April 17, 2025 Why bootstrapping Worthfit is the best decision we (unexpectedly) made

Hey everyone 👋

I’m Roy, founder of Worthfit, a mental health companion app that helps people feel truly heard and supported - anytime, anywhere.

Before our product was even live, we thought about raising a pre-seed round.
But we decided to bootstrap instead.
And honestly… it’s the best decision we could have made.

Here’s why:

  • We’re forced to be creative and really resourceful.

  • Every feature we build has to matter. No endless polishing. No building for vanity.

  • User feedback isn’t "nice to have" - it’s survival. Every single update is based on what users actually tell us.

  • We move faster because we’re not waiting for external validation.

  • We feel closer to our users than ever, building with them, not just for them.

A good example:
Recently, many users started telling us they really want a journaling feature.
Because we’re so close to our community right now, we immediately started speaking with a lot of users to deeply understand what they truly want, not just building based on assumptions.

Of course, it’s not always easy. Bootstrapping means hard prioritization and tough calls.
But it’s making Worthfit 10x stronger, both the product and the mindset behind it.

Anyone else here bootstrapping and feeling the same way? Would love to hear your stories. :)
(And if you're thinking about it: happy to share the real ups and downs.)

April 16, 2025 Building the most personal mental companion app — here’s where we are so far

Hey everyone!

I’m Roy, founder of Worthfit - a mental health companion app designed to help people feel truly heard and supported, 24/7.

I started building Worthfit because I personally struggled a lot with mental health growing up. Like many, I didn’t feel heard. That’s why we created Worthy, an AI companion that talks to you through voice and chat, checks in with you, and adapts to your emotions over time.

We launched the first version in January and are now live in 40+ countries. It’s still early, we’re in the middle of validating PMF, but the feedback so far has been incredibly motivating.

Not looking to pitch ;), just want to connect with others building human-first products.
Anyone else here working on something in mental health, AI, or journaling space?

Also curious: if you journal or talk to AI bots, what’s missing for you?

Looking forward to learning from you all!
– Roy

About

After experiencing depression and emotional isolation from a young age - without timely access to the help I needed - I decided to build what I once needed most: a place where people could be truly supported.
