were expecting.

Monitoring is the simplest use case we're making available in the beginning. More complex use cases include automating tasks just like how a human does them on the web.

        1. 1

I'm not sure what you mean by monitoring "not just websites"? do you mean monitoring mobile apps, for example?

Working on our time series database product Hyprcubd (www.hyprcubd.com). Updating the site in preparation for our lead funnel. Trying to find the best avenue for marketing on a tight budget. Anyone with advice on marketing would be very much appreciated!

Our product solves scaling troubles for traditional sql databases however we have to be known to our ideal customers before they build their product. Switching costs are a concern for prospects. Any advice here is welcome.

We launched 3 big things last month!

    1. New features for https://viyo.io (two-way audio, big security update, promo codes)
    2. Started a Facebook group for WFH parents! (https://www.facebook.com/groups/wfhparenting/)
    3. Started a newsletter for WFH parents! (https://mailchi.mp/c2de5bcb867c/sign-up-page)

We hit a big milestone in May too. We broke 500+ users and got 2 paid subscriptions!

    This month we want to:

    1. Launch 2 new subscription options (yearly and lifetime)
    2. Start blogging! And write at least 1 blog per week.
    3. Implement more new features like multifactor auth, better UX, and user feedback collection

Our goal is lofty, but I'd love to reach the 1000 user mark by the end of June!

    ❤️ Hey fellow Indie Hackers!

My team and I have been working hard on a boring product in a market with a lot of existing players: 🔥 Help Desk software.

I know, I know. There are already a lot of options out there, so why are we (foolishly) heading into this same area?

The simple answer is that it's a market all the founders understand (we all do customer support and the market is mature), and it's one where we get to dog-food our own software.

🤔 So what are we adding to the mix given all the competition out there?

We're looking to provide a really well functioning product at a great price. Yes, we are (initially) competing on price. Think Backblaze model of pricing, but for help desk software.

There's a lot of infrastructure we've been building in order to support all of this (just like Backblaze did with their storage pods), and I hope we'll be able to write a few blog posts to share with other indie coders out there on how we optimized our infrastructure design for a fully bootstrapped business.

Give me a shout in a sub comment if you want to find out more about our soon-to-be-beta-release and want to give it a whirl👇...

    1. 1

Help desks can be interesting. The return on being able to offer above-and-beyond incredible customer support can be magical. I was working on a specialized help desk (related more to phone support) for a while, but I've since decided to move on.

Will your product include any new or slightly better functioning features than other help desks?

    2. 1

Sounds interesting! I've used FreshDesk in my last job - I'm happy to talk about my experience with that if it's helpful.

I have been working on the engineering collective (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRuFWMELfH4&t). The goal is to provide students with the tools they need to do their STEM related homework virtually. The goal is to build a community around the virtual work environment.

This month I am on a quest for user feedback before I resume building. I am a bit conflicted, on one hand I want to release the functionality but this would require alot more work on the platform. On the other hand I want to get feedback from users and slowly incorporate it to make the platform great. As an engineer I really want to pursue option 1 but I've been down this path before and I know I should be talking to users.

    For those interested:

I'm migrating Product Disrupt Blog from Medium to WordPress and customizing one of Pixelgrade's themes to fit my requirements.

I also started writing an ebook to help fellow designers crack their product design interview. I Will set up a pre-sales page for this in the coming week.

  55. 1

My biggest goal for JUNE (I guess it was the same as May) is to get the MRR up. Compared to April, the MRR actually went down - which was to be expected due to a shift in revenue model.

I want to create additional value to Yomi.ai by launching a new feature this week. With the added value, the goal is to get more trial users who convert to paid customers. I have been talking more to people over the last week in particular than coding. I need to write more code to accomplish the business goals.

Upgrading to a paid account with Revue so I can truly move my newsletter to my domain (It’s just a redirect right now). I’m also looking at integrating with Wordpress to add some more traditional blog type content as well.

    1. 1

Have you considered other newsletter providers? I find Revue's pricing a bit too steep.

