What is the best way to monetize a simple game?

Hi,

I made a small actor guessing game inspired by Wordle: actorle.com
I was pretty surprised to see that it gained some popularity and it gets 2000 page views per day now.
What do you think, what would be the best way to monetize it? Ads, etc.
All standard options are a little bit tricky because the IMDb dataset has a non-commercial license.

I think ads would be the most obvious thing to try, especially ads put into the game area itself rather then banners in the borders.

Based on advice I've seen: try Ezoic or Adthrive instead of AdSense. Their rates are better.

Thanks for the tips! I checked the AdSense calculator and it showed a surprisingly big number. It's good to know that there sre providers with better rate too.

We tried to monetize Tiler More by selling t-shirts, with very limited success. Maybe it was the designs, maybe we did it too late, maybe our users just don't want shirts.

    So, I guess, probably don't try selling t-shirts? :)

Thanks for the tip! This is also useful information. :)

I would think along with acquisition. Package it nicely, so it could get bought.

That's a good idea! Any suggestions how to approach acquisition?

Just had a look at your game, it's so cool, really good job. I would try setting up a small donate button somewhere on the screen, but there may be a better way I'm not aware of.

Thanks! This is a good idea and not so annoying for the users I guess.

I had some other abandoned projects, Splitmonkey.app and Functively.com but they never gained any traction. So this is a weird feeling that such a small project became this popular.
