Why bootstrapping Worthfit is the best decision we (unexpectedly) made

Hey everyone 👋

I’m Roy, founder of Worthfit, a mental health companion app that helps people feel truly heard and supported - anytime, anywhere.

Before our product was even live, we thought about raising a pre-seed round.
But we decided to bootstrap instead.
And honestly… it’s the best decision we could have made.

Here’s why:

  • We’re forced to be creative and really resourceful.

  • Every feature we build has to matter. No endless polishing. No building for vanity.

  • User feedback isn’t "nice to have" - it’s survival. Every single update is based on what users actually tell us.

  • We move faster because we’re not waiting for external validation.

  • We feel closer to our users than ever, building with them, not just for them.

A good example:
Recently, many users started telling us they really want a journaling feature.
Because we’re so close to our community right now, we immediately started speaking with a lot of users to deeply understand what they truly want, not just building based on assumptions.

Of course, it’s not always easy. Bootstrapping means hard prioritization and tough calls.
But it’s making Worthfit 10x stronger, both the product and the mindset behind it.

Anyone else here bootstrapping and feeling the same way? Would love to hear your stories. :)
(And if you're thinking about it: happy to share the real ups and downs.)

— Roy