      1. 1

Looked into a couple briefly (Substack, ConvertKit, etc) but really like Revues focus on curation (which is my model) so that seemed to work best for me. May revaluation down the line, but with a starting point of $5/month I’m ok for now.

        1. 2

It's great to get started but doesn't scale well. I've been running a curated newsletter for over 3 years now. I used Mailchimp before but moved to Mailblast some time ago. It's dead cheap and offers enough features to run a newsletter.

          1. 1

Thanks for the recommendation, looks like a great alternative that I'll check out.

  58. 1

I have completed my first MVP and am trying to collect feedback for melbado this month.

Same thing I have been working on the past few months, Build A SaaS App in Ruby on Rails 6

This month, I hope to have all the editing and proofreading done...and possibly make a few changes to better space out the learning. Otherwise, it's blog posts and other forms of reaching out to the tech/programming/Ruby community to help out.

  62. 1

This is the month I add Stripe integration into Nodewood. First, the ability to actually buy a license, then I can use that knowledge to build the subscriptions feature. Then I'll have an MVP with the feature set that people seemed most-interested in when trying to build a SaaS faster.

  63. 1

    Two things:

    1. release at least one new blog post to my new blog at https://johnny.am
    2. release an MVP of a new dev-focused product to track new releases/versions of libraries, frameworks etc... so that you get notified once per week about the new releases, instead of having to track the individually. I.e. this week, Next.js 9.4, Apollo-Graphql were released, and here are the highlights of those releases.
  64. 1

Mostly I've been working Konvo to grow its subscriber base as get a beta version ready. Progress has been good and early, early beta invites should start going out this week.

I've also been working on Jott. It's already in closed beta.

Both of these projects have been a massive learning experience, and a lot of fun to work on. It's also been great to see the exciting projects & problems this community has been working on. Let's keep it up!

  65. 1

Getting our landing page for the Nest live! And we're going to start working on some early marketing. Our product is for early stage and aspiring entrepreneurs, please reach out if you'd like to see what we have in store!

  66. 1

Setting up AWS Amplify for a new project: KnoBot.io - Empower your engineering teams with a powerful knowledge base platform, available right on Slack.

I am going to write a book this month!

It's going to be about 25,000 words, which means I should be doing 1,000 words per day.

It's about triumphing over ADHD for professionals. Here it is: https://adhdpro.xyz/

(I've received some AMAZING feedback so far from the first few chapters, so I am certain I have found product market fit AND maker market fit!)

  69. 1
    1. Buy 1 pro membership get 1 free pro membership for a friend
    2. A Web version of Mindful Suite
    3. Communities
    4. Public profile
    5. Shareable goals
    6. Many other small improvements
  70. 1

After many months of struggling to gain traction, I've decided to pivot SpireUI, so now I'm back to talking to potential customers and doing product development.

I fell for the classic "solution looking for a problem" trope even though I was aware of it. If you think you are in a similar situation, I highly recommend reading "The Mom Test". My mistakes became much clearer after reading that book. Anyway, lesson learned - I will not build without understanding the problem I'm solving again!

To that end, if anyone here is building/running an API and struggling with customer support, I'd love to grab a virtual coffee with you!

Trying to get indiebookish.com off the ground.

Initially started off as a small project but after engaging people, the opportunity seems much bigger to take on Blinkist with a differentiated model.

Any thoughts as to how I could take on Blinkist from a differentiated product and business model perspective?

    Thanks All!

Its the FEEDBACK month for me

    • Working on growing and testing my newsletter for Kaukab (71 subs atm) and I want to hit at least 200. I should send my first email this week and my main goal is to collect feedback.

    • Grow my first Shopify app CVW and get more feedback and start building my second app

    • I'm also reaching out to people about Moufette to get feedback as well

  74. 1

Building and launching my first side project https://deckz.club . This wasn't easy, I had a long battle with procrastination, delayed it for years.

Deckz.club has all my premium presentation templates available free of cost. I have added hundreds of other premiums slides free for download. Bookmark this page, I will hopefully make it live next week.

  75. 1

This month I'm working in 2 products:

mileo.io : Just improving our freemium system and also performing some marketing (I am a developer and this part is really hard for me, so I decided to spend some time on it)... mileo.io is a Business Model Canvas tool, very complete to share with your team, where you can set the project timeline and create variants of your Business Model.

