What do think of this intro video?

Hi all,

I created a product demo video for TubersLab last night. It was the most draining of the whole experience. I have been postponing this forever and eventually did it.

Kudos to all who are into video production. It is so tiring and I wonder how they are all doing it for living.

I used

  1. QuickTime for Screen Recording
  2. AT 2020+ and Audacity for Audio recording
  3. Pexel for stock videos
  4. A Borrowed Nikon 3300 for Video Shoot and
  5. iMove for editing.

Anyways I would be so grateful if you folks can share what you feel about it. Feel free to roast :).

Nice video. However, note that internet users have very short attention span. So you need two videos. One a teaser to explain your product in 10-30 seconds and another longer product explainer that you just did.
Here is how we did it - Teaser and explainer

Yes Great idea. I will use yours as an inspiration.

best video introduction idea. I'm thinking to try it on my blog of https://www.gearsireview.com/

I loved the video and hung on each word. Congratulations for getting this far and good luck! I am in the older age category so if you want to tap that market, keep your video. Slower speed and clear explanation of benefit is great for the older demographic. My adult kids though would need something much more snappy as most commenters suggest.

Thanks a lot Kellysaint. That makes a lot of sense. May be I'll make smaller snappier versions and add them as well.

Cool Idea! I'll try it out.

For the video, I think you can get to the details much faster.

For example start with something like,

"Learn faster and remember more with YouTubersLab, the note-taking tool for YouTube. Videos stop while you are typing so you don't miss anything. Keep all your notes organized, with time-stamped images so that you can quickly locate the key ideas in videos. etc. "

Thank you so much John. The copy you have written sounds really cool and catchy. I am sure you have built that skill overtime. I am going to write smaller copies and make more smaller videos and run as ads. - I just subscribed to you newsletter.

You are most welcome! Let me know if I can help in any way.

I appreciate you subscribing to the newsletter! Please let me know how I can improve!

    Hi auBavan, love your idea,

I would definitely put a background sound to make it less monotone in addition of what @hatkyinc said!

I'd suggest making it shorter just as @nomis_mikah said, something more of an elevator pitch than a tutorial on how to use it. You can add new short videos anytime to demonstrate other functionalities.

As an MVP what i've seen from your video it looks OK, don't hesitate to make the web UI more appealing and use more app icons!

Hope it helps, keep going and please share your progress with us ;)

Great! bg music and more modulation on narration seem to be a common factors being noticed lacking.

I am not sure what app icons are. But, I agree landing page needs love.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts.

Great visuals. Maybe slightly faster, some music in the bg, louder voice over with better voice modulation.

Thank you. As a non native speaker, it is difficult to speak faster. But, practicing the script few more times would definitely help I guess. Once again thank you.

You can hire someone from Fiverr for around $5-10. It will add a lot more value to the video. Trust me. Go check out Voice Over artists on fiverr.

          will do aminmemon. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing what you're working on.

I took a look and I have limited time so maybe you could do a very short video saying what it does in 15 or 30 seconds. (What it does, who could use it, etc). Then offer up to see more...

I also found the voice over very boring. If I watched this late at night it might put me to sleep.

I agree with the comments by @hatkyinc

Thats the voice that put my kid to sleep even if she had a candy. 😬 I think I can build a better script based on these feedbacks and then get it narrated by a professional. Thanks a lot for sharing your valuable time.

    • The jump between "you watched X youtube vids" to "do you remember what you learned from them" is a big mental leap IMHO, like you know 99% of these watches are NOT for learning... I think it lacks some middle sentence or something to lead the story..
    • "Think!" mmm... your lecturing me, probably don't want to listen to you anymore, you'r not my parent! ...
    • The narration is kinda not nice to listen to IMHO, as it feels forced, like your trying to speak slowly to be clear, but maybe it's too slow, and there is no emotion and ...
Consider hiring the narration out or practicing it a bunch more.
Like the video itself and the content while explaining it is pretty good, if you want to take it to the next level consider zooming in on the mouse and typing area.
    • I think the icons on the extension and colouring need work, but it's minor, like not MVP important
    • "5 years from now.." feels a bit off.. but don't have a current idea how to make it feel more real/ identifiable...

I thought of the same thing, you do a good job of explaining the problem but I was having a hard time understanding the benefits. This has been my experience, an engaging product video usually demonstrates "Jobs to be done" https://hbr.org/2016/09/know-your-customers-jobs-to-be-done

Wow. Thanks... Those are really good feedback. I'll see how I can fix it. Thanks a ton Hatkynic.
