April 12, 2026 Title:What if commitments only worked when they felt real?

I’ve been experimenting with this idea:

Instead of trying to be more disciplined,
what if we just made commitments feel real?

Like:

  • You set a goal

  • Add a consequence

  • Involve other people

Basically turning it into a small “social contract”

Thinking about building something around this.

Would you use it?

April 12, 2026 Why do we only follow through when other people are involved?

I’ve noticed something weird:

When it’s just me → I quit easily
When other people are involved → I follow through

Not because I suddenly become disciplined.

But because:

  • Someone might notice

  • It feels more real

  • Backing out is awkward

Feels like most “self-discipline” problems are actually “social context” problems.

Curious if others feel the same?

April 12, 2026 I don’t have a motivation problem. I just know I can get away with not doing it.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

Most of the time, I don’t skip things because I’m lazy.
I skip them because… nothing really happens if I don’t.

No real consequence.
No one notices.
No pressure to follow through.

So I’m trying something:

If I don’t go to the gym tomorrow,
I’ll have to post something embarrassing here.

No deleting.

Curious — what would be a “fun but painful enough” consequence that would actually make you follow through?

I’m collecting ideas 👇
