Why I started building Huurly

I started Huurly because I saw how frustrating the Dutch rental market is for normal people.

If you’re an expat, a student, or a ZZP’er, the process can feel unfair and unclear. You often don’t know:

• what documents to prepare,

• what income rule applies,

• whether you even qualify,

• or why you got rejected.

Instead of guessing, I wanted to build a product that gives people more clarity before they apply.

Huurly helps users prepare a stronger rental application with:

• qualification checks,

• document checklists,

• professional dossier generation,

• and an application tracker.

Still early, but the vision is simple: help people stop wasting time on listings they don’t qualify for, and help them apply in a cleaner, more professional way.
