My physical wallet used to be a mini storage locker.
Cash, ID cards, insurance slips, random receipts — everything I might need someday was stuffed inside.
My phone wasn’t much better: a graveyard of screenshots of important papers I could never find when I actually needed them.
Sound familiar?
I tried a handful of “digital wallet” apps hoping to finally free my pockets.
But every option came with trade-offs:
Ads everywhere that interrupted the experience.
Mandatory sign-ups and cloud syncs that felt unnecessary for something so personal.
Interfaces that were either too complicated or just plain slow.
All I wanted was a private, lightweight way to keep my cards and documents organized — without handing my data to a third party.
After one particularly frustrating day of digging through receipts at a checkout counter, I decided to build the tool I couldn’t find.
That idea became True Wallet.
True Wallet is my take on what a wallet app should be:
Offline & private — Your cards never leave your device. No servers. No tracking.
Zero ads — Nothing gets between you and your cards.
No sign-up or login — Install it and start adding cards instantly.
Simple, fast design — Just scan, store, and organize.
It’s the app I wish had existed when I started my paperless journey.
Creating and releasing my first app taught me more than I expected — about coding, design, and how much people value privacy when it’s presented simply.
Seeing True Wallet reach #17 on Product Hunt on launch day was a huge reminder that small indie projects can still resonate.