Cemetery Escape: This is a free Android game (my first in fact) I'm using to test some concepts and leard about the mobile game market. The link for it is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.DefaultCompany.CemeteryEscape

    1. 1

Looking good! It might be a good idea to offer the demo up front, without any friction (sign up) and close people who engage with the demo. What are you doing in terms of marketing? What can we do to help?

  76. 1

I started working on FriendlyCaptcha, a more user-friendly/less evil alternative to ReCAPTCHA :). It's still in very early days, there is a webpage explaining how it works, but the actual implementation is a work in progress.

I submitted this to the Mozilla Builders MVP Lab, I think it fits the theme of making the internet a better place, let's see what they think!

The goal for the end of this month is to have the first version all fleshed out and have a few users try integrating it on their website.

    1. 1

Did you consider open-sourcing it and have COSS modal?

      1. 1

Yes! I think an open source model makes a lot of sense for a product like this. At the very least I want to make the challenge generation, runtime and verification open source so that one can self-host that easily on their own webserver if they wish.

The only parts that would not be open source then are things like user signup to the service, billing, and the infrastructure around the hosted solution (which I want to offer for free for small users).

        1. 1

Yes I'm trying to implement a similar modal with my project
          https://github.com/moufette-tools/moufette/

  77. 1

Goal: close a sale with my first enterprise client for timestamps.fm. Can anyone advise me on how to prepare for my first enterprise contract negotiation? (I'm assuming there will be a contract involved?)

They've verbally expressed interest and are currently on a free trial, and I've promptly addressed every feature request that came up, so I have confidence they will want to buy when the trial ends. My biggest challenge is how much to charge.

  78. 1

I rebuilt and rebranded my project last week. I am working to continue growing www.startupsanctuary.com and producing more course material to help creators and entrepreneurs get started with their online busienss!

site looks awesome! rebranding can be such a pain, what was the hardest part for you?

      1. 1

Thanks very much @offlinemark. So what I did was rebuilt the website and rebranded the name. The biggest hassle was getting all of the references off of the website in the database and then changing any other references manually.

I also had to go through the process of changing the details on all the tools I used before like Hubspot, Calendly, Zoom and a whole host more. Again, this was more tedious than anything.

The re-build piece was not too hard per se.

        1. 2

Yeah, sounds tedious. I've considered using an internal "codename" for all non customer-facing reference to the product (e.g. in code variables, hubspot, etc) to avoid this work if I do rebrand, but it feels a bit weird.

          1. 1

Haha ye it's one of those things that is just hard to avoid. I did make a list of everything I had to change in order though, so at least that will make it a speedier process if I have to do it again!

I am looking to finally set to release the first beta of Tinydojo this week. Expecting to follow it up with weekly releases for next 3-4 weeks.

Also going to spend a good amount of time talking to the first few beta users, and hope that will be able to add few more users in next few weeks. 😃

    1. 1

The website linked in the twitter doesn't work (Server Not Found), I like the idea though! I think this makes a lot of sense in a COVID and post-COVID world.

      1. 1

Thanks @Guido. Yes, tinydojo.com is not up at this moment. Recently have take down the coming soon page, currently working on the devops part. You can check it after couple of days.

Heavy development work with marketing posts scheduled in between!

My biggest goal for this month is putting myself out there and having a consistent schedule when it comes to marketing for my saas (profitkit.io). Hoping to do so through IH, Reddit, Twitter (though I’ve been neglecting Twitter for a while out of fear of being too self-promotional 🙈), and blog posts on my associate blog site!

    1. 2

Good luck with marketing. As a tech guy who's trying marketing I could say that this is more complicated than coding :D

      P.S. awesome landing page!

      1. 1

Haha right?! I feel the same exact way 😆 I think the key with marketing is just making it a more consistent task that we prioritize. I have to remind myself that we became better developers by coding every day, so we need to do the same with marketing.

And thanks so much for the kind words -- just touched up the landing page a bit last week!

