What strategies are there for sharing my podcast?

Just recently released the First Time Founder podcast, what techniques have worked for you for getting the word out?

Hey Kevin! A few quick ideas for you:

Online communities like PodHunt and Podyssey can be good places to share your episode, and engage with listeners.

I've written a pretty good guide on promoting podcasts here:

Thanks Justin, these are great! I'll listen to these and try to implement some of your ideas.

I have a podcast called AuthorUncut.com. Once it releases, I:

    1. Use missinglettr.com to schedule my social media posts.
    2. Create a POST on my website for that specific episode.
    3. Create an image specific for the podcast using canva.com.
    4. Post episode to my IGTV channel which automatically goes into my IG feed.
    5. Use Spreaker.com to have episode automatically posted to my youtube channel. I then go into that posting and add keywords.

FYI: I use anchor.fm to distribute my podcast across multiple platforms.

    Yo!

I agree with a lot of what @mijustin mentioned here too.

I co-host the WPMRR WordPress podcast. It's pretty niche but we've had some mild success growing an audience. Here's what I do (although I'm sure there's more I could be doing)...

    1. Use our email list at WP Buffs to promote in our monthly newsletter.
    2. Push traffic from WP Buffs to drive more listeners/subs, especially in podcast-specific blog posts like this.
    3. Searched Google for "WordPress podcasts" and used my network to try to get our podcast featured in those roundups (although I put most of my focus on ranking the article above #1 for that search).
    4. Be a guest on other WordPress-related podcasts. Folks who already listen to those pods might easily subscribe to ours!
    5. Ask guests on our podcast to help share (on social, in online communities, with their email lists, link to the article, etc). We let folks do whatever they're comfortable with and don't push too hard here.

Note: I realized #1 and #2 above only work because we have an existing audience and drive solid traffic. Underlines the importance of starting to build that now so when you do or launch new stuff, you have folks you can tell directly!

For sharing your episode you might want to try using a tool like https://podshare.io to generate landing pages that link to the largest podcasting platforms. Full disclosure, I run PodShare :)
