I may be a little bit excited about the fact that we have a growth group. 🥳
I've got ideas and plans of what we can do, but I thought I'd ask you all first what you think would be useful to you?
Maybe it's a stupid question, but I'm not sure I understand how groups work.
Why should someone post in a group instead of posting in the general forum where it will be seen by all the group members PLUS all the other people?
It can still be seen on the homepage, just where it ends up will be nicely organised and more helpful to the community. The Podcaster group is a (new but) good example, posts at the moment can still be viewed on the homepage, but anyone specifically interested in podcasting can find little treasure troves in one place.
Got it. But what's the advantage of becoming a member then?
Joining a group and being a member doesn't do much at the moment. In the future, some groups may require you to be a member to post, or to comment, or to read posts, etc., depending on the group.
Subscribing to a group is slightly different. That'll send you email notifications when there are new posts in the group. You should subscribe to groups you're interested in reading posts from.
Make you look cool? 😎
Find others who are interested in similar things. 🧑🏽🤝🧑🏽
Choose to get notifications for that group only. 📧
And other things that @csallen decides to build (or remove 🤔) based on feedback.
Case studies and experiments are always fascinating and useful - not only successful growth campaigns but also failed ones and lessons learned.
Honestly, I wonder if "growth" isn't too vague a term to be a good group descriptor.
Is growth about companies in a "growth phase" for example?
Or a place to talk about growth strategies?
And what is a growth strategy anyway? Hiring a marketer, Facebook ads, doing sales, content marketing, SEO...
It's all growth. Maybe that's why I'm finding it so hard to say what I'd like or expect from the group :/
Happy to be proven wrong, but I wonder if splitting growth into several smaller, more focussed groups wouldn't be a more productive way to go.

sure, but because growth is such a broad topic, there will be a lot of posts about very different things. So it’ll be hard to keep an overview and find the stuff that is relevant to you.
Why not split it into a few separate groups which are more focused, and join the ones you’re interested in?
Too risky to have too many niche groups to start off with. Yes growth is a bit of a catchall, but trying to be too specific makes it so much harder to create ongoing and long term conversations.
fair enough