        1. 1

Yeah, also I want to say that in coding I just have a to-do list and I just build features. While in marketing it's like "weeeell... I need... to post... somewhere... I guess 😅 okayy... any guides, docs, tests? uh oh"

          1. 2

So true — I feel like marketing is like taking a leap of faith sometimes! You put yourself out there, engage with the community, and hope you have a good response.

Not sure if you’ve checked out these marketing resources, but I can’t recommend them enough:

            https://www.forgetthefunnel.com/
Forget the Funnel is great for learning about marketing in-depth. It covers topics like thinking about how to collect customer feedback, understanding the stages of your customer onboarding (and where your customers drop off), and learning how to set up long-running marketing campaigns.

            https://marketingexamples.com/
You might have seen this resource around before because it’s made by fellow Indie Hacker @harrydry. It has jam-packed tips on content like how to write engaging Twitter posts, how to write copy that hits your target audience, what’s worked for companies of various sizes, etc.

            1. 2

Thank you so much, very useful response! Upvote :)

Glad I could help, and best of luck! 😀

        Hey Jas, thanks so much!

I’m the same way about social media — I end up going on Twitter to draft a post and then get so distracted and overwhelmed by my feed. Am learning to timebox my social media tasks so this doesn’t happen as much.

Very cool, will definitely check out Buffer — appreciate the help! :)

Do you mean goals for June? :)
I'm still building statdesk. My goals are:

    • Finish talking with people in my audience.
    • Start building at some point.
    • Start delivering some value.
    1. 1

Saw your post earlier. Like your previous landing page design.

Would love to connect and follow your journey anyway! @janetacarr

      1. 1

Hey thanks for the support! You can follow me and Statdesk on IH or follow me on twitter. I'll be revamping my blog soon too so people can subscribe.

        1. 1

Great! Followed on Twitter and LinkedIn ;) @janetacarr

    2. 1

      Is it kind of crisp/intercom/drift?

      1. 1

Very much so. That's the exact positioning I'm aiming for.

        1. 1

Oh nice. What's your tech stack btw? You're building this alone?

Anyway, subscribed. If you need some beta testing, drop a message, will check it out

          1. 1

Hey thanks! I'm not 100% on the stack yet. I haven't even started building! Still talking with customers. :)

            1. 1

Am I the only one person in this world who spend 600 hours building and after that started talking with customers 🙄🙄

              1. 1

Haha no. Plenty of people build before selling. I would argue that talking with customers can be side stepped a bit if you have competition since that validates the space.
I just like talking to customers because each time it has changed my idea about how the solution should work, and It's informing a build and (pre-)launch strategy for me.

I got new feedback for my book about deployment. It's overall positive with many points to improve and to fix so I am really grateful. I also need to craft a long overdue update for my subscriber list.

    1. 1

By the way the subscription form does not work when Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection is on.

      1. 1

Thanks for letting me know. I will look into it.

    2. 1

Hey, congrats about the book! How is the return of investment for you?

I have been thinking about writing my experiences down as an ebook but I'm not sure if it will worth spending many hours over a few months on it.

My main concern is that I don't have a lot of "influenced" followers so I probably won't be selling a thousand copies right away. Thus the earnings will come slow and in tiny amounts.

      1. 1

Yes, I hear you. I also don't have an online following. This makes it even harder than just writing (hard enough!). I don't have any numbers to share (not on sale yet), but since I spent 5 full months on it and many half months it will never match a consulting gig that's quite obvious.

        1. 1

Hope yours will do amazing. The content looks extensive and well-thought.

Worst thing about tech content is it will be obsolete so fast. Like if I write something about the framework I know the most about, by the time I finish, the framework will probably have another major release lol.

          1. 2

            Thanks!

Yes. And it gives me anxiety! Luckily I try to make it a bit longer lived by focusing a lot on things that will remain true for foreseeable future. With the rest I am content from the beginning to keep updating the book for some time after launch.

If I ever write another book though, it should be a Harry Potter-kind of book :).

I find the title misleading. I expected some psychology on how different colors create feelings and effects. But it's about how to implement colors in CSS. I'd consider adding something about css in the title.
