Why do we only follow through when other people are involved?

I’ve noticed something weird:

When it’s just me → I quit easily
When other people are involved → I follow through

Not because I suddenly become disciplined.

But because:

  • Someone might notice

  • It feels more real

  • Backing out is awkward

Feels like most “self-discipline” problems are actually “social context” problems.

Curious if others feel the same?
